We should be challenging for top 6/7 each season. However, if we ended a season behind Man United, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Everton and Liverpool, I don't think we should necessarily be complaining assuming we aren't miles off the pace.

In fairness - Shearer used to do it quite a bit. i was going to post shearer but I couldnt remember when, but feel sure he did. There was a stage where he seemed to perfect it. Solano used to roll the ball to him and he just smashed it low through/under the wall. I have probably imagined how many times he did it - but I seem to remember a few. One against the mackems I think? Seem to remember one against someone like Bolton as well.

I know what you are saying but it often means he is cutting back into the busiest part of the pitch. For example, when we had that great opportunity to break yesterday instead of just bombing on to shoot with his left foot or getting to the touchline to cross, he tried to cut in and had 3 spurs players around him and lost the ball. All because he doesn't trust his left foot at all.

To answer my own question: Marco Negri was bought by Rangers for 3.5 million and scored 23 league goals in his first 10 games. Apparently he didn't really celebrate his goals and just shook people by the hand. Sergio Porrini then hit him in the eye with a squash ball and he got some flesh eating bug and pneumonia. Then retired.
