  1. Cabaye is 200/1 though far less likely. No sign of Krul though
  2. I'm going to be up all night looking at this stuff. Ben Arfa Player of the tournament - 125/1 Lewandowski POTT - 100/1 Benzema POTT - 40/1 Zlatan POTT - 250/1
  3. You can get 50/1 for the double. Some very good odds available in general in that market. Spain/Ronaldo = 80/1 Germany/Ronaldo = 66/1 http://www.oddschecker.com/football/internationals/euro-2012/winner-top-goalscorer-double

    Alan Smith

Smith has offered far less than Owen did but you're still right.
  5. Funny how it's possible to just accuse somebody of anything then face no comeback when he's found not guilty
  6. Trying to replace Tiote without us noticing? We do love a midfielder. The young midfielders we have now barely even get on the bench.
  7. It's a shame that these 2 well respected managers (Lambert & Rodgers) who were leading smaller teams to "glory" have jumped ship at basically the first chance.
  8. Can't be wages as they tend to pay similar amounts to us.
  9. Aye, that's how the media works

    Alan Pardew

Pardew's celebration for Ba's goal against Man Utd at SJP is fantastic. "Alan Pardew Goal Celebration!" on the Yousual site.
  11. Will certainly be interesting to see how his deeply flawed, one dimensional football goes over when they're mid-table in October.
  12. If Tottenham were in the Champions League I'd be more worried. Not sure he'd ruin everything he has with us just for the fact it's Tottenham.
  13. "Amalfitano – French-born but with Italian parentage – became the fifth member of United’s Gallic brigade when he inked a three-year deal last week. According to those with an inside knowledge of Amalfitano’s journey to England, he may just end up being the best – despite the relative lack of fanfare that was attached to his long-anticipated signing."
  14. Might be remembering it wrong but I think someone from West Ham said he was probably signing for Everton a a few days before he was shown on SSN at SJP.
  15. Marveaux was announced at half 7 on a Saturday morning. Cisse and Ba were fairly rapid iirc too.
  16. The "celebrities vs footballers" line was one of the best bits of analysis I've ever heard. Dave is exactly right. The fact that Jack Wiltshire is "our" great footballing hope for the next 10 years makes me sick, for a few reasons. If Newcastle were the club equivalent of England I'd have probably stopped liking football years ago.
  17. He's a positive, positive presence in the dressing room, no doubts about it. And as I said, I didn't really want him to leave. 30 goals is OK. That was his job remember, don't pretend it's some massive achievement. Carroll got 33 for us in his entire time here. Martins and Owen scored similar amounts too. Considering he only scored 1 penalty, 30 in 88 for an immobile midfielder is more than OK. Owen's a useless c***, so why you're bringing him up I don't know. Martins was injured and inconsistent so the same goes for him. Carroll was only really a nailed-on starter for 13 months, so his record stands up, especially when his other attributes are factored in. Bad, bad footballer who's good at getting a goal every 3 or 4 games. Bolton knew it, we knew it, West Ham will know it soon. Number 4.

  19. 30 goals in 88 starts from midfield is fantastic, especially in a time when we needed those goals the most. "Just under two years prior to then he famously stood up in the tight confines of the away dressing room at Leyton Orient following a 6-1 defeat in a pre-season friendly for Newcastle. "Right, this can't go on," he said. "I have never been so embarrassed on a football pitch. You're either in or you're out. We need everyone to pull together to turn this club around and if you don't want to do that, and you want to leave, then put your hand up and we'll help find you somewhere else."

    Alan Smith

If he considered himself a professional footballer surely he'd want to actually play football, regardless of the wage? Can't see how people can say he's a great professional when he chooses not to play. Depends really, what is he on here, like 60k a week? Surely the likes of MK Dons could only afford about 10 to 20k a week? It's a considerable drop in wages, especially when he hasn't got many years in his playing career left. I'd like to think that a player exists in the top flight who would slash his wages like that for the sake of playing every weekend, but I don't think there is one. How many of us would do that in his shoes? The 60k a week plus he was probably a multi-millionaire before he came here. So while I do understand the "take what you can get" argument, if he had left 18 months ago when he was obviously not going to be playing for us much, he'd have had a higher level of clubs interested, instead of the kind he's attracting now. Ending his career on such a whimper must be something that he'd regret in later life.

  22. Maybe the driver knew he had previous in that kind of thing? Either way, good on him.
  23. Yeah, it's called common sense. I didn't particularly want him to leave. Thankfully we signed Cabaye. So a player you didn't particularly want to leave gets replaced by a player you're not a massive fan of and it's just about the best replacement in the last 10 years? Constant amusement, as ever.
  24. Cabaye for Nolan is certainly the best in the last 10 years. Coloccini for Bramble/Moore probably.
