Another of his "hopefully" deadlines coming up then. -
This is what annoys me the most about all. We're being told that we can't compete with the transfers of Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal but we're not competing with them so why would we? Why not talk about why we aren't competing financially with Villa, Sunderland, Wolves etc as they're the teams we're in with? Also I assume everyone has noticed how the "our finances are really bad" talk has conveniently gone into overdrive?

It begins. I'm not the first.

Starting to consider the stability of his backbone.

The 2011-2012 Betting Thread: Last call for 2011/12 football, pretty much

Wigan lowest scorers - 6/1 Rooney top scorer and Man Utd win league- 12/1 Cahill top Everton scorer - 4/1 Us to win the league (without the top 6) - 14/1 -
Why can't we pay a few million for a promising striker who would take a quarter of the wages and might, just might, be a very good player in the future? We know Ameobi is only going backwards (which is some feat) so why not have a gamble? We do it with midfielders so why not a striker? Sick of thinking about this now. Pathetic decision, yet again.

I think if he asked for what those other players are asking he'd be bombed out pretty sharpish. Aye, but the players asking for better than what Shola got, are much better players though But they are first team players who aren't that great and we could replace for the same money with better players, i.e., Cabaye>Nolan. The only player of real class we haven't re-signed is Enrique and that's because he wants to play for a CL club or challenging for CL at least. Barton. Say what you like about his persona, he deserves re-signing on a football level Yep, sadly the football level isn't the only one that matters, especially not with Joey. Or Ameobi.

This is the biggest load of crap any of you will read today. Would you like to share with the rest of us your explanation for why he's survived at the club so long? If he's as bad as you make out, he seems to have fooled quite a number of managers. He's a Geordie and the managers think the fans love him because some clueless cretins chant his name (hopefully) ironically.
-
It would cost hardly anything to replace him with a younger, more hungry striker but no. Completely unforgivable if he's still a big part of the first team this year.
-
I changed my details when I filled in the forms in February and they haven't even bothered to update them. Noticed about 3 hours ago that it's going to my old address. Hopefully I wont have to deal with them again for another 10 years.
-
One thing to admire about him is that he single handedly stopped Stoke's infamous game plan. Never has a man accidentally defended an opponents goal with such ineptitude.

I've been going since I'm 5. I've been a season ticket holder or around 10 years, and I want him to stay, so f*** off. Shola may be frustratingly average, but he's Newcastle United and believe it or not he tries. Furthermore, he is - without doubt, our second best striker, so until this useless fat c*** of a horrible pricking t*** of a chairman f***s off, I'll stick with him over having f*** all else. Thanks. Good lord.
-
Looking forward to the inevitable trip to the box office to sort all this out.

Good lad. As I'm sure others have said, there's a world of difference between players like O'shea and Brown leaving Man Utd and Obertan leaving them. Got a good feeling about this player despite knowing very little about him. Hopefully he'll score against the mackems and get everyone on his side early on.
-
Exactly right. The attitudes would change drastically if they were actually paying to watch him every other week. It's vomit inducing to still think of him as our second choice striker after all these years. Cannot wait till Ba gets injured. Really cannot wait.
-
Easy to say when you're not paying money to watch him every other week.
-
Completely sums up the lack of ambition/investment if we're actually thinking of doing this. Another step towards the season ticket getting cancelled next year.
-
Could it be "If you can get him for €9 million then snap him up. He's worth more than €3 million"? Optimism, baby.
-
"I keep smiling at Ryan Taylor...I think he hates me"

Couldn't get a work permit for West Ham last year.

Pardew makes himself part of the lack of spending problem by commenting on it constantly, even setting himself/the club a new deadline every other week for those "one or hopefully two" players. He's making a rod for his own back with a lot of things he's saying regarding transfers, which is stupid if he has no actual say. Do you think there's a way he could have handled this better other than hand in his resignation? The Hughton approach, in hindsight, was perfect. He knew little about the transfer negotiations so he didn't comment on them too much. No need to build our hopes up with that "off our seats" nonsense then go on to be in profit less than a week before the first game.

Exactly. Havent we only finished in the top 10 something daft like twice in the last 7 or 8 years or something??? That's still no excuse. We could quite easily do it this season but it's turning into a needless struggle. What's Europe, 7th? Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs are imo obviously ahead of us so that's one place for everyone else to fight for. Not exactly easy imo. I was referring to the top 10 mention. It was looking very achievable a few months ago. top 10 ten isnt achievable now? It is. The next few weeks and January will determine how much we want it though.
