He's not good enough to come here like, but not for that reason.
-
doesn't cost more than 10m tho, under 25 checks all the boxes I would check that box
-
Joke, Right?
-
Why the fuck would we want Gibson, and why the fuck would he want to leave the Man U bench for ours? He's not even average.
-
I thought one of the German clubs were interested in Ben Arfa just before we signed him on loan. Weder Bremen, aye, we don't exactly know that nobody is after Ireland though do we? I very much doubt theres not if the reported fees are correct.
-
Neither do I tbh as I cannot see him starting, however if we are showing an interest in him then clearly Pardew sees a role for him, and if he's wanting an attacking midfielder I doubt you'll get any better for £2m.
-
The Ben Arfa argument aswel, another player who no body else seemingly wanted to touch who we brought in for a cut price.
-
Why wasn't he a solid midfielder for Villa then? Because he wasn't played in his correct position for a start... So even at his worst, he has to be played in a specific 'non-midfielder' position or there's no point. Are you pissed, Dave? He was played fairly deep alongside Petrov in a midfield 2 when he's an attacking midfielder who needs freedom. Would we play Tiote off the striker? Or Ben Arfa infront of our defence? Ner, because they would be shit. He was also coming into a club that had just lost it's manager and had a woeful first half of the season (the team and him). Using those dozen or so games against him is canny harsh like. I'm not sugesting he's right for us or anything like.

Honestly man, the lad has had a shit year at 24 due to a couple of reasons and people won't even take him at £2m At the very worst he'll be a solid midfielder, at his very best he'll be one of the best midfielders in the league.

...for about 6 months of those two years. Just saying. Before anyone claims I'm making a point about Ireland being better. Aye, Ireland has a poor 6 months at Villa and an injury hit 6 months at Newcastle and suddenly he's finished at 24, it's absolute madness to write him off. Still a gamble but not to the extent some are suggesting.

As much as i'd like a reinvented Stephen Ireland in the squad, theres no way i'd replace Barton with him like.
-
what an absolute wanker

He's been injured for half a season man, the blokes clearly dead.
-
Signing Ireland for 2-3 million would make perfect sense tbh.
-
Nowt wrong with that scarf tbh, it's whatever the fucks wrapped round his waist thats the problem
-
They have a point like, that article is fucking pointless
-
So would I for a reasonable price, but he'll probably come at about £7-8m and request daft wages on a few year contract? Would rather we paid Chelsea a decent loan fee and took Sturridge for a year (if it was possible).
-
Probably get a season out of him at the top of his game, providing this season was just burnout/a one off, and not the actual start of his decline. Certainly not within our bracket anyway.
-
There was no speculation at all untill yous had just decided to report that people WERN'T bidding for our players, for whatever reason.
-
What the fuck is the point of that forum btw?

Although I tend to agree, they are completely differant players. Barton offers something that none of other seemingly ever-growing attack minded players can, I feel we may be relying far too much on flair and pace when we start overlooking players like Barton (and even Nolan, although to a much lesser extent), who has proven to do an extremely effective job week in week out.
