  1. It isn't but look at other Countries and the biggest, well supported clubs tend to have the biggest capacities to satisfy the demands of their fanbase. England; Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool Germany; Dortmund, Bayern Spain; Barcelona, the Madrid clubs Italy; Milan clubs, Roma Scotland; Celtic, Rangers Holland; Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV Portugal; Benfica, Porto, Sporting Historically we are the 5th best supported team in the Country and will soon have the 9th biggest stadium. Plus I'm pissed off that I'm as good as locked out of it these days!!
  2. Whoever was the owner is besides the point though. We used to have the 2nd largest stadium and we'll start next season with the 9th largest. We have been overtaken and left behind.
  3. We are if you think that 20 years ago we had the 2nd largest stadium in the Country. Next season we'll have the 9th largest and once Leeds is done we're 10th.
  4. Unfortunately I expect most women's teams run at a loss, if not all of them. Certainly the money it costs to run NUFC women will be far smaller than the revenue the team generates. They need to look at ways of generating more money in the womens game and in turn passing it down to the players and staff.
  5. Ticket prices were announced at the start of the season. I think it was £20 for League Cup and £30 for FA Cup but could be wrong. Hoping for my first ballot success in a while here. If I can't get one for this game I might as well just give up on it. Confirmed above!
  6. I don't mind it tbh. Gives it a bit character. Used to love Ibrox in the 80s when it had 5 different colours of seats in each stand, Red yellow, blue, orange and brown. Looked class!
  7. Arteta cried like a bitch when we did this at the Emirates the fucking hypocrite.
  8. Aye read it back and he didn't word it great like. You're right it's not for everyone, obviously the cheap admission prices and the crowds reflect that, but it's got a niche market pretty much like Non league has which you mentioned.
  9. Got to admit I find the standard pretty poor. His post could probably have been worded slightly better maybe. Also find the game is far less technical than mens football and the intensity, which is one of my favourite things about football isn't there. I did get myself along to SJP a couple of years back to support the lasses against Barnsley I think it might have been, but I found the whole event rather dull and the skill level extremely poor and decided to leave at HT as I was bored. At least I gave it a shot but it just wasn't my thing. Good to see 2/3k seem to be going along regularly to watch them though and if they are enjoying it, which they must be then good on them. Would be boring if we all liked the same things!
  10. I was 78,000 odd in the queue when I went on to get my membership at the beginning of last season. Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if we have 100k members and even if only half of those are applying for tickets that's 50,000 scrambling for probably 15k tickets maximum so you wouldn't be getting much better than a 1 in 4 chance. Actually come to think of it didn't Eales say last season that the average member had a 25% success rate in ballots.
  11. Admittedly I've been a complete armchair fan this season due to ballot failures and away tickets being out of reach these days meaning I've only watched the matches on TV so maybe he's doing loads of good stuff off the ball and working hard off camera that I'm not seeing but he just seems to be a passenger in that team right now.
  12. Gateshead 6-1 down now! What a way to lose your first game of the season.
  13. Marveaux at Goodison is one that'll always stand out. That 1st half performance was up there with the most gutless of performances I've ever seen from an NUFC player. Remember being absolutely furious when he came jogging back out after half time only for Pardew to drag him off 3 minutes in to the 2nd half.
  14. Atmosphere at the Merseyside Derby always appears very flat, especially at Anfield. It's a really poor Derby. Manchester one isn't great either. The best one I find is North London and it's on this weekend.
  15. Really? I've never felt that. Only a few pubs within easy walking distance and if you were unlucky to be stuck at the back of the lower tier you can't see the goal down at the Kop end due to the overhang of the upper tier. I must have been there about 15 times and other than the 4-3 game I've always found the atmosphere to be pretty subdued amongst the home fans.
  16. Chelsea in talks to leave Stamford Bridge for a new stadium in Earls Court. https://www.theguardian.com/football/article/2024/sep/10/chelsea-in-talks-new-stadium-earls-court
  17. Still don't know what Arsenal were thinking when they built the Emirates. Top tier looks fine but why build the lower tier at such a shallow angle when you've got a blank canvas to play with? View is awful. Its like the lower tier of the old Wembley but at least they had the excuse that they simply bolted seats onto terracing.
  18. I was at Chelsea away for the final game of the 22/23 season and agree that the view from the Upper tier where I was, is absolutely fantastic. Added to that it's a great stand to generate atmosphere. Never been in the lower tier but I'd imagine it's nowhere near as good there.
  19. Yes it's very much allowed so it's worth doing. Obviously having something in writing, ie a will, makes it even easier.
  20. Aye it's just been on SSN about Man Utds stadiums plans. They're looking at 100k capacity.
  21. I don't think there's any real point in a waiting list now as the way things stand the numbers who drop off every year wouldn't make it worthwhile and there'd be people waiting decades to get one. Interestingly (and slightly morbidly I suppose) my dad enquired at the ticket office over the summer about what happens when he's unable to attend anymore or passes away (he's 72 but still in decent shape) and if his ticket can be passed down/transfered to another family member, ie me! when the time comes and was told that this is allowed so even an inability to be able to attend any more or even the death of a ST holder doesn't neccesarliy mean a seat becoming available. Tbh any seats that do become available due to a ST holder not renewing I think they'd rather sell to members on a match by match basis for more money.
  22. We don't operate with a waiting list so there isn't one to join.
  23. We'd fill 80k right now tbh. Maybe when we have the inevitable downturn and crowds drop off it may prove to be too big, but then again football is growing in popularity all the time so that could well compensate. If we did go to 80k it would be great if they could set all U18s tickets at a tenner and look after the next generation of fans.
  24. And both are far too small. Got best part of 100k people on ST waiting lists for tickets. If we're building a new stadium 60k is pointless and doesn't futureproof us. I'd say 70/75k would be about right.
