  1. Couple of my mates managed to get seats in the Clock Stand and and some others got into the Roker End. Reckons there were mackems in the Clock Stand who spent most the match walking about trying to see if any NUFC fans had managed to get in. Said it was a bit hairy like but they survived unscathed. Remember a group of mackems managed to get into our end for the return at SJP towards the back of the Leazes East corner. About 20 of them celebrated when they scored but nothing happened to them and they were allowed to remain for the rest of the match.
  2. Winning when nowhere near our best. Usually a very good sign. Just beat a very good Spurs team who'll be top 6 again this season. Happy with our start. 5th with 7 points from 9. I'll take that.
  3. They look very average again this season. I look at their team and there's not many I'd want here. Probably spent best part of £1.5Bn since Ferguson retired as well
  4. 6. Didn't lose any of our big hitters. Think we might next year though.
  5. Honestly mate I know he walked away with a lot more than he put in, which upsets a lot of people, but he did that because he totally transformed the football club and we were unrecognisable from the club he took over to the club he left. Same reason I'll always love Amanda Staveley. She's made a tidy penny out of NUFC no doubt but again left the club in far better shape than she found it so for me she deserves every penny she's walked away with.
  6. I stood in that crumbling ground in the 80s and early 90s. I got soaked when it rained whilst watching some of the shittest players I've ever seen play for NUFC. I looked on as every talent we developed was sold as soon as an offer came in. I despaired as we hurtled towards division 3 and total oblivion. Hall came in. Nobody else would touch us with a barge pole lets not forget. He brought in Keegan. We then went on the have the best few years I've ever had as a Newcastle fan. 92/93 to 95/96 was just magical. The football was on another planet to what I'd ever seen before. I watched as SJP, which was an embarrassment of a football ground, was transformed into one of the best arenas in Europe. We celebrated as we broke the World transfer record to bring Alan Shearer home. We played in the UEFA Cup, then we played in the Champions League, just a few years after nearly being in Division 3. Great times. The best times I've had in my 40+ years as a supporter. Thanks to Sir John Hall. That's why I'll never say a bad word against him.
  7. Still what? If I can see past a murderous regime running our football club I sure as hell aren't going to get myself worked up about John Hall, who basically made the stadium what it is today, and a Conservative MP having a chat inside it. As a point of note I think SJH deflected to Reform. Not 100% sure though.
  8. For anyone who's been unsuccessful don't lose heart. Live football tickets currently have 671 seats available for this game starting from the bargain price of £110 (+ fees) in the Leazes End. If your pockets are a bit deeper you could go all out for a prime spot and enjoy the match in luxury in the ultra modern East Stand for only £550 (+ fees). https://www.livefootballtickets.com/fixtures/newcastle-united-v-manchester-city-tickets-english-premier-league.html
  9. Well I still couldn't get a ticket for Man City! Good job they've been so quick to press ahead with stadium expansion plans, or even a new one altogether.
  10. Man City was the first one I've applied for this season. Just had the email there saying I've been unsuccessful so that's 0/1 so far.
  11. All I'll say is that someone gave me a 50 and said there you go have a bet, even money on either an expansion or a new stadium in 5 years time, or we're still at a 52k capacity SJP, my 50 quid would definitely be on the 52k capacity SJP.
  12. Off to Percy Main v Ponteland today (6.15pm KO) then straight back home to watch the Forest game which I'll probably miss the first 15 mins of.

Winning either domestic trophy gets you into Europe, and of course you're winning a trophy as well!

They've never stated that though. We've taken the cups very seriously the last few years and we qualified for the CL the same season we reached the LC final so it wasn't much of a hindrance to our league form that year. Our best chance of breaking our trophy drought is through the League Cup (which would also qualify us for Europe) and I can't see us smashing our transfer record on a player who can't even play in it. I think by Palace playing him tonight they are saying he's not for sale. Look elsewhere. We should have been doing that a fortnight ago mind!

Not sure. Can't see us paying £70m for a player who we can't even use in the competition that realistically we've got the best chance of winning. Whole saga has been a complete shit show.
  16. That was the game that gave us "The Entertainers" nickname which we had for a few years.
  17. Aye that'll no doubt be a factor. I was actually stood with a North Shields ST holder who didn't fancy the trip down to Redcar on Saturday. If they can pick up a few more wins, and play like they did on Saturday I'm sure the crowds will start to creep back up again.
  18. Aye it's heavily penned in with the cricket ground at one side, allotments behind the other goal and then the road behind the area where you can watch along the side. Just looked like trees over the far side. Don't think anyone will be able to get promoted from the Alliance this season because their grounds won't be at the required standard.
  19. A bit further down the pyramid I ended up at Percy Main v Haltwhistle on Saturday. Percy Main had a great season last year but lost their manager and most of their players to West Allotment over the summer and had lost their first 5 games of the season whilst Haltwhistle sat in 4th place. Ended up watching what was a very entertaining game of football which Percy Main won 3-2 and had a bizarre moment where an overhanging tree behind the goal stopped the ball going out for a goal kick and the referee just waving play on much to the Haltwhistle defenders annoyance as Percy Main won the ball back inside their penalty area £3 to get in and they had a nice little club house serving alcohol, soft drinks and hot food. My mates wife was drinking white wine at £4 for a very large glass and after the match the barman came over and just let her have the rest of the bottle as there was only about a small glass left in it. Nice friendly little club and I'll definitely be back when time allows (possibility Wednesday night). Attendance given as 79, although I thought there looked slightly more there. Apparently they were regularly getting 3 figure crowds last season but their poor start seemed to have put a few off!

I do get the impression he's stringing us along here and will pull the plug at the last minute. He's got a massive dislike of our ownership group and would love to shaft us. We need to move onto other targets and then maybe revisit this next year when his value will have plummeted due to him going into the last year of his contract, albeit there'll be more competition for him you'd imagine.

Isak just came out of the blue. Remember dropping the bairn off at football camp in the summer holidays the day he signed. There'd literally been no talk of it then when I picked him up at 3.30 we'd signed him. Edited to say the first mention of Isak on this forum (the day the Isak thread was started) was 24th August 2022 and we signed him on the 25th.

Reporters know nowt. First we heard of arguably our 2 best signings, Bruno and Isak was when they'd been completed. No speculation or anything. They were just announced.
  23. Only getting 11.5m for him once Spurs take their cut. We got 35m for Elliot Anderson
  24. He's been on Talksport this afternoon.
