What a mistake to take vdV off. He didn't have a particularly good half, but he drops deep well and provides an extra outlet for the midfield, that was really helpful going against Chelsea's three to four man midfield. And plus, Pav is just awful. Really good game, though.

The rule really shouldn't include fans. Especially when they come on an attack the player, no one can claim they wouldn't have done the same thing in that situation.

The sub was odd. Hadn't showed anything wrong previous to that, maybe Pardew thought Raylor would solidify the backline? But that just flat out doesn't make sense.

He's shown before he struggles after missing a few games. Soon enough, he'll be back on form.
