Signed for Man Utd for £3 million so probably around that.

Bolstering the midfield at last! Though we were going to be there short this season.
-
The point is he's saying all this then (seemingly) getting hung out to dry constantly then must face the media to try and explain "himself". I know football/real life analogies rarely translate but if our boss was doing a similar thing to us we'd quit.

Not long ago he was your England's number 1. The key word is ago. and even then he wasn't particularly outstanding It was just over a year ago he was a worldwide laughing stock. Even made it onto TMZ http://www.tmz.com/2010/06/14/england-goalie-robert-green-world-cup-photo-soccer/ What's the relevance of that? Exactly.

The bets could be from the people who first bet on him to get the job

1235: Sky Bet have cut Alan Pardew to 3/1 (from 14/1) to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post after a flurry of bets. The Newcastle hierarchy placed midfielder Joey Barton on the transfer list at the start of the week and with rumours of discontent in the boardroom, Pardew could follow the star out of the door at St James’ Park. The former Charlton manager took the job in December 2010 and after selling key player Andy Carroll in January and club captain Kevin Nolan at the end of the season fans have begun to question whether he is making the right moves in the transfer market.

The overreaction in this thread is ridiculous also.
-
This "Barry" is clearly just Barton in a wig doing a different voice. He'll sign before Arsenal.
-
Will there be people kicking off at Ashley when Colo goes? We obviously shouldn't be paying those wages again in the near future so it'll be interesting to see the reaction.

I'd have loved to see you try this when Kinnear was about.

Aren't all newspapers struggling now the internet is everywhere? It's the same as music/film piracy. If the newspaper industry can't find a good way to move with the times then the power will shift to us. Blogs, message boards and google news is all you'd need if newspapers went.

He could start by not saying stuff instead of making promises he can't keep. Theres a reason you never get a real answer from Hughton. Yes, lack of communication is always well appreciated by our fans. Hughton did it perfectly. No need to talk about stuff he didn't know/wasn't told and didn't give the press a stick to hit us with. I'm close to putting Pardew up there with Kinnear in terms of talking absolute nonsense. He's probably above Kinnear tbh. JK at least seemed to had some balls when it came to bringing in his own transfer targets (as s*** as they have been). Are you serious? The winter of '09 was just about the most bullshit-rich transfer window I've ever experienced in my life. Who needs tabloids when your lunatic manager is dropping multiple cryptic and insubstantial links every press conference. This is what I mean. We all get the feeling Pardew is not being told about things he's trying to defend/deflect attention away from. Kinnear was simply not acting like a human being.

We'll lose at least 3 more players before September. 3 signings will only cover that, not improve squad depth.

They've got the ambition to get there very soon. Unless something massive happens, Enrique will be retired long before we get back in the CL. Oh no my grievance is not with him leaving, but with where he's going. With the Manchester clubs, Arsenal and Chelsea I'd say Champions League football is far from guruanteed for them. He's joining the weakest of the top four candidates IMO. Probably the only team near enough to the CL to have made an offer? There does seem to be an embarrassing (for him) lack of offers to back up all the press talk.

Safe for who? Pardew is his safe manager, and thats all he cares about. He wouldnt want another Keegan on his hands. "Safe" as in a good, solid, reliable manager. The one's that are "safe" for him turn out to be very unsafe for him too.

As much as I want him out it fills me with complete dread to think of who we'd get to replace him. Ashley is yet to appoint a "safe" manager and next time will be no different.

How much will we spend this summer (should we stay up :))? NET

Incredible and yet not incredible at all that we're now praying, on 3rd August, that we'll end up with 0. -
Pardew no doubt "still hopeful".

I love this club more than my own family apparently, so they keep telling me anyway, and i'm not even a Geordie, infact i'm as southern as you get, but from the age of 4 i've had this club as the centre of my life, dramatic maybe but completely true. Ive spent more money following this club and than you could ever dream of, a mental amount infact. Like you i hate what Ashley is doing, but in this case i think the blame was with both of them to begin with but now its Joey who has made it into the s*** storm it has become. Was Keegan wrong when he suspended Joey was at Man.City, was Shearer wrong to make him train alone when Joey kicked off after his stupid challenge at Liverpool and slated Shearer in front of the team, there has to discipline at clubs, Barton may not like it but as is being proven he cannot behave himself, eventually the bad side of him comes out, when it comes out in some people it affects one relationship, like Cole and Sheringham at Man.Utd, they didn't speak but didn't let it go further, But with Joey it affects everything, everyone around him suffers. I know Joeys case is different but tbf at the start he had valid points but he has gone way too far, the poor little me act has shown to be utter crap now. This isn't about his contract, it isn't about loving this club, its isn't about wanting whats best for all of us, not anymore, its about him and his need to be centre of attention. Or am i as a southerner and everyone else who refuse to blame just Ashley being controlled ?. For the record I dont see myself as a southerner, just a person, partner and a dad, i dont see you as a northerner, i see you as a person, a special one at that because of who you support, that anti southerner attitute you have stinks and does you no justice. Agree with all that. It's very convenient that Barton started all this AFTER he was told he wasn't getting the contract he wanted. He was happy to stay before all this so for me it's obvious where most of the blame lies. Toys, pram etc.
