  1. Piss take? Depends on how he's judging it. In terms of pure success - sure, I could go with Rooney for that, but in terms of general success, its silly. Newcastle had a top striker for 10 years for £15m. That's Mike Ashley levels of value for money! Yeah, if you go by the former's rule then 99% of transfers outside of the top 4-5 don't have a hope of justifying there fee! We couldn't have gotten a better player for value than we did with Shearer tbh, and we could have sold him for a hell of a lot more during his time here.
  2. Tell me you're not being serious? Assuming Shearer was 25 in 94-95 (I haven't been entirely thorough here) then he will have got to 101 EPL goals by the end of that season. Scores 31 the next season and 25 the season after. Was in the middle of his golden 4 years. Shearer didn't realy burst onto the scene til his 20s though so it's irrelivant, Rooney developed at a far younger age (and may burn out far sooner). A better way of looking at things is (amongst his injuries and poor, by his standard, final couple of years) Shearer finished his 14 years in the premiership with an average of 18-19 goals a season.
  3. Give me an R! Give me an I! Give me a C! Give me an H! Goooooooooooooooooooooo Rich! I'm rooting for you fella, kick the servers arse.
  4. Pretty certain that was a wind-up mind
  5. Just watching his dart down the wing to set Ferdinand up in the 5-0 again, fucking ridiulous for a centre forward to be honest, the cross aswell.
  6. I would say Shearer at Newcastle is slightly over-rated like, he was an exelent centre forward but his injuries obviosly affected him and he had to change his game. At Blackburn though (and before his first injury at Newcastle) he was unplayable.
  7. Shearer for Blackburn (and early Newcastle) was one of the best centre forwards ever. Rooney will probably never have a 4-5 season run like that. That been said, if we're just comparing them 'on there day' it would depend on what you wanted for your team, like has been said.
  8. Fucking hell I remember that Probably the most offside goal i've ever seen. Kalou's at Stamford Bridge comes close.
  9. Which Sunderland players reside in Newcastle? At this point it's probably worth pointing out that Gateshead and Northumberland are not part of Newcastle. But Newcastle and The Heed are brothers in arms man
  10. I would have wanted him too, why do you think he would have favoured Sunderland though? Scared of big crowds? Not only the Bruce factor (he managed him at Birmingham for a year in which he really flourished) but also the fact he's likely to be given more chances there. After a misfiring Gyan he's ahead of Whickham and Di Jong. Here he'd be behind the likes of Shola, Ba and fighting against Best, Lovenkrands. I'm not saying that's right it's very wrong but sadly it's true. He wouldn't like. Pardew may have chosen to stick with Shola and Lovenkrands in the past due to lack of options/unwilling to test the youth, but theres no way he'd be thick enough to start either ahead of Bendtner. And there is also no way Bendtner would have thought that either.
  11. Does any of this actualy matter by the way? Someone states the fact "Durham isn't Sunderland" and some whisky soaked bloke comes in rambling about the brotherhood of Sunderland and Durham County Cricket Club. It boggles the mind.
  12. If a black manager was good enough and applied he'd get the job. There may be a few racist chairman bit I doubt it's that widespread. Most managers in England are British, and most come from a playing background in Britain (probably from the early 90s/80s). Now I may be wrong like, but i'm pretty sure the very vast majority of English players in those times were white. I don't even know why there has to be a deal made out of it tbh, when I heard Ince was a manager it never crossed my mind "Oh my, He's the first British black manager!!!", I didn't even realise until some huge unecessary story was made out of it.
  13. Cannot hurt to just sling him in like, if he has a great 90 minutes it'll do his confidence the world of good, if he looks shite then he'll have learned a lesson. He's played in the Champions League, in the Milan Derby, and for his country, i'm pretty sure he can handle the pressure.
  14. Sure someone on here said they thought he seemed extremely one footed? I think they were just going off yootooooobe vids like so I doubt it held much weight. I do imagine though, that if the lad has been singled out by pretty much everyone as a "right footed left-back" that he isn't 100% 2 footed. His right must clearly be the strongest.
  15. You got a thing about using people's first names, Joey?
  16. So he chose QPR above a top 6 club because they offered to pay him more, though that may only last for just the one year? Seems pretty mercenary. He chose QPR over us for that reason. He wanted a longterm contract on a good wage. I don't think any other club would have given him it. Also i'm talking about mid table clubs, I think a few mid table sides would take him on for a few years at a reduced wage. Not the top 6.
  17. I think clubs will (and had) interest, it's just his wages that were the problem I think. If QPR go down they will more than likely need/want him off the wage bill and he'll join a Premiership club on a lesser contract imo.
  18. Since they signing SWP, surely Barton will play in the middle. Aye, I don't think i've said otherwise? Barton will play in the centre because there central midfielders are pretty poor. With Taarabt and Phillips they have atleast adequate wingers. This is the way QPR will more than likely go. However I think they would be better off playing Taarabt in the middle with Barton and SWP on the wings.
  19. Phillips and Barton on the wings with Taarabt behind the striker is the way forward for QPR like. Although there central midfield (on paper) looks weak as fuck without Barton in there. Especialy considering Dyer will only play about another 4 minutes this season.
  20. Doubt Joey will get the time on the ball he needs at QPR like, I don't think he'll be the worst signing of the summer by a long shot, and his 'fighting spirit' may help them through some games, but I don't think he'll be as good as he was last year. I've never agreed with the whole "he cannot play in the centre" lark, he's clearly better with the added freedom he gets when playing wide but he has had good appearances for us in the middle (and the same for City, obviosly), but I can see him been tasked with too much at QPR (when he more than likely will play in the centre). I think he will be expected to be box to box, snapping at peoples heels, threading balls to the attackers and chipping in with the odd goal. Basicaly what we (me anyway) seem to think we've gotten with Cabaye.
  21. Number 6. L'Equipe player marks v Romania: Lloris 6, Sagna 5, Rami 5, Abidal 7, Evra 5, Mvila 5, Cabaye 7, Martin 5, Valbuena 5, Benzema 5, Ribery 6. http://reaction.ralfvandenboom.nl/thumbs/WCSZORmcrs.jpg
  22. Too light? As in he isn't strong enough? He's not the biggest player, but from the little i've seen of him he's never struck me as a player who will struggle physicaly in the centre. He's also played a fairly defensive role in the first 3 games for Newcastle this season, looked great when he got forward a bit more against Fulham though.
