    John Carver

Honestly, what is everyone's problem with John Carver? Im getting sick of all the negative talk about him, hes doing the best job he can with what's available, we've got about 600 injuries and haven't really had a full squad all season. It doesn't matter who was in charge Im sure if Frank De Boer came here and had a bad start the abuse would start flowing again Support your club and stop whinging about everything that goes on - Shaneo https://www.facebook.com/banter.4.nufc?fref=nf :kinnear:

  5. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/news/sol-campbell-confirms-intentions-to-run-for-london-mayor-i-have-got-so-much-to-offer-10071666.html Sol Campbell, the ex-England footballer, has announced his intentions to stand for London Mayor. The process to replace Boris Johnson begins after the General Election in May 2016 and Campbell said that he was “definitely interested” in running for the role. Campbell, who played for Tottenham and Arsenal, told The Sun: “We’ll see what happens. A few more conversations need to take place.” He joined Conservative party Chairman Grant Shapps for lunch in central London in December, during which he reportedly discussed joining the party to be a candidate for the 2020 general election. However it seems the party are now keen to accelerate Campbell’s entry into politics. Certainly, the 40-year-old doesn't lack confidence in his ability to aid the party's cause. Speaking to The Guardian last year he said: “I have got so much to offer. I think it is very important for the black vote. If the ‘black vote’ votes it will clearly push someone over the line. I am for getting people from my background to vote.” Back in November 2014, Campbell said the Labour party’s proposed “mansion tax” on properties worth over £2m was "flawed and not fair at all". Speaking on the BBC Daily Politics show, he labelled it a “tax on aspiration” and told the programme that it would hurt people who were “a way away from London and oligarchs”. Campbell put his Thames-side Chelsea flat on the market for £25 million just a week after criticising the proposed policy. Campbell retired from football in 2012.

  12. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-31299325 The owners of Blackpool Football Club are suing a web forum for libel in the latest of a series of actions against fans making derogatory comments online. Owen and Karl Oyston are seeking £150,000 damages from the Back Henry Street website. Papers were served on Thursday over six alleged defamatory comments which were made in 2014. A club spokesman confirmed the legal action but said it would not be commenting further. A notice published on the fans' website stated: "To clear up any rumours, on Thursday 5 February 2015, Back Henry Street was served papers from the court, relating to the Oystons' and Blackpool Football Club's intent to seek damages for six allegedly defamatory comments made on the site in 2014, limited collectively at £150,000. "For obvious reasons, we can not go into any more detail at this time. Thank you for your continued support." The forum has appealed to fans of the Championship side to help in its legal fight. 'Freedom of thought' One of its moderators posted a message saying: "A football club exists and prospers due to the support of its fan-base and Back Henry Street will forever champion the freedom of thought and expression in discussion of Blackpool Football Club. Horrible pricks
  13. Carver could learn a lesson in man management from a certain Kevin keegan http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/obafemi-martins-apologises-to-kevin-keegan-724815 Obafemi Martins has apologised to Kevin Keegan for his touchline tantrum - and revealed he shed tears of frustration at Newcastle's plight. The Nigerian striker refused to shake his boss's hand after being substituted in Monday's 1-1 draw with Birmingham, but says the incident was borne out of the swirling emotions of the Geordies' relegation battle. Martins' conduct at least proves Keegan's men do care, and are ready to muck in to avoid an end-of-season disaster. He has told Keegan there are no hard feelings and says he was told by his boss that players should feel gutted if they have been subbed. Martins, who has netted 17 Premier League goals in 48 starts since joining Toon for £10million 18 months ago, said: "I was upset when I had to come off, I didn't want to go off because I wanted to help the team. "I wanted to help us win the game. We were going to get the winner and I was frustrated when I saw that I was going off. "There were a few tears because I was frustrated and emotional, nobody likes to be taken off and I'm no different. "It was a big game and I was desperate to do something which might have got us all three points. "I didn't understand why I was been taken off so I made my feelings known, but the manager was brilliant. He said he understood how I felt, he didn't get angry at me, he just explained why he had done it. "He told me to relax because I had played well and that I'd been taken off because it was a tactical decision, not because he thought I wasn't playing well. "I like the manager. He knows I wanted to try and win the game and he is happy with that sort of attitude. We are not angry with each other." Keegan's man-management of the situation helped and the Toon boss said: "He is a smashing player and there is no problem at all. I like it when players are upset to come off. Anyway I am bigger than him, and I can't say that about many people!" Martins, 23, added: "We had to stay confident in what we were trying to do and you saw the spirit and determination in the side. "It wasn't a great performance, but we fought for each other which is what you need to do at times like this. If we carry on playing like we did in the second half I think the season will have a happy end." Newcastle chairman Chris Mort yesterday underlined the disappointment of owner Mike Ashley at his club's struggle and his determination to ensure the Magpies stay in the top flight. Toon face Fulham on Saturday and a win would go a long way to securing safety ahead of a summer of rebuilding. Mort said: "This certainly isn't what we bought into last summer. Myself and Mike are determined to turn this round. We have Kevin in to do that. "We appreciated after Christmas this was going to be a transitional period. The aim was to stay in the Premier League and take it on from there."
  14. http://www.irishtimes.com/sport/soccer/borussia-dortmund-players-apologise-to-incensed-fans-1.2092480 The central defender and club captain, Mats Hummels, also conversed through the fence with supporters who have seen their team lose 11 times this season. “If one is in this position after 19 games then it would be unacceptable not to have understanding of the fans’ reactions,” Hummels said. The Dortmund manager, Klopp, said he did not blame supporters for being critical: “What should the people do? The fans are disappointed and angry. Some of them fear for the future of the club. This is fully understandable. “We can be accused of anything tonight and it is all justified. Battling also means having the courage to take the right decision. We were missing that tonight. It hurts, no doubt. We are doing everything wrong at the moment. We are not making anything of our chances.” Dortmund face 15th-placed Freiburg at the weekend as they prepare for a battle for survival in the second half of the season.

  16. http://www.thesportbible.com/articles/brazilian-legend-ronaldo-plans-to-come-out-of-retirement He has not played professionally since 2011, but the original Ronaldo could come out of retirement and take to the field again. Isn’t that the best news you’ve heard all day!? Well, it is for us. The former Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Barcelona forward has hinted that he could make a return to football with North American Soccer League side Fort Lauderdale Strikers. Ronaldo is a part-owner of the NASL side and speaking to Sports Illustrated, he said: “I will try to play some games. This year I want to train a lot. The last three years I didn’t because I was too busy in other stuff. Maybe if we get to the final and I’m feeling good, why not? I will put my name in the NASL as an option.” But why did he get involved with the club? “I can’t be a manager, because I think it’s too tough managing 30 players thinking in different ways. I think being an owner is a good way to teach our players now the way I won. “It’s a new challenge for me. I’ve been working a lot in different things. Last year I was involved in the World Cup as a member of the organising board, and I was also commentating matches during the World Cup for TV Globo. And now it’s a great opportunity to manage as an owner of a great team.” Can we expect to see him do this again any time soon?

  18. Wonder if this could also spell the end for Beardsley
  19. Aye, hopefully he can revamp the academy, I think if we are to ever become a top club again, it will have to be done through bringing high quality from youth level
  20. Ashley doesn't want us relegated and for that reason I don't think Carver will get the job We just need to hope Ashley realises that under Carver that is a possibility
