Fulham vs. Newcastle United: 21/09/24 @ 15:00 (No UK TV)
Iwantcurlyhair2 replied to HaydnNUFC's topic in Football
Would be tempted to play Bruno, tonali and willock with joelinton as centre forward to keep Barnes and Gordon wide. A big Joe hat trick would be biggest redemption ever seen in football. -
Will be interesting how many do turn up. Looks like over 2000 seats have been allocated in the West Stand but as all seated tickets are now allocated I'm not sure how paying on the door will work. With standing and East Stand I guess there will b 3-3500. Have you noticed that Southampton, Bristol City, Blackburn, Birmingham, Sunderland and Charlton have all changed the venue of their home game against us to their men's stadium. Think the rest of the league expect more from us than we do! I'm there on Sunday and can't wait.

Good start
-
Started well, lionesses finished stronger but holding their own and not overawed. Charlotte has struggled since the sela cup but fingers crossed she gets stronger. Doing ok up to now. Hope we go for the win and don't sit back too much as these are strong going forward. Very promising start for a first game in a new league

The only psr fallout can be the decision to give joelinton a new contract and not sell him. This must have been Amanda & Merhdad's decision if it has caused Eales to complain about not being able to be the decision maker. I agree totally to keep Big Joe and the other Elites as it is fundamental to success. I don't believe Eales is fit for purpose and Mitchell just doesn't appear to get Howes total fan backing at all. Newcastle as a club have been built and supported by a wave of emotion and passion and we are in danger of losing that. Anybody who thinks success is built on a passionless corporate team need to find a different club. I longed to win something under Keegan, Bobby and Rafa but would have hated to fluke a cup under Souness, Gullit, Daglish, pardew etc. I loved the passion from top to bottom since the takeover and Mitchell just doesn't seem to understand that's what makes Newcastle tick. He must either fit in or **** off as far as I'm concerned. In Eddy I eternally trust. He gets us more than any future appointment will. I want his statue rather than any other and it wouldn't surprise me that if and when we win something an Eales and Mitchell brass bust will be ordered and take pride of place in front of the Milburn stand. Newcastle must be run by passion & emotion. Without it we become the same as everyone else. It won't work up here.

I think Amanda & Mehrdad have been used as a scapegoat for PSR. The overspend was under Eales & Ashworth's watch as there was no further spend in January. As jackyboy said the emotion has drained from the club since they left and the buck stops with Eales. If he did hang her out to dry and get PIF to get rid he better back Eddie to the hilt, as he will never win the fans back if/when he loses them. PSR appears to have been risked against selling Joelinton, so all Amanda did was give him a new contract. I would have done the same. Eales and Ashworth caused PSR and Mitchell appears hopeless up to now. If a married couple with no football experience can do the job they did it speaks volumes about Mitchell & Eales competence.
-
Think the transfer window has 2 weeks still to run. September 14th I think
-
If Hope's article is right regarding Eales telling PIF that Amanda and Mehrdad were holding him back, the pressure on him is huge and from both PIF and the fans. Hopefully Eddy has that much credit with PIF that any fall off this season is on Eales not Eddy. I wouldn't put it past Eddy to achieve top 4 regardless and dig Eales and Mitchell out of the mess they've created
-
Bunce's role hasn't started too well for Willock. Can't blame Eddy anymore for rushing players back!

A cup run isn't looking likely this year. We've been drawn in a mini league with Liverpool, Man Utd and Everton. My optimism often borders on stupidity but on this occasion I don't hold much hope. Should be fun and great atmospheres.
-
Season tickets purchased. Lovely to have the whole family in for less than the price of my L7 ticket. Here's to another promotion. Hope to see plenty of you there.
-
Unable to buy as no link. Spoke to box office and existing season ticket holders can renew from Friday. Looks like the 16th for new season tickets. £70 including the St James fixtures for the West Stand and £54 for standing
-
Fixtures released. Unbelievable not one clashes with my shift pattern! Roll on season tickets Kick off away to London Lionesses. First game at home against Sheffield United

Some of you need to take a long hard look at yourselves! Some of you deserved Mike Ashley. Anyone who says anything remotely negative about Amanda Staveley should be banned from this forum, Newcastle and within 20 miles of the River Tyne. Is that plane still going to Rwanda!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything positive about us in 2024 was driven by her. If people can't see that I'd take a white stick and Labrador on that Rwandan flight because you'll never find your way back. She has to have financial issues otherwise she'd keep her shares as they are only going up so if she has a cash flow problem, I for one, wish her well and good wealth and health in the future. She might e a 'ruthless' business women but the love and enjoyment on her face was real. No act, 100% real. She really got it and she will be missed massively.
-
I really hope Amanda's tenure ending doesn't have a negative effect on the lasses. The relationship, with both the men's and especially the lasses, was unique in football. She is very tactile and has personal relationships with the staff and players and was very open and loved a hug and kiss when the game was over, win lose or draw. With the Kingston park crowd she regularly held impromptu meet and greets and it created something no other clubs can match. This can't be replicated as it's real, personality based and natural. It's what makes us different and as many have said, she just got us. I'm sure the lasses will continue to be backed and Becky and Sue will still drive us forward but a part of what made us so special is no longer going to be there. I'm sure we are going to be competitive yet again and I wouldn't be surprised if we continue as we have and win the league again but it's going to be difficult to maintain the personal investment from the board without Amanda's involvement. A professional corporate management appear to be the wish of the majority but for me the close, hands on approach is what made supporting the lasses so special. Roll on the next signing and winning the championship

