I feel we need a timescale here, either in years or by job. I don't think he manages any of the big 5 (I'm not involving Spurs here) within either his next 3 jobs or the next 5 years after he leaves NUFC.
-
We aren't going to entertain Gareth Southgate as our next manager man. Howay be sensible here.
-
Same age as Eddie Howe as it happens
-
Who has mentioned either of those 2 as potential NUFC managers like
-
When is the cut off date? I could be waiting 25 years to be proven right here
-
If they flop in the World Cup I can see the FA going in for him. Was surprised they didn't show more interest when Tuchel got the job.
-
Can't see it. Will be interesting to see who they go for in the summer but I don't think it'll be Howe.
-
Time will tell. I don't think any of them will go for him. His insistence on signing athletes ahead of techincal footballers will stop him getting a top job in my opinion.
-
I think you're wrong. None of the so called big 6 (other than Spurs who aren't really big 6 at all) will go for him. Time will tell who is right, but I think I will be on this one. You clearly like Eddie Howe more than Newcastle United going by your posts on this subject which I find pretty weird tbh.
-
Spurs maybe. Can't see him managing any of the others.
-
You said your money would be on him being Liverpool manager. I think that opinion is beyond daft. They can pretty much have their pick of managers, they aren't going for Eddie Howe man
-
If you're offering a wager here I bet you he will never manage Liverpool FC. You happy to take this?
-
He also said the same of Steve Bruce tbf.
-
If they win and other results go in their favour they could be 6 clear. If they lose, and bare in mind they have to play Porto before that, and Spurs win at home to Brighton and West ham beat Palace, they are in the relegation zone. It's still very tight down there. I still think that Spurs will turn it around, for no other reason than they're Spurs. Everton used to be the same. Would look down and out then pull something out the bag right at the death.
-
Still think Forest will go. The European distraction will do it for them. Spurs look like the obvious ones to drop given their form but I still expect them to somehow pull themselves clear by the skin of their teeth.
-
Exactly. Not as if there wasn't any hint that he was an utter prick before we signed him.
-
Iraola, Xabi Alonso or Glasner would be my preferred 3. I think the former and latter would be easily achievable unless Man Utd or Chelsea get involved and Alonso would probably depend on what Liverpool decide to do with Slot.

As in a sort of player manager role? Interesting. Who was the last Player Manager the Premier League seen?

It won't turn toxic against Howe. Not a chance. It never really has towards any manager other than Pardew v Cardiff when he couldn't even leave his dugout. Considering how shit they were the likes of Bruce, Souness and McClaren had an easy ride, Bruce helped by COVID. Before that in the PL era the likes of Gullit, Dalglish got pretty much no stick, and going back further Ardiles was met more with sympathy than owt else (a few boos at his last couple of home games v Charlton and Bournemouth), Jim Smith was just pure apathy by the end as 15k watched on in silence, and don't remember Willie McFaul getting any abuse aimed at him but I was very young back then so couldn't say for definite. I don't think Howe needs the fans to tell him his time is coming to an end now. You can just tell by his press conferences amd demeanour that he knows it's coming soon. The crowd will stay quiet and let things happen naturally. I'm pretty sure of that.

It's been sung as long as I can remember. Least of our worries tbh.

Just to put this season into perspective. In my 40 odd years of supporting NUFC I would say Steve Bruce is my most hated manager. Statistically Ardiles was probably the worst, amd we had the likes of Carver and Kinnear, but Bruce was different levels of shit and incompetence given what he had to spend (£20m on Wilson, £40m on Joelinton etc) as well as being thoroughly unlikeable. He finished 12th in his final full season here which was met with disdain and negativity as it was a rubbish season saved by Joe Willock. Fast forward to now, and a £720m investment in the squad later we sit in 14th position yet certain people who weren't happy back then are now seemingly quite satisfied. Now just to set the record straight. Steve Bruce isn't anywhere near the person or the manager that Eddie Howe is. Howe is a genuinely good person and a good, committed manager. Bruce is neither of those. What it does highlight is how poor a job Howe is currently doing. People wanting to criticise what we are currently watching, and have been all season, are perfectly entitled to do so. He's quickly running out of time (and ideas). One thing I will say about him is that in his recent post match interviews he's had the look of a man who knows this.

People wanted Ossie out and we got Keegan. People wanted Gullit out and we got Robson if we're going down this route Ultimately though it's not really relevant.

Without a doubt. Elanga probably number 2 as well given cost and return. Shameful that they both arrived in the same window at a cost of well over £100m.
