I used to like Arsenal. Even when Wenger was moaning on all the while. Played some great football, I loved a lot of their ex players and I have family and good friends that support them. I wouldn’t go as far to say they were like a second team. But if it didn’t affect us, which it usually didn’t with us at different levels. Then I would want them to do well. I still enjoy the football they play and he is clearly a top manager. But Arteta comes across as an awful bloke. Can tell he is from the Guardiola coaching tree. With how he conducts himself and also the football they play. He does it without any of the charm and style of Pep, though. He just comes across as an overly-emotional, bitter dickhead all the while. A real sore loser. Their fans and players have started mirroring his attitude and out of nowhere. The fans have developed some ‘them vs us’ type culture. Where supposedly the media and everyone else don’t give them any credit, the refs and PL are against them etc. It’s sort of working for them. So fair play to the unbearable cunts. For the record. I don't think Dubravka is very good and Pope has arguably been our biggest loss overall this season for how we want to play. I just think it's a bit simplistic to think that all of our out of sorts players, soft as shite and at times, cluelees showings. Will suddenly improve when Pope comes back into the team.

I think we will look a better side when he comes back. Assuming he isn’t seemingly rushed back, like it appears with so many players this season. I don’t even rate Dubravka. But I think it is giving a free pass to some of the horrendous performances in front of him and a bit simplistic to pin it on him. To just say his lack of sweeping is causing them all to put in rubbish showings every week. I’m not buying it anymore. Pope might hide some of the deficiencies and lack of pace for certain players. I’m sure we’ll get higher up the pitch again, at least. But Burn isn’t going to do loads better 1 v 1 or offer anything more going forward. Botman isn’t going to stop making awful mistakes and bad decisions all the while. Longstaff isn’t suddenly going to improve on the ball and I don’t think our front three will benefit much, either.

My biggest worry last night and the second point has been a theme all season. Was how so many players looked lax and uninterested in showing for the ball and also how clueless we look from dead ball situations. Which is partly linked to the first point. Players were making a token gesture off throw ins. But not really putting effort in to get open and just marking themselves stood next to a Chelsea player. If not, then just running off in behind without even looking for the ball. Even Bruno who shows all the while was nowhere to be seen a lot of the time. I feel like our throw ins are always shit? But this might be petty as fuck and being negative for the sake of it. The second point is free kicks and corners. I’ve moaned about the former pretty much since Howe got here. Anywhere from halfway and it is basically the Pardew set penis. Diagonal to the back post, with Burn/Botman playing the role of Williamson. We take an age to set it up and it’s not really causing chaos like you’d expect. I get we’re a big, physical side. But it’s so predictable and shit to watch. We’re not Stoke or an Allardyce team. The corners last night were pretty much all horrible. The only short one that worked was Bruno’s ‘corridor of uncertainty’ special. But 3 of our players were offside, anyway. Everything else failed miserably and the short free kicks we did try were also dreadful. The one right at the end being played short all of a sudden was a head scratcher. It did feel like too many players were individually off it last night for various reasons. Which is hard to pin purely on the manager. But ultimately their preparation is on Howe and the coaching staff. That was one of the most lacklustre performances I’ve seen from us this season and in such an important game, as well.

I hope he does and he settles in time. As whilst he looked very good against Villa and I think one of the CL games. He didn’t look assured in possession most of the time. People wanted Longstaff back in ahead of him FFS Certainly has the pedigree. So let’s hope no more bans and he gets a clear run at it next season. Also, I meant right wing/forward for the first part. Not RCM.

3-4 better players. Kept thinking CM wasn’t an area we should target. But someone on the right with some creativity and perhaps another midfielder other than Bruno who is comfortable on the ball, is required. I still think RW, CF cover and a LB/CB (depends on the Hall situation) are priority.

That’s fair up to a point. But he got done wrong side on the halfway line for their third, it was a dreadful clearance for the first and for the second. I’m assuming him and about 4-5 of our players decided against going to close down Palmer.

It certainly feels like that. In some ways, I hope it is. As he has gone from looking like one of our best CB’s of the modern era. To a slightly better version of Boumsong, this year.

Very good tonight. Quality pace at both ends of the pitch. They couldn’t handle him. So just started booting him all the while. Which the ref seemed ok with until it was too late. Difficult when Trippier is back. As he looks miles better on the right than the left. He has to start games based on that.

If he isn’t fit. Then why the fuck do we keep playing him? It’s the same for Longstaff. I think both of them look too bad to just be a case of them being below par all season. It has to be injury related. Whether it is or isn’t a fitness issue. Both Botman and Longstaff need to be taken out of the starting lineup IMO. They are putting in horror shows every week now.

He 100% still has my backing. Unless we completely capitulate to close the season out and finish like 13th-14th or something. Get the summer for some players in, some back to full fitness and some back available. That is the very least he deserves. But if we carry on like that. Fans will turn on him. That is the most frustrated I’ve been after a game this season. For all the shit performances, surrenders, supposed bad tactics, soft midfields, laughable defending etc etc. That felt like the worst showing all things considered. I don’t think there are any genuine excuses or reasons this time. We looked disjointed and sloppy after 9 days since our last game. It’s unacceptable, really. I couldn’t quite believe how bad they looked. Yet we handed them 3 goals and were let off a few more times. All the control we had against Wolves was totally out the window and it was back to Howe/chaos ball from earlier in the year. We’re fucking shit at it with the players we have available.

Positives - 2 great goals and managed to nick a goal back to help our goal dif. Negatives - erm. Everything else. I think that late goal gives something positive to close the game out. But it’s just masking a horrendous performance. We have had some awful performances and results this season. But for how bad the opposition were on the night. This feels like one of the most frustrating. Feels just as much like points dropped as Luton and Bournemouth the way it’s gone.
