Thing with this argument is, historically we wouldn't beat them teams, with our "golden Generation" we lost to Portugal in 2004 and 2006, who where hardly amazing at the time, and we didn't even make it to Euro 2008, then in 2010, we struggled to get through the group and got smashed in the last 16 by Germany.

First time we've won a knockout game in three consecutive tournaments, and first time since 2006 we qualified top of a World Cup group. Not bad for someone who apparently doesn't know what they're doing.

Really weird half, for large parts they pressed us really well, and caused us to make some sloppy passes, mainly from the two centre backs, which they got a couple of chances from, and could have gone ahead. But as soon as we got the first, we looked really good, incisive, combative and looking to kill the game quickly. Both goals where great moves too. Bellingham is a baller.

I disagree with that, I wouldnt say Australia had control of the game at any point really, in the first half they defended well, where very compact and limited the potential passing lanes, it was very much a Newcastle under Rafa type display (One I think the Aussies should be proud of btw), but beyond that, Argentina had control of the ball, where passing it around nicely and as soon as Messi scored the first Argentina where in cruise control. It only took a freak deflected goal from a shot that was going miles over to create tensions, but even then, Argentina and namely Martinez, could and should have scored another 2/3 after that point, and it took to the very last kick for the Aussies to get there first shot on target, they barely threatened until that point.

I legitimately thought Argentina where decent, and controlled the game throughout and deservedly went through, certainly think they could be there at the end of the thing.

Argies fans have produced easily the best atmosphere of the tournament today btw.
