I do think it's madness that Townsend isn't even in the squad. What on earth is someone like Barkley really offering by being there? He has no attributes that aren't covered by the other centre-mids. Meanwhile we've got one player in the entire squad who really hugs the touchline, and he's a fullback. I was probably one of the most vocal for not wanting him to join us half a year ago but I agree, he just offer something different. Barkley, Alli, Lallana all offer same thing, from a tactical perspective, you're not changing a game by switching Alli out for Lallana.

Defoe's record wasn't even that good last season, just did enough to keep a shit team up. Rashford is only 18 and obviously has tge chance of a big international future, so it makes sense including him ahead of Defoe for me, but I'd have taken Carroll for obvious reasons.

Wilshere lasting the group stages would be an achievement in itself. I really like him as a player but he's a massive risk, and not exactly a player we can just replace like for like half way through a tournament.

Teams who actually win the tournaments don't pick their players on form either like. There has to be a ballance, but I think Wilshere's inclusion is mental given he's been injured for as long as I can remember.

Milner's looked handy on the wing whenever I've watched Liverpool after their little revival. Klopp clearly rates him too.
