  1. Wouldn't it be great if we could see into the future though? The important thing is that you get something if they turn out good. Like do Newcastle fans look back at Toney and think it's terrible business as he's been sold to Saudi for £40m and you got less than a million for him when he was in his early 20's?
  2. Who knows. If we have a valuation of a player and don't want to go any higher I respect that and it's a departure from the Woodward days where we'd just add £10m on top of the asking price. I don't know why we're still farting about with the same player if this is the case though. Decent sources for us said the fee was pretty much agreed but the structure wasn't. I trust Orny over them though.
  3. Anyone know how it works with sell-on clauses whenever the player has been bought in instalments? We're owed £7.6m from the Carreras deal, but say Real pay his fee over 3 years, when do we actually get that cash?
  4. Agreed. It would obviously be nice if you had some sort of psychic vision and were able to see who's going to be great and who isn't, but I don't hate letting these guys go as long as there's a sell-on clause. People are trying to spin this as a negative against Man United when we've let a guy who's never played for us go and fulfil his potential, and made £12.6m in the process. Everyone is a winner in this scenario IMO.
  5. If you want to be pernickety that's fine. Trent didn't run down his contract then. Liverpool sold their £75m rated right back for €6m. Awful business.
  6. Also, fair enough on Pogba. We wanted to keep him the first time and he wanted to leave, but the huge fee and letting him go for free again a second time. Madness.
  7. This isn't how it works though. We signed a youngster for free who at the time wasn't close to the first team. We couldn't give him the game time he needed so we sold him with a sell-on clause. That's not bad business, that's good business. You can't keep every single player on your books expecting to sell them for their absolute max potential value. It's like saying it's really poor business from Birmingham as they could have made £100m instead of £25m on Bellingham. Or Sporting could have made £80m from Ronaldo instead of £12m. Or Inter could have made £130m instead of £8m from Coutinho. Just simply not how it works. Whatever suits your agenda.
  8. €6.2m if you believe the Spanish sources, but wasn't that a loan fee to get him in early so he could play in the CWC for Real? Essentially a loan fee.
  9. You think a Spanish youngster let his contract run down so he could leave Real Madrid? Whether or not their contract was run down or they weren't rated, it's still a blunder to let them go for free. Letting Trent go for free was also a blunder.
  10. What's the difference? On a side note, anyone want Malacia for £50?
  11. We have plenty of left backs to be fair. Some young and exciting ones too. But yes focus on us making £12m in profit for a player who never played for us and not Madrid buying a player for €50m that they let go for free. It's Man United after all, you have to make sure they look the worst.
  12. I mean, Real just paid €50m for him after letting him go to us for free. We made £12m+ from him and he never made an appearance for us.
  13. He's third choice for Barca too after Williams and Diaz. He's also been twerking saying he could see himself as a #9 for Barca, even though he said at us that he doesn't like playing as a #9. He has no shame. His PR team should be along to boost his image soon though.
  14. Out of the gate quickly because he had a release clause. Brentford want £65m for Mbeumo, and we want to pay a few million less so there's a bit of a standoff. Given the fees that Kudus, Elanga and Madueke are going for, he's clearly worth £65m and more so I wish we'd just pay it now and get him in before we leave for the US. Summer window started well for us and it's went stale. Not too arsed about a heap of new signings, but no movement at all for the likes of Rashford and Sancho is really disheartening.
  15. I do. He definitely showed our lightweight winger who was boss. Awful defending.
  16. You may hate me but I love you. Especially that skittles drink you do. Quality.
  17. That'll be £300k a week saved between him and Lloyd Kelly.
  18. But yes we still have to pay Casemiro's wage for another season. There is some massive, massive wages dropping off our books this/next summer.
  19. The way that is worded is absolutely hilarious. Adidas pay us £90m a year. If we don't qualify for the Champions League it becomes £80m a year, and still the biggest deal in the league.
  20. More engagement for Goldbridge. He'll love to see it.
  21. It's OK to say you're wrong sometimes. I'll probably have to do it again soon with Elanga.
  22. Kudus played 12 more games as Mbeumo was injured for 3 months. Per 90, Mbeumo's stats are very similar for the last two seasons. G&A per 90: 23/24 - 0.69 24/25 - 0.71 So he's been performing at this level for over two years.
  23. Well don't you dare laugh gdm. This is a serious matter.
