  1. And appropiately Málaga go one up during the first minutes.
  2. Ready to watch Atlético - Málaga, and I just realized how much Newcastle and Atlético remind me of each other. Great support, always flattering to deceive despite strong squads on paper, a relegation in recent times, fat dumbheads in charge...
  3. Osasuna nets a second and puts Niel's bet to rest. Xerez get their second win of the season after coming back from 0-1 to Mallorca!
  4. Screw that, the commentators of Racing-Getafe reported it as a Pennant goal, but it really wasn't but Suazo. He still hasn't done f*** all this season.
  5. Pennant scores his first of the season, and gives Zaragoza a much needed win against relegation rivals Tenerife. 1-2
  6. I remember when they signed Almunia off Albacete, everybody was "what?". From all the great goalies in Spain, he went and signed a disctinctly average one. I mean, until that season he had been unable to establish himself at a bunch of mediocre Spanish teams...
  7. Bah, Racing down to 10 men, that means they are going to park the bus and no chance of me seeing Canales or Xisco today.
  8. Arsenal not rising up to the challenge when it matters non-shocker.
  9. ManU has always been one of the best (or just the best) counterattacking teams in world football. Just saw Osasuna's goal against Villarreal. defending.
  10. "Shearer is overrated", I remember that Was watching this Racing game to see both Canales and Xisco in action and none has started... hope they come in during the second half. Racing being the better team anyhow.
  11. Villarreal are hot and cold this season. I think today's a cold day.
  12. FFS these commentators spend more time talking about the Arsenal-ManU game than this beautiful display of exciting footie between Getafe and Racing Santander.
  13. Heh, I'm watching Getafe-Racing (don't ask) and they have interrumped commentary to wank over Nani's goal.
  14. How do you see Barton in your midfield? I always thought that his best times at City were when he was used as a more forward-minded CM and not as DM.
  15. do you not think we play those crosses and high balls (mostly high balls) because he is playing ? I don't think it's Carroll's fault. I think that what forces you to punt and use high balls is the fact you are so, so slow at taking the ball forward, and when there your mobility is awful (and I mean not only player mobility but ball mobility, passing, first touch... to take the defence out of position and force openings). In all the games I have seen the general tonic is that their defence is allowed to sit pretty comfortably, clouding your attacking players and forcing them to punt the ball to see if luck strikes and Carroll can bring it down. Do you think you have the players for doing otherwise? (honest question). Guthrie hasn't impressed me to be honest, but maybe Routledge and Jonas together can bring some of that mobility. Maybe.
  16. In account of the 4 (FOUR!!!) games I have seen this season it looks like you should put Carroll in there given all the crosses and high balls that you play... somebody has to chase them and the guy looked good at doing that at least. Then either Loven or Ameobi as the goalscoring forward. Not sure how Lovenkrands and Ameobi would complement each other as a pair. Again, it's only four games.

    Xisco

I was just talking to a Galician friend and dropped the Xisco signing, that's more or least what he said "Who's the blind guy making the signings at Newcastle? Here they say they paid €7m+3m... that's utter madness, he's not bad but not worth even half of that, he's not a great not in the least. Anyway Depor fans should build a monument to Newcastle... Luque, Coloccini, Xisco... at last Lendoiro (Depor's owner) found the investor he needed to salvage the finances of the club!"

    Xisco

To be honest, taking into account how hard has been to him to establish himself at the Racing XI despite him being better than all the dross they have passing as "forwards", it looks like he wasn't impressing in training much either. There are also rumours that he feigned injury to miss a reserve game. It may be false, but if there's smoke is because something's burning, so it tells you something about Xisco's perceived attitude. Ultimately, it strikes to me as the kind of guy that does have some quality in him, but doesn't have the will or determination to fight the daily fight of being a great footballer, and not only the match days.
  19. In another display of our great transfer acumen, Keirrison has ben loaned to Fiorentina for this season and the next, with a transfer fee already agreed meaning we pretty much have given up on the guy without him ever wearing the Barcelona shirt Txiki Begiristain, fuck off please.
  20. Honestly, I too see Wigan as above you in the pecking order at this point. Plus it is obvious he doesn't need to take the long-term view (it would surprise me if Wigan got relegated in the next two years anyway, way crappier teams in the league) since Wigan regularly sells their best players season after season.

    Xisco

Just read an extract of that interview, while he doesn't use such a strongest wording as to suggest he's "vowing to make it in England" and he doesn't dismiss a permanent move to Spain, he indeed says he feels he has a point to prove and that he would like to play a few years in the Premier League.
  22. He boasts about injuring underperforming foreigners in training and arranging for Lucas Neil to be beaten up in his autobiography. Grade A cunt then.
  23. Didn't Carragher almost injury a teammate in training because he had pissed all over him on the pitch or something like that? Somebody told me that story some years ago, hardcore ManU fan mind so could be a windup.
  24. Yeah, if they hadn't won the CL final (fluky win on its own right) and weaseled a CL spot out of it I could have seen them getting into trouble to keep Gerrard, or to be able to strenghten the squad to retain a top 4 position these past years. If they end up getting 4th again this year you can't barely blame anybody other than the supposed chasing pack though, they are there for the taking this season.
  25. I actually think we've just had our wobble, no goals in four matches. I do wonder how much Wembley will distract, though. I hope we buy a striker tomorrow. You have been having an amazing run of blank sheets though! (*eyes his FF team with satisfaction*)
