  1. The song they made for him is class up until the last line where they just tag something that rhymes to finish it off. "Who needs gold, gold. We've got two Silvas you know David and Bernando We're in indestructible We've got Aguerooooo" Ha, quality! Bournemouth's reputation is keeping 11 men on the pitch here. We'd have had two off.
  2. Remy did well for Chelsea when he actually made it onto the pitch. It's not that long ago. It's a bit mad that he went to Palace when they had just splashed out on Benteke, but maybe he had fond memories of Pardew. Cabaye did the same thing. Anyway, Remy got injured straight away and Pardew was gone by the time he was fit. Given his career choices, I would question his motivation before his legs.
  3. I think the zero points and zero goals suggest we've played much worse than we actually have so far, but I don't feel so good about this game. Another bad result and the "Newcastle in crisis" hype machine will go into overdrive. Fingers crossed everything goes okay.

    Kenedy

Sounding like we've might have missed the boat on this one, like earlier in the window. Given our problems in disposing of our present squad fillers, loaning a few of someone else's we can just give back isn't such a bad idea.
  5. Two seasons of Riviere, poor bastards. I remember that headed goal against someone half decent in the preseason and having big hopes for the lad. More goals that Falcao in the season before he came as well. Boy was I wrong on that one. SDJ and Lazaar next. If someone will take Riviere this late in the window, maybe there is decent money out there for Mitro.
  6. Bot created by Bishop. Aye, another weapon in the PR war.

    Rolando Aarons

I think Ritchie would have been hooked vs. Spurs without the injury subs in the first half. Chances for Aarons and Murphy will come, just give it time.
  8. Yeah, if its what we need. Kenedy, keeper, and a striker/#10 should do the job till January, and no excuses if we can't do that in a week. The football will be methodical and conservative, but we shouldn't be cast adrift, even with the odd Shelvey meltdown and Gayle "illness". Mitro out and last minute cheap striker in wouldn't surprise me, if that's the only way to get 8-10M in.
  9. fwiw, Rafa is already the eleventh longest serving out of the current managers in the Premiership. The top ten includes Wagner and Hughton, which shows you how long Premiership managers get now. The idea of him having a "project" should be something every genuine neutral football fan would want to cheer on. The way it is now, ten bad results and you get the sack, assuming you're not a yes man managing NUFC to Ashley's limitations. This short-termism toward managers leaves no room for "projects". I love the bloke and want him to stay, but him going will only be viewed as just another managerial coming and going. Scousers aside, don't expect anyone to have sympathy for us fans.
  10. The club was more than happy to suggest money was available when we were promoted and season tickets went on sale. It has since transpired that those fans were lied to. As ever, the question that remains what is the point in a sports team that doesn't try. In an entertainment provider not trying to provide entertainment. Since the club is irrevocably linked to its traditions and its place in the region, it reflects badly on Geordies and the region as a whole.
  11. I reckon the Championship flattered him, but recognize that his performances came without any threat coming from the opposite wing and some pretty pish play at #10. So I'd like to think with better players around him, he should fit in back up in the Premiership again. There is a functional mid-table wide player in there, of the energy and determination over silky skills variety.
  12. I hope having the draw at a convenient Chinese local time isn't a sign of things to come. As for the fixture, an easier one would have been good given the state we are in, but Benitez is good at cups and that gives my hope that we'll make it through.
  13. I'm not sure about the "stamp" yesterday, but the high foot is a booking at least every day of the week. Full studs showing about five feet off the ground. Mitro would definitely be sent off for it.
  14. I only saw the highlights and read the reports but I'm going to conclude it was a poor game between two poor sides. Shelvey out through stupidity and Gayle seemingly unfit is a mitigating circumstance, but one that we need to be better prepared for. Games like this highlight the lack of quality in key areas of the team. Their goalie keeping out Ritchie's effort also illustrates the value of a good one of them. If that is Huddersfield at full strength, I reckon they'll struggle too. If the six points have lengthened their odds on going down, I would say get in there. Souness is an arse with a chip on his shoulder and I wouldn't judge Merino on any comments made by him.
  15. I think I saw Rossi play for us against Everton. It was the game with the ridiculous offside Shola goal. The one where he got it, stopped to look over to the linesman, and still had time to knock it in without being challenged.
  16. Won't be playing. err... "old keeper".... "new keeper". That result and how we got it last year was well enjoyable. It's shaping like Huddersfield might be media darlings again this time. Re. counters, we had a 3 on 2 in the first half against Spurs but completely buggered it up. That quick free kick wasn't far off getting us something, so I thought we were in it and doing okay until the sending off.
  17. We made their old keeper look a right tit in the fixture last season. Worse than anything Darlow managed all season. I hope we can do it to the new one this time.
  18. Sigurdsson going for more than James Rodriguez.
  19. It looks like Kenedy can fill in anywhere on left side. I'm not against buying into youth like Murphy, just hoping we can make the crumbs go around as best we can when there are pressing needs at other positions. Chicharito will be the extreme end in terms of wages for a 14M striker. This low fee for his pedigree will probably reflect his high wage demands. It might be better to think of him as a 25M class striker, like Benteke etc. A more typical 14M striker won't automatically be on over 100k a week. I don't think Tottenham pay any (many?) that much.
  20. I think the window has been disappointing, but not terrible like some of the examples people have given where only one or two players were brought in and then with more regard to their prices than what was needed on the pitch. Since Murphy was brought in for 10M, I think there must be other money for a striker. Otherwise that purchase smacks of mistaken priorities. I think we'll see a keeper come in too. They both may be well down Benitez' lists however. With a better keeper, Yedlin or better backup RB, better backup LB, better/more competition at CB, better than Colback CM, better LM options, and Gayle + better backup strikers, we should do mid-table type okay so long as Rafa is around.
  21. Big wedge for someone who mightn't get in the team ahead of Henri Lansbury.
  22. I saw a list of Everton players recently and it said McCarthy was on 70k a week. That will be a stretch for many potential buyers, not just the fee.
  23. Even with the injuries, I doubt our defence will be as generous as Palace were on Saturday. I'd play the same team that finished the Spurs game, with Merino in for Shelvey. Maybe De Jong in if Merino plays through #10 more.
  24. Yep, looks like he knows how to put his foot through it. 1.92m tall and has almost always played as CF by the looks. The "Murphy replacement" tag seems appropriate.
