Yes lets wait untill the transfer window shuts and find enrique has just gone the day before so we have no cover, History repeating itself after carol went, Just loving the cameo striker signing Demba Ba we are a laughing stock and ashley is taking us for mugs. Just out of curiosity, what's the alternative to "waiting until the transfer window shuts?" Storming the NUFC boardroom, driving a blade through the chests of Ashley and Llambias, pulling out their still-beating hearts and hanging their carcasses on the Gallowgate with "let's see you 'spend' the Carroll money now fat cockney bastards" written in their blood? We could have our transfers done before the first match? As soon as the phrase "looking for opportunities" came out of Pardew's mouth this was never an option however.

I think Pardew often gets hung out to dry by Ashley etc. It's rather obvious Pardew hasn't got the answers to the big questions but he made his bed when he joined and now he's squirming in it. 2 or 3 more good signings would certainly appease the growing unrest however.

Reinvesting money the old fashioned way.

Him saying he wants to leave would probably have attracted a few buyers. It seems he's going under the radar a bit this summer which may be his intention. Head down and leave for free next year like you say.
-
Wouldn't call it a dignified silence. He could have ended all this ages ago with a simple statement. Saying what exactly ? What Pardew is saying. He has clearly given some indication that he wants out so why not just tell us?

But Toon boss Pardew said: "They can put together whatever they like. He is not for sale. "I am going to say it one last time, he is not for sale." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "We’ve given the answer to anyone whose contacted us that he’s not for sale. It’s as simple as that,” Pardew told reporters. "I can’t say to you strong enough, Andy Carroll will not leave this football club in this window. 100 per cent." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Andy Carroll's future was one of the items at the top of my agenda," Pardew said. "He needs to stay. He is the No 9 of Newcastle. He is someone the fans have bought into. "As long as I am here I will be doing everything I can to make sure he stays. In the short term he is staying. And he has just signed a new contract for five years. I have had reassurances about that 100 per cent, he is staying here." "When I sat down with Derek [Llambias, managing director] last night, Andy Carroll came up and he stays," Pardew added. "The No 9 shirt is legendary and he has shown he is big enough to wear it. It would be a massive, massive blow if he left but I am sure he will stay. "Andy Carroll was at the top of my list of questions because he needs to stay. This club has been crying out for another No 9 and he looks like he's fitting the bill, so I made it very clear that he needs to stay." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pardew said: "On Christmas Day I said to Andy, 'I do not want to talk for you; we are talking together. If you remain here it is great news for us. But it is important that you want to stay.' "Wanting to stay was the case that Andy put to me and it is great news because we will make sure he does. That is why I am so confident there will be no problem with Andy in January – or, hopefully, next summer, the following January and the summer after that. He is handling all the speculation very well but the most important thing is that Andy wants to play for Newcastle United." There's so much more but you get the point.

"little bit stronger"

Our friendlies start in about 18 hours. So f***. It would have been nice to have all our signings done before the America trip. 7 months just isn't enough time

You're going too far with all this now. It's just logical based on what I believe about our finances in the past and going forward. I'm not saying I wouldn't enjoy some big signings, of course I would. The team is the priority. Signing N'Zogbia would more than likely pay for itself as he'd be a player who could get us into the top 8 this year. We shouldn't be going for the cheaper/riskier option unless it's the only option.

That would be rather depressing. An untested player who hasn't played in 8 months preferred over a player we know is very good because he was free.
-
Who's fault is it? Zog for example. He loves the club, but is still not willing to arrange himself according to the current wage structure. That could make him a hypocrite. As I've mentioned before: It's could be dangerous to break the wage structure for one player, because it will set precedence for all future contract negotiations. If Zog gets 60 a week, I guarantee that Enrique will demand an identical salary, or more. Accordingly the club has initiated a negative spiral that is very difficult to stop. If we haven't bid for him all that is irrelevant though.

Are we just spending the interest on the £35 million? Would that be about £300k by now?

Your usual high standard of posts is dropping. Nope - what he says is true. It's quite tiresome. Pardew has (unintentionally or not) fed us half truths and blatant lies from the very start. To believe him at this stage would be very naive.
-
How is it nonsense? We need to bid for him before he can turn us down.

Sweepstake on the next excuse? "The website costs more than you'd think to run"

That is scary like, adding in Adam doesn't help either. Although I would have expected more people to back Liverpool's policy, based on the fact we're judging our own transfers on how much money we've spent. That's an incredibly lazy argument for a number of reasons.
-
He wants to leave and we want to sell but neither can happen if there are no offers. Stalemate.

Especially considering his sig.

We have previous with this sort of thing.

Premier League - Would a closed league with no relegation be positive..
Jack Flash replied to NG32's topic in Football
Would be positive for Premiership teams. Nobody else though.
