  1. Tbh mate I think you're wasting your time with this shite. You could simply reel off a load of random surnames and pass them off as your players and many on here, me included, would be none the wiser. It's basic just a bunch of nomarks pulling on your strip these days.
  2. Ah my mistake I've misheard him.
  3. They've owned the club for almost 3 years now, and whilst in that timeframe I wasn't expecting any new bricks and mortar I must admit I thought we might have had some indication of what they were planning to do regarding SJP, whether that's an extension and a tart up of the place or if a new site had been identified. It all seems to be moving at snails pace. Frustrating for the 1000s locked out every match! It's a couple of weeks since Eales said in his interview that stadium news would be "iminent" so hopefully we should be hearing something very soon.
  4. It certainly has as well. Here now (just having a pint at the Waiting Room at Durham station before our train back) and the number of NUFC shirts on show today is into double figures. Also saw a Rangers top, Fenerbache (my son told me which team that one was) and a Belgium National top and not a single Sunderland shirt all day. If there's any RTG dwellers around here the fewm will be off the scale.
  5. OK then. Mocked us and went and did the same. That better for you?
  6. We'll have to agree to disagree here. They had 10 successive years in the PL not so long ago and I'm still waiting for you to tell me about all the economic advantages and extra exposure they got from being there for an entire decade, other than a poster they put up at the Airport.
  7. Not sure how that benefits the wider NE area mind, and judging by the amount of empty crisp packets swirling around the SoL pitch last season on windy days I still think they do very well on the crisp sales front despite their lower league status.
  8. Again I'll ask the question. They had 10 successive seasons in the PL and what investment into their area did that bring them? What benefits did they see as a city from it?
  9. What investment did they get when they spent 10 successive seasons in the PL not so long ago then? They're small time wankers. When we spent 1 season down there and they were PL they spent all their time lording it over us rather than actually concentrating on maintaining their position. Fucking hell man they even put up posters in Ponteland (sic) Airport saying if you wanted to watch PL football you'd need to go to Sunderland. Hope they continue to wallow in lower League obscurity for years to come. It's where they belong.
  10. The North East doesn't NEED 2 PL teams at all though. I'm happy to see them languish in what has been their rightful position for the past half century.
  11. That actually looks quite promising. I was expecting mainly single seats with the odd 2s and 3s. Plus the East Stand is one of the most populated by ST holders.
  12. Called us flag nonces as well as they watched flag displays with envy, only to start to try to copy them and failing miserably Such a weird group of people but in reality we couldn't wish for better neighbours than this lot. Always good for a laugh.
  13. Mocked us and then copied us. Genuinely the thickest fanbase on the planet.
  14. It's a totally different era now. There's more fans around and football has never been so popular. Back in 2002 you'd never have dreamt that a club like West Ham would be pulling in 65k every week, but here we are.
  15. I can see where you're coming from like. Under the last couple of years of Ashley's time here, of the matchgoing fans I know, more were going for their day out around town on the drink as opposed to the football. A city centre stadium futureproofs the attendances I'd say, in that people will always turn up because of where it is. Move to an out of town arena, and when we're playing badly it's easier to find excuses not to turn up if it's a bit of a hassle.
  16. That's best part of 20 years ago now tbf. We were only getting 40k for some CL games (Feyenoord, Leverkusen, Kiev) and we didnt even sell out Juventus in the CL, or PSV in the UEFA Cup QF. Unimaginable these days. I bet we'd sell 52,000 for a midweek 2nd round League Cup match v Fleetwood if we drew them next season.
  17. Nobody pissing their pants here. Just saying that you have more control over where you sit now than you did last season. That's a fact. The old way, which was the best way in my opinion, was the same whereby you had to make sure you had to be around when the tickets went on sale to be in with a chance of getting them and tbf going back over the years that was always the case. It's known as first come, first served. Bottom line is still the same. The ground simply isn't up to the needs of the football club any more.
  18. And then can make an informed decision on whether you go ahead with your purchase or not based on what seats are available when you go to select your seats.. Last season I was paying for seats in areas I didn't want to be in.
  19. You didn't know where you stood really though. For example the Leazes and the Gallowgate are both Cat2 (as are the edges of the Milburn Paddock, plus the section right next to the away fans). I absolutely love the Gallowgate but I dislike the Leazes to the point where I'd sooner watch on TV. Full of moaners and hate being underneath the away fans. Had 2 successful Cat2 applications last season but sadly both were in the Leazes and I didn't enjoy it. Nobody singing, all you could hear was the away fans. It just wasn't for me. At least this way I can see what seats are available if I'm successful in the ballot and then I can make an informed decision if there's any areas of the ground to my liking that I can sit in. Ultimately the old way was still the best way in my opinion, but they'll never go back to that now.
  20. It's a crime ridden shit hole is what it is if we want to be brutally honest here. An absolute waste of land these days. Shame as I used to be quite fond of it as a kid 30 odd years ago. Something needs to be done along the lines of basically a land swap where a new stadium is built where the park is and a new park, hopefully one that is actually maintained by the council and monitored by park wardens to cut down on crime and anti social behaviour, is built in it's place as green areas are important.
  21. Bloody hell so the cheapest tickets for the highest category games will probably start off at around £60 then!
  22. That's not their ex player David Rush in the comments is it??
  23. Not applying for Southampton as I'm away. Any indication on what the ticket prices are like? Assume Southampton would be in the cheapest category.
  24. It has! We've renewed our 2 there. It's still by no means perfect, I'm not sure what is though, but at least getting the opportunity to select our seats, plus the slight chance of getting tickets if we are unsuccessful in the ballot is a big improvement.
  25. Here's our new manager. But enough of that........ Now let's talk about Newcastle United football club.
