  1. Ugh. Agents sometimes advise players to fake injuries to force a club's hand. There was something a bit strange about the way the injury was handled, with him going out to the Middle East on holiday rather than staying at the club and receiving treatment. The transfer itself has the atmosphere of a charade. I'd agree with previous posters, that Carroll's agent would have wanted the transfer to happen, and he's the one who the club would have negotiated with. Carroll isn't the sharpest tool in the box, and I suspect would have been easily manipulated. The last minute attempt off his own bat to text a fanzine about his unwillingness to go is evidence of his naivety. Definitely, he will be having a few quid from the deal, that's for sure.

    Ambition

Can Ashley put that £35m in a Halifax account for the time being and get us a few extra £££ for some Championship players in Summer.

    Alan Pardew

Im really looking forward to hearing Pardew's first interview following the sale of Carroll.
  4. Dont players get a percentage of the final fee, if they dont ask for a transfer? I know thats what used to happen, in some transfers, they would get 10% of the fee. So this would be 3.5million for Carroll to have straight away... might have been a factor.

    Ambition

Means nothing if we dont buy anyone in the Summer.
  6. Serious question now... Have we actually ever not been in a profit following a transfer window... I cant think of one where we have spent more than we have received (whilst Ashley has been in charge).

    Ambition

Complete lack of ambition. I do feel this will be a massive turning point in our season. Yes, £35m is a lot of money, and i dont think Carroll is worth anywhere near that in the football transfer market when you have a look at some transfer fees. That said, Ashley having the money as the club slide down the table again, with no chance of bringing in players until the summer, makes no sense and just shows what a crap way the club is being run in terms of transfers and actual ambition.
  8. Enrique is a fantastic player, no surprise that he is getting so many admirers.
  9. Didn't he want 1 or 2 in before the Stevenage game?
  10. I would be happy with Ireland, seems to be that i am in the minority though. I have always thought of him as someone with a lot fo skill and ability, just really needs someone to control that. Didn't pardew say something about knocking down Ashley's door in the quests for funds? Must be one of those re-enforced ones.
  11. I personally think with a decent run of games and confidence, SWP would be a fantastic signing for us. Always someone i have regarded highly with his football ability.
  12. I personally think it is worthy of a thread, but there we go... It's my birthday today!!! And Beardo's.
  13. Agbonlahor has to be one of the most over-rated players in the Premier League.
  14. Any radio links for today's game? BBC Newcastle online doesnt seem to be working.
  15. It's from the Steve McLaren way of being English but trying to sound like a Dutch native when talking to the media.
  16. Very specific details within that article. I like the fact they have lowered their asking price too, what a great club! The other nice thing is that he seems quite keen to come and play for us, and to play in the Premier League, which helps.
  17. Carlton Cole will take that, one of the best he's scored lately.
  18. That's what Obinna thinks of Larsson rejecting the Toon's wage offer.
  19. There isn't a chance it will get overturned. Both feet off the floor, which basically means it was a sending off, Tiote's ban will stand.
  20. Has anyone seen this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fm4HRClnKFQ A Stevenage player actually hit by one of his own fans.
