I can testify for this after being there on Saturday. Never known owt like it! Funny thing was we walked back into town afterwards and the wind wasn't even that bad then! The place must just act like a wind tunnel.

Whilst we've already seen that KLD would hand over their stadium to us in a shot for a price, the outrage and backlash from them would be off the scale. I mean imagine the embarrassment when their own stadium is sold out for every NUFC match, yet there's 1000s of empty seats when they are playing there! They couldn't handle it.

I love watching Heaton Stan. The crowd is class, everyone really friendly amd the volunteers that run it are all spot on as well. I get greeted by my first name at the turnstile and they even follow me on Twitter! Maybe doesn't seem like much but I love that sort of personal touch as opposed to being treated like a customer higher up the pyramid. It's been fascinating watching the club grow over the years, from a decent Northern Alliance outfit to one of the top Northern League clubs, averaging over 400 fans a game and you see the money they make from that being pumped straight back in and improving all aspects of the club (unlike what happens at tomorrow's opponents). Should make the Play Offs this season but I wouldn't be too arsed about them going up just yet. Wouldn't mind just one more season in the NL and to have a right good go at the Vase. Seeing them play at Wembley would be something else!

You'll be fine parking at Sainsburys then
-
He should be fine if he watches the Toon game first as he won't get there till around 2.45. As long as he doesn't hang round for an hour or more after full time, but aye worth pointing out.
-
I'll be at this one as well! Parking is limited tbh. Most the streets around the ground are permit only on account of it being near to the Freeman so watch you don't get caught out.. There are some streets a little bit further away where you can park. If you're not familiar with the area you could always park at Sainsburys and it's about a 6/7 minute walk from there.

Well our fanbase pisses all over theirs, as does our trophy count, as does our time in the top flight so I'd say I'm comfortable going down that road. Also history starts at the beginning and ends at the present, unless you are bringing in an imaginary cut off date here, and our history is far greater than theirs. They are traditionally a 2nd tier team, and they don't even make it into the top 10 in the Country for support. In fact they aren't even the most successful club in Yorkshire. Sheff Wed have won more than they have.

Their average that season was 39,204. They've never averaged over 40k in their history. https://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/league/leeu.htm
-
Please explain? I know that for a large part of the last 100 years Elland Road has held well in excess of 40k so it can't be down to ground capacity.

Never understood the hype with Leeds I'll be honest. 3 league titles and 1 FA Cup in their entire history I think it is and in Europe 2 Fairs Cups so 6 trophies to their name. They've spent far longer out of the top flight than in it and despite being the biggest city in England with only 1 club in it have never averaged over 40k in a season before. In fact they don't even make it into the top 10 in the all time attendance table despite a huge catchment area which suggests Leeds isn't a particularly big footballing city.

Was supposed to be going to watch Gateshead yesterday. Postponed last minute, waterlogged pitch. Was going to watch Heaton Stan tonight. Postponed, waterlogged pitch. This weather really is shite. Pitches used to always be a bit on the firm side going into mid April, not under water!
-
Atmosphere v Leeds was one of our worst of the season last year. Granted a 0-0 draw didn't help matters like, but their fans were shite as well!
-
I really want Ipswich up so I'm quite happy that they've taken a point tonight considering they're just playing the season out now.

Off to Holland that weekend for PSV v Sparta Rotterdam!

Aye it was bad like. Felt like a day at the beach, came out absolutely covered in sand that was blown from the sand pit where they do the long/triple jump. Was in my hair, mouth, ears everywhere. Also before the match the away dugout (dugouts are on wheels) got caught by a huge hust of wind and blew across the funning track, just missing a female steward who was oblivious until it sped past her Enjoyed the game, great atmosphere and over 3k in attendance. Think they announced 695 away fans. Fair play to Macclesfield they gave it a good do 2nd half with the wind behind them. Took a chance at 2-0 and booked the train for Wembley. Got it for a very reasonable £136 for the 3 of us. Apparently the price more than doubled at FT!
-
Should be a canny game that one. Alnwick still got a good shot at the title with their games in hand.
-
Got tickets for Gatesheads FA Trophy Semi Final v Macclesfield tomorrow. Hoping to reach Wembley for a 2nd season in a row. Decent weather forecast for it as well. 19c!

Tha Gallowgate is a great example of acoustics tbh. The design of the roof holds the noise in there really well so when you're in there it sounds very loud. If you're sat opposite in the Leazes End or the away end it sounds shite.
-
Another great example at SJP is that if you are in the Strawberry Corner or the Gallowgate Upper you can't really hear (or see) the away fans. They might as well not be there. However there's been matches over the years where I've left early and walking back into town you can hear the away fans loud and clear as their noise drifts straight over the East and Gallowgate roofs. In other words the noise isn't really held inside the stadium, and that's down to design first and foremost. Agree Evertons ground looks like it'll hold noise in well.
-
Acoustics plays a massive part imo. As people know we are ST holders at PSV Eindhoven. 35k capacity. Very steep stands all of the same height. We sit quite a way from their singing end where the most boisterous supporters are, more or less the other side of the ground but noticed even at times when there's clearly only a couple of hundred of them singing it really carries right across the stadium and sounds loud. Compare to SJP and if you're sitting a fair way from the Strawberry Corner you can see them all (1.5k+) really going for it but the noise simply doesn't carry across. Stadium design plays a massive part. Been to Ibrox several times and that's probably the best example of a stadium design that is great for atmosphere because you can actually hear the echo of the noise rebounding off each stand when they are up. It's pretty spine tingling tbh. At the other end of the you have a big vast bowl like what West Ham have. 60k+ there and they now have real difficulty generating noise, despite having twice as many fans is as the Boleyn Ground which admittedly could get pretty noisy. Southampton in the League Cup last year was a great example for me. We got stuck towards the back of L7 right across towards the Gallowgate. Atmosphere was completely dead. Embarrassing for a Semi Final. Met up with mates in the pub who'd been in the Gallowgate and they were raving about the noise.

I used to sit in the old East Enclouse (row CC which was 3 rows from the front) and it was very close to the pitch. Had the boxes behind us, and everyone would turn around and watch the replays of the goals on the TVs in them much to the annoyance of the corporate guests inside I remember in our first Champions League campaign in 97/98 they couldn't sell the first few rows because they were too close to the pitch and obstructed by the higher advertising boards they used in the CL. The capacity of the stand definitely increased when it was remodelled as they added a few extra rows to the lower tier but even now the capacity of the entire stand is only 5,240 which isn't much for a stand that runs the length of the pitch. In comparison the Milburn Stand holds almost 15,000.

He's homegrown so pure profit a FFP perspective. Moving him on is a no brainer.

He can fuck right off.
