  1. Can tell you've never managed a successful team. It's not their normal bonus It's stupid, likely to engender disaffection and demotivation amongst non-playing staff when the players let them down again. You have to ask why would anyone do that at all, let alone do it so publicly? Because we're now talking about that rather than the ineptitude shown on the pitch. It's embarrassing small-time bullshit. Go jump off a bridge.

It's not their normal bonus It's stupid, likely to engender disaffection and demotivation amongst non-playing staff when the players let them down again. You have to ask why would anyone do that at all, let alone do it so publicly? Or maybe the players will actually funking try?! and you'll end up fostering an already good relationship between players and non playing staff, lose or win. Obviously I don't know what the relationship between playing and non playing staff is, but I'd hazard a guess that's it's decent because if it's bad then yes this whole thing would engender dissatisfaction etc etc if we lose.

  4. Nah. It's a bit of fun that can potentially benefit all parties involved. If we lose, which is probable, so what? The staff had a bit of excitement, the players hopefully had some extra motivation etc
  5. I wonder what the non playing staff are thinking? I bet they feckin hate Ashley right now. Why didn't he just give them the 4k? Not on. :/
  6. He should just give it to her either way then, or give it to her for something she can control. Yes. If my bonus was dependent on someone else's performance I'd probably leave that company, thanks very much. Is not their regular bonus
  7. There isn't one but the smallest of stories have to be adapted to people's agendas. Nothing can be taken at face value after this season of pain.
  8. Of course it is, this is just a bit of a laugh/reason for us to win. They'll get normal bonuses or incentives like anyone else. Exactly. A good thing too.
  9. I'm donating my salary this month to a cat charity if Norwich beat Man City by three clear goals. Good on you, Beren.
  10. Is it not that the non playing staff will get their regular incentivised bonuses regardless of what happens, and that this is just something extra Ashley has thrown in?
  11. Motives matter. I call bullshit. The money he's giving out is real money, not fake money. The staff that will be receiving this money are most likely people who are in the median income bracket, which is in the tens of thousands of pounds. If they're £4,000 better off today at 5, that'll be ten percent or more of their yearly salary. That is huge. They won't be giving a damn why he's giving this because he didn't have to. He could clearly not give this. Maybe he's giving it to provide extra motivation to the players, so f*** if he is. He doesn't have to. They're paid to play and win. Now they'll have to put some effort in to be able to look at the staff that serves them on a day to day basis in the eye. It doesn't matter that he's covered if we win because of the increased prize money in the league. He's smart and potentially many people will benefit from this when previously the only one affected was him. Excellent post

    Loïc Remy

    That's what she said.
  13. It's like the Cisse thread all over again
  14. How on earth did the guy damage him so badly? What sort of tackle was it?

    Alan Pardew

Nah, I disagree. All of the teams that you've mentioned there can negate stability by throwing money at the problem and can still fail, relatively speaking. Stability for us/Everton/Villa etc is clearly important to an extent if you can see things are going in the right direction, you have the right manager, or there are genuine, substantial factors that are out of control and can be attributed to under-performances. I don't think there's any need to look past Pardew just simply being completely the wrong manager. Stability means something, it just means nothing if, for example, it's the equivalent of your parents fighting every day but staying unhappily married. I'm not sure Spurs fall into that category. Spurs have had stability for years now, mainly boardroom stability. They had a wage cap and sold their best players before getting cl and solidifying their success and spending more money. Even then they lost modric. These things take time, and a vision that lasts longer than two seasons..... Only slightly longer though as I think pardew will be replaced soon enough. Ashley wants success.

I don't think we'll play as bad as on Sunday against them. Our players will have more recovery time and that game will be our one and only focus for that week. Suarez is a threat, no doubts, but as long as he doesn't produce a moment of genius like in the 1-1 game, get a FK his ideal spot, and we handle him as well as we did for the majority of that Anfield match I think it'll be okay. I mentioned Sunday and in my opinion the reason we lost as badly as we did to Sunderland is because Di Cannio planned all week for that match, all week their sole focus was on how to beat us and getting prepared etc and it was all they wanted. Us on the other hand we had a QF we really wanted to win too and put at least most our attention on our plan for that game after the Fulham match which left us with just 2 days to prepare solely for Sunderland. Pardew probably just told his players to rest for most those 2 days so we went into the derby a hell of a lot less prepared for it than Sunderland were and that showed on the pitch because Sunderland knew exactly what they were doing, they even had new set pieces set up to try against us, where's all we did was to cross it and hope for the best. Good post