Looking back this has to be true. Joelinton wasn't offered the contract until the couple of weeks after ashworth left. This will be the reported friction between Howe and twatface and why it ran till the end of June. Ashworth would have blamed Joe for not signing the contract and sold him to balance the books and painted Joe to be the bad boy. I don't think it could have worked out any better in the end. -

FFS. Gat a grip everyone. We probably have £100M in sponsorship deals awaiting approval on Master's desk with us threatening a court case to follow on from Man City's. If we are close to ffp then it is down to Masters & the PL not allowing the sponsorship deals. Its a smoke screen to highlight the cartel stranglehold. We need everyone together. Stop saying they are incompetent. They know what they are doing. Of course it may be that they are playing us because we may have a deal for 'The Aramco Arena' or the 'Saudia Stadium' and trying to show the worst case scenario first. Anyone pick a Gordon sale over St James with 30 hours to go Whatever it is this a play by the club, I'm sure of it -

Nobody in their right mind can believe that our board have left it this late to balance the books, they are far too switched on for what's happening. I am convinced though that we are desperate to raise £30-50Mish to create wiggle room going forward for future windows and this is all strategic for the long/medium plan and not to balance this years. There have been no knee jerk transfers, galactico signings or desperate moves to date. (Even Chris Woods was a strategic signing that worked!). Have confidence that they know what they are doing. If we raise funds before Sunday we increase the £105M loss balance gap for next season's 3 year limit and hopefully 25/26 will have a different psr requirement going forward. PSR won't change mid season so this may be strategic to give us headroom going forward for the short term for next year. I am sure all of the untouchables will remain in black and white this season and I'm also convinced that Wilson, Trips and Miggy will all be offloaded to Saudi in July when their transfer window opens, all for decent money, so this weekend will be purely to maximise the next two seasons spend and the Saudi sales will cover for next season. Any sales this weekend will be for maximum paper profit with Anderson and Longstaff most at risk and all will be player swap type deals for players we actually want. Have faith. Everything up to now has been right with the board. -
Just got back and thought it was tremendous. Thousands there and everyone appeared to enjoyed it. As Heron said light years away from the prior regime and what a showcase to promote to sponsors. Look at our support, be part of it. Sick of cynics. If you are underwhelmed what hope is there. Free night, promoting black and white. Great

I really want to get to the excitement of buying who we want and restore a level playing field again with the cartel and hope other clubs join in. Its easy to forget that Forest were the first club to pay a million and that wolves and non Arab City were the first to spend £1.5M on players. I'm sure Keegan was the highest paid player in the league when he signed for us in the old second division and he was financed by our sponsor S&N. We broke the world record when we signed Shearer. The richest league in the world with the richest owners should have carte blanche to sign who they want. Every Premier League club should have been after Mbappe, who at the reported £15M in wages and £25M in yearly signing on fees, would have been self financing. No-one could ever argue that Mbappe or Harland don't warrant an additional £40-60M in sponsorship. The club profile would have gone stratospheric considering he alone has 40 time as many followers on Instagram than Newcastle!!!!!! (118M to 2.8M) Social media following would have immediately grown to the Red Cartel levels and would open the door to signing anyone we wanted. I don't believe we need to sell Bruno or Isak for FFP but not being allowed to bring in sponsorship from Saudi is preventing buying additional Bruno's to speed up the process. I really hope City win this case and we grow quickly with 3-4 superstars every window with a speeded up evolution rather that a cataclysmic revolution. If we are allowed to spend £200M a window our sponsorship and prizemoney will grow to Man U, City & Liverpool levels within a couple of years, but with regulations it will never get there. Spending money generates money if spent correctly and I'm convinced our board will spend correctly. I really hope City blows the rules to bits!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Anyone with an update on Adam P. Apparently ended up in hospital yesterday and missed the Brentford match after collapsing on the underground
-
To be honest its not as bad as I expected and when you look at the positions being vacated it is very sensible. It leaves room for a keeper, couple of each defenders, midfielders, wingers and strikers. Surmising that they will be bringing in a minimum of Championship level, if not WSL, so the league is again there for the taking and at the same time keeping the strength of the existing squad. I'm surprised about PBG and especially Naomi, who when she played always looked really capable but since January everyone else has been bench support rather than weekly starters. It will be interesting who comes in and at what level and experience. I guess, due to the fact transfer fees are relatively low, we will be buying the league and not holding back. I agree with OpenC that I would have rather evolved as wholesale changes spoil the relationships that fans build with players but if this is the way the women are going to go I'm still all in. Looking forward to a summer of recruitment and the season ticket release date. As far as supporting the team and not individuals, as Et Tu Brute said above I have to disagree entirely. The set up now with the men's team I feel is perfect for winning a trophy and Eddie is the perfect manager. Can you imagine having a statue of Souness, Fat Sam, Kinnear or Bruce as the manager who brought / bought success? Give me four more years of Eddie without a trophy than a Caribou cup and a Mancini or Mourinho statue!!! The evolution of NUFC men's team is what I love above all else.

I'm going to feel like a grieving father here. Wish I didn't get so emotionally attached as I do. Was planning on taking bereavement leave if Joelinton hadn't signed his contract and since then hoped this summer was going to be all positive. This club man, it really causes anxiety every which way, even if its for the long term benefit.

Not looking forward to seeing the list. I convinced myself this wouldn't happen.
