Wrong thread. ----------- Phil Jones finally completes his move to us. No idea how it's worked saying he was supposed to have a £16million clause in his contract. Reports saying "after Manchester United successfully negotiated a transfer fee with Blackburn Rovers" but surely it's £16million and no more?

-------------------------- Is Altintop actually a bad player? I've barely seen him play.

Would sell Gibson and Brown. Would prefer to hold on to O'Shea. All came through the youth academy. I'd be looking a few million more tbh. EDIT: £15m and the deal is done for me.

Sunderland have bid for Gibson, Brown and O'Shea. Thought to be around £12million.

Only got DTguardian on my Twitter. He seems pretty quick mind.

Where's the fastest place to keep up with transfer news since SSN is so slow?

His goal against Bradford was similar and probably my favourite of all time. In terms of importance and sheer quality, his best goal is probably his one against Barcelona in 2008.

That's what I meant to say. Couldn't word it properly

Yeah Ronaldo scored 4 or something near the end against Almeria when the league was over and I think Almeria were relegated, but still. 40 goals in the league is phenomenal as well. Two outstanding players and could well be #1 and #2 in the best ever.
-
Ronaldo scored the same amount of goals as Messi this season in a game less and and hit 42 in 48 in his best season in England. Messi should come to England, score 50 goals and then leave and there will literally be no-one, not even Red Cafe idiots that can doubt him. Personally I don't think you can say there's no comparison between the two, Ronaldo's absolutely lethal, Messi just has that little bit extra. I don't think Ronaldo could have done to us what Messi did in that final. That was unreal.

Around the same time Madrid had Di Stéfano. Some teams back then too.

It's certainly the greatest team I've seen in my lifetime. I can't say it's the greatest ever 'cause I've only seen bits and pieces of the likes of the Madrid team in the 50's, Inter in the 60's, Ajax and Bayern in the 70's and Liverpool in the 70/80's. The Madrid team is probably seen as the one that stands in the way of Barcelona being named the greatest ever, since it won 6 European Cups and something like 8 La Ligas in ten years, but I personally think this Barca side will go on to eclipse that.
-
Xavi did stick up an imaginary card in the first half, but it's clutching at straws, they were next to impeccable. I'm just glad we at least tried to attack and were part of a great final. Barcelona's display was amazing and had it been Madrid in the final it could well have been another horror show. He's not shit. He was just so out of his depth it was unreal. He was a major reason why we won the title, but it's a different ball game tearing apart Blackpool etc. and then trying to take on Barcelona. He was lucky to the be on the pitch and a glorified passenger. I felt sorry for him a little bit.

RE. Berbatov, I don't believe Fergie. It was said on SkySports during the game that Berbatov wasn't even with the team behind the dugout so it screams that something else was going on. Berbatov has come out and said he'll at least be seeing out his contract but I'm not so sure. I think Owen is on his way too and major strengthening will be happening this summer and a striker will be bought. If it was a tactical decision, well, Berbatov hasn't scored in 1134 minutes of CL football, but still, it's a hugely surprising omission.

You can only beat who is put infront of you to be honest. We didn't conceed a goal away all season in the CL which I think is a good record regardless of who your opponents are. I expected to go without the ball for long periods of the game but I expected our defence to hold strong and I obviously expected better attacking. We had zero wing play and through the centre we were ridiculously outclassed.
-
Complete and utter domination. Devastated. I was completely wrong with what I wrote in here a few pages back but it was my honest opinion. Valencia (lucky not to be sent off IMO) and Evra were dire. Thought Vidic and Rooney played as well as they could have. I thought Giggs would start but maybe it was a mistake having a 37 year old try and control the midfield. We had five in midfield and got completely overran. An uncharacteristic mistake from Van der Sar for the second goal really shook the team but they were completely destroyed regardless. People say we were destroyed in '09 and this doesn't even compare. Completely different level. I honestly think this Barca side can/will win the CL for three out of the four years.
-
We've won the league, haven't lost in the CL and haven't conceded a goal away from home in the CL all season. We're much better as a unit and we're missing Ronaldo while gaining Hernandez and Valencia. It's minimal. Barcelona are vulnerable, and we have the defence to keep them out. I think we're being wrote off a little too hastily. Fuck it though. I want to enjoy the day rather than defend the quality of my team. I'm optimistic this time round.
-
Really? Very little difference IMO. Henry was on the left rather than Pedro and Eto'o was through the centre rather than Villa. Not sure who I would say was better between those players.
-
Incorrect. Ronaldo? Incorrect? You ain't from around here is you boy? I know my team, and one player doesn't make it. The whole team was based around Ronaldo. He was/is world class but everything was through him. It's much more of a team effort now, which is key to beating Barcelona. Hernandez is a brilliant signing and poses a massive threat to Barcelona. Valencia will cause a lot of damage down the wing in both attacking and defending and Park has improved tenfold in that time. Nowhere near as good? That's not the case at all. If (and it's a big if) we're worse, it's not by much.
-
Incorrect.
-
To be fair, the ones who say that can't really be taken seriously can they? "To see United kick Newcastle butt 3-0" should have been the comment that disabled their opinion on football!
-
Against the likes of Barcelona it's more a case of him being asked to do more of a defensive job rather than have the creative freedom he usually has. Hilariously bad is way off the mark. He does a job for the team. He was moved wide left for two seasons to facilitate Ronaldo without a whimper.

Arsenal should be good sports and give Fabregas back for the same amount they gave us for Pique.
-
Apparently Evra has told Nasri to see out his contract and sign for us too. Arsenal must despise Evra
