Really think a Wilshere Cleverly partnership in the middle could have a lot of potential, I'd rather we tried and failed with new lads like Cleverly now instead of persisting with the old heads who've failed us many times before.

My abiding memory of him will be him and Mark Crossley mugging us that day at SJP. Credit to him for what he's done like, wish them both luck and hope his son makes a full recovery.

That will 100% happen. 100% it wont happen. It could have easily happened when Ashley took over but there's a reason it hasn't. Aye, the contract with Northen Rock Hasn't that deal been resigned in his time here? When the Puma deal was agreed? The point being that Ashley could not have changed the shirt sponsorship when he took over. Him not doing that then is therefore not an argument for him not doing it next season. Neither is the previous extension of the NR deal an indication of whether it's under discussion for next season. The fact that the deal Ashley signed a year ago still has 3 seasons to run (including this one) is a pretty substantial argument for him not doing it next season like.

Expecting Tiote to completely shackle Barton if he plays in the centre and for Cabaye to give him a lesson on how to play centre mid.

Not even on the bench.

According to the Marsielle chairman they agreed a swap deal for Gignac and Gyan, but Gignac refused to move to Sunderland.

Sorry to break it to you, but the lure of the capital and a potential lateral move to Spurs, Arsenal or Chelsea in the future is a lot more attractive than a potential move to the Mackems or Boro. And I wish that people would stop harping on about how we've left everything so late. We've already signed a couple of decent players and other clubs seem to be suffering in the market too. Until such time as anyone on this board can show me a business plan that's predicated on last-minute purchases, then I call bullshit on the whole thing. We've got less than two hours to wait and whatever happens, que sera, sera. Aye, because once you come here you're tied to the area and a move south is impossible.

Don't know what kind of helicopter we use, but he physically needs to be at the helipad just about now to make it to SJP and sign a contract within two hours. Surely he wouldn't need to come up here to sign everything, I'd imagine we'd sort it out in London before flying him up later on.

Eh? It's coming from the chief football writer for the BBC. The same one that reported the Gyan transfer request?
