Shut Up Colin. -
could be 2nd tbh could see Stoke and Pulis parting ways http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_English_Football_League_managers He's currently 16th on the list of long serving managers in English Football. Will go up to 14th once Fergie and Moyes officially leave. Only 34 current managers have been in place more than 1 year, only 21 over 2 years. Stability is a myth, Ferguson achieved what he did over time because he was an excellent manager and bought/developed brilliant players, he was also employed at a time where clubs generally gave the manager 4-5 seasons at least, the financial rewards were not so great and therefore the cost of a bad season or two was not really as drastic as it is now. Many Arsenal fans would insist that Wenger has long overstayed his welcome and is now actively holding the club back. If you look at the list of managers with more than 4 years service, how many have actually achieved anything other than not completely destroying their club. All of them, to me, have the distinct whiff of a club accepting mediocrity over success. Something we should never accept, but something Mike and his team of cash counters will be delighted with. Good post Colin.

Me and Ramm-bo get to renew our centre back partnership. Let's just hope the middle third don't fuck it up for us. BTW, toonpete, Neesy is definitely your first choice front man and KDT is a centre back. You're welcome. -

Not sure what to say about this really, the comments are baffling. Even if he was just trying to express his relief, which I suspect is the case, they make him sound very unprofessional and call his integrity into question. To express his pleasure at not playing in Europe is disgusting. It gives the impression he is happy to settle for mediocrity which will not sit well with the fans or the more ambitious of our players. I'm not sure anyone left actually WANTS him to be manager anymore, even those who are trying to offer reasoned debate must surely concede his negativity, the performances and his constant excuses show that he is deeply out of his depth. For a man who is often reported to be very media savvy he has made an amazing amount of stupid statements in his press conferences this season. Now we are safe he should be marched out of the door before he can do any more damage.

Hope nobody backed it.

Apologies for the lateness, btw.

Had a nod from the owner of Haaf a sixpence that it will win the Victoria Cup, 3.50 @ ascot, if it rains, which it has. Backed in from 12's to 8's.

Thanks Neesioux. Yep, one from each side. Clean sheet in goal first half followed by a pretty much solo defensive performance in the second as everyone went for glory. Fully deserved. I'd almost forgotten that pint though. I took one swig and nearly chundered. I think Nut finished it. -

Be more than happy to put a fiver in for this. -
Working back in the betting shop is going to be bad for me. Got bored and spunked £30 from my paddy power account in the last ten minutes. Bad times.

I'll just be wearing the white away shorts and navy away socks I have. Not buying new ones. Can we put the teams in the OP? -
I still haven't put the last set of games in. I can't bring myself to do it.

I've just done the predictor on the BBC Website. Got it coming down to a final day shoot out between us and Wigan. Norwich P 37 Pts 41 Sunderland P 37 Pts 40 Stoke P 37 Pts 40 Villa P 37 Pts 40 NUFC P 37 Pts 37 --------------------------------- Wigan P 37 Pts 36 I've also got Arsenal in 4th, 1 point behind Chelsea, 2 pts ahead of Spurs. Anyone fancy us to get something off Arsenal when they need to tie up a CL place, while Wigan have Villa who are already safe. I don't like the look of that at all. We MUST get a win at either QPR or WHAM. We simply have to.

I've got a XXL Orange Shirt for any fat bastards who need one. -
Don't see us getting anything at WHAM, arsenal will hammer us as they try to seal up champions league spot. The only game we can hope for anything is QPR, and that depends entirely on how much of a fuck they give on the day. We are now relying on Wigan and Villa to be worse than us for the last few games. How did it come to this?

I can't believe it, but I'm going to side with Mike on this. With a little tweaking of the parameters I think it could work. They do the same in both codes of Rugby and although their was a moot of uproar initially now everyone understands it, accepts it and enjoy it. The Super League Grand Final and the Premiership Final are the biggest days in both sport over here, and both sports have their traditional cup competitions running alongside. I doubt it would serve us better, and the top teams would still win more often than not. But I can't see how it would damage the game at all.

Most of the time though, he is actually offside. It's criminal. If it were just a series of bad/close decisions I would let him off the odd one or two, but more often than not he's a yard offside and looking all the way along the line. I'd beat my son with a linesman's flag if he was offside that much.

   You could fully expect someone who watched Portuguese football to think that sort of "professionalism" is perfectly acceptable.

I said the same thing to QBG on Sunday. As if it makes a scrap of difference that the ball is an inch out of the quadrant. Our lot could place it five yards inside and still not hit the right spot. I find myself feeling completely alone up in L7 a lot of the time. When a clearly offside Cisse is flagged for being offside, only to be met with howls of derision by the masses, and condemnation for the inept official. Not sure how I manage to spot it every time but nobody else does. Also, it really grates me how fans can be so completely certain of a foul not being a foul when they are half a mile up in the sky. See Gouffran on Sunday. Not one person around me said 'well it looked like he caught him'. They just screamed at the diving little pussy to get up I knew it was a bad one straight away, I didn't call it a sure fire red, I couldn't possibly see from my perspective, but it was clear he went over the ball and caught Johnson. Although, I would say I think this is common amongst most groups of fans. The bias displayed is so overwhelming it borders on lunacy.

We've been through it before mate, when Sam Allardyce was here and subsequently sacked. Some of Fat Sam's friends will still bring it up from time to time. Citing, in particular, that we would never have been relegated in the first place if he had been allowed to stay.
