Went there for a match back in August against Hoffenheim. They were absolutely rotten that day and lost 3-0, Diaby non existent as well, but the crowd never stopped for 90 minutes. An absolutely incredible show for support and this is a club that is known in Germany for having a bit of a "plastic" fanbase due to them being owned by the Bayer Pharmaceutical company and not member owned like all the traditional clubs. The Ultras in the Nord Kurve forced the players to come over and apologise to them at full time which was quite funny to watch! Went to watch Eintracht Frankfurt v Cologne the following day, 2 traditionally loud and well supported clubs, a much more even game that finished 1-1 but the atmosphere in Leverkusen was far better much to my surprise.

I think you're right there. Under the laws of the game that goal should have stood. He's been asked to go over to the monitor because tbh I think VAR were confused and once he's done that he's took the easy option in case he's made a massive mistake, which he has done in the end anyway.

Must admit we got a kicking walking back to the car after the match. Came out the ground and got chatting to a QPR fan who had driven up from London especially to watch Les Ferdinand play. Wished him farewell and continued on our way. All I remember after that is a Stoke fan coming over and saying "I wouldn't walk this way if I were you" and the next thing a big shout of "Geordie Bastards!" and about 20-30 of them just charged at the 4 of us from the other end of the street. Fought back as best we could but there was just too many of them. Once that was over we managed to regroup and walked round the corner to see a NUFC fans minibus turned onto its side and what I could only describe as a full on battle going on. Coppers came over cos the 4 of us were covered in blood and asked where our bus was. Told them we'd driven and we got our own personal police escort back to the car

I was there. Beat them 4-0. Was the worst football violence I've ever experienced in my life. Even seen a supporters minibus overturned onto its side. From the moment we arrived it just had a really menacing feel about the place.

I give up with this game I really do.

2 great goals mate!

It's a fact. You couldn't put up an argument otherwise, hence that waffle.
-
Yet their keeper hasn't made a save. We look toothless up front and if you can't see that's the reason for our downturn in form since Xmas then there's no point debating further. Our 2 wide players today have been awful.

The game where we're losing 1-0 and had zero attempts on target after 35 minutes despite having the vast majority of the game. What one are you watching?
-
Shite from Botman but we've got absolutely zero in the final 3rd like. Nowt at all. No point having all the ball if you can't create anything.

Remember one away game at Man Utd he had a few buses on and asked me "to collect the bit" as I was the one he knew best on that bus (him being on a different one). Collected the money (£1,020) and had to go round with it in my pocket all day which I hated as obviously full of drink and shit scared of losing it! Totally forgot all about it and Remember waking up the next morning with a stinking hangover and the money still in my pocket. He never even bothered chasing me up about it. Money was always easy come easy go for him. In the end I popped along to his house in Seghill a few days later and handed it to him. Seen him at Southampton away in the Semi Final and had a good but crack with him. Great that he's back.

Thought Keith lived in Durham? Got a very nice house iirc.

They had to claim an accurate attendance v Fulham in the FA Cup as the gate receipts are shared and it was 30k. Nowhere near that amount in tonight as it looked far emptier. 25k being generous. Not sure if it's just blatant lying or there's literally 10-15k ticket holders just not showing up.
-
Ah right. I think I'll be right in saying he'll divide opinion somewhat.
-
Until they have a logo which is grammatically correct I don't think they'll gain much credibility amongst the fanbase and beyond. Also I'd need to see who is behind this before I could say whether I could get behind this or not.
-
I sometimes go along to watch Carlisle when NUFC aren't playing and even they do E-Tickets. Buy your ticket online and your phone is scanned at the turnstile. Piece of piss. They also still offer a traditional paper ticket option. Surely we must be one of the last PL clubs to do give an E-Ticket option.

We were 1 block away from the Wolves fans in L7 and agree they were terrible. Brought decent numbers although not quite the full allocation as there was an extra block of home fans but they were virtually inaudible even in close proximity other than after they scored. Also heard them booing the ref at HT. Got to say yesterday gave me hope it certainly isn't a lost cause.
-
Very surprised with that yesterday. Thought the atmosphere was very good. We were in Level 7 (Row V so right at the back) up by the away fans and the noise up there was really good. Also got to sat that we could hear the Strawberry Corner loud and clear from up there. It sounded really good. Also noticed a lot more standing today. The front tier of the Gallowgate nearest to the corner seem to stand most of the time but one thing that you can also see from up there RE the Gallowgate is that there's a huge contrast in the 2 sides of it. If you basically drew a line right down the middle of it from front to back, the "East" side of it looks really vibrant whereas the "West" side of it looks completely dead.
-
I'm in Row V in Level 7 tomorrow right next to the away fans which I'm dreading but unfortunately that's all I could get. Not expecting much atmosphere from our lot up there.
-
I've always said the full Gallowgate. I think it's best when there's one main "home" area that generates the noise and the rest of the crowd can feed off. That's what the atmosphere at English grounds was built on whether it was the Kop, Stretford End, Holte End, Shed End North Bank or our very own Leazes End. You have your hard-core together. The problem with 4 separate areas in opposite corners of the ground is by the time 1 section starts up with something, by the time it's got round the others it's already fizzling out and with all due respect we struggle to sing in time at the best of times these days!
-
Agree that undoubtedly it looks fantastic on TV but the reality inside the ground is as soon as the flags go down and the referee blows for kick off the ground falls silent. It'll happen again on Sunday.
-
I was at West Brom and it was absolutely brilliant. One of the best away atmospheres I've been in!
-
Away fans seem to love visiting our city as it's friendly and also chocka block with pubs which they are all alowed in, but I'm not sure they rate our atmosphere as you can't really hear the home fans from where they sit. I was about 15 seats away from the Liverpool fans the other week and our crowd was deathly quiet from up there. There's a website called football ground guide where away fans rate their visits to various stadiums and whilst the overall experience of Newcastle City centre and of the stadium is far more positive than negative, the reviews of our atmosphere are more negative than positive.
-
If this is the case I think I'd rather start with him and give him an hour. We are desperate for a shake up at the top end of the pitch.
-
You literally said NUFC visiting is a bigger game for home fans than Southampton etc. That's what you moved the subject to Us and Southampton have basically been also rans for the past 15 years so I'm saying you're wrong. Maybe 15/20 years ago and possibly now and hopefully in the future but fornthe past decade and a half for your average Arsenal, Liverpool or Chelsea fan I doubt they were any more up for Newcastle at home than and other run of the mill PL team.
