I did that where exactly Don't believe I've given Ashley credit anywhere in this thread (except that his leeching of Rangers is fucking great IMO) All I have said is that in my personal experience of watching/supporting Newcastle, I have seen it much worse in the past than it is now, simple as that.

And yet we're "light-years" better than in the past? With 0 amount of "realistic" hope of winning anything? We have better players to watch, we don't have to stand in the rain or walk out of the ground through piss, so yes it is better these days. Oh I have hope we'll win something, same as I did back then, but that hope is unrealistic as it is for most fans of most clubs.

I was around for most of the 80's so I understand what you're saying, but what I don't understand is why you're arguing about who was worse. We had no more realistic hope of winning something back then than we do now, other than the standard fans hope of winning the next game. We never contemplated we could win the league (although hopes were high when we splashed out and signed Beasant,Thorn etc. and that worked out predictably well). We have as much realistic hope now, as we did back then.

You mean like when we got outbid by Norwich and wouldn't cough up £140K for Steve Bruce (he wanted to come) and sold every player who was any good for washers, and we watched Graham Oates and Wayne Ferreday etc. etc. those times were better than now ? yes ? No. But neither are they like when Keegan or Sir Bobby were in charge, or even as good as when Sounness or Glen Roeder were here ffs. All I'm saying is the club doesn't have the profile it did even in the early 00's. So we're not as good as our highest point, I agree, but our current "low" is nothing near as low as we have been in the past (which goes back beyond 1992), in fact compared to some of those times it's bloody great. I could be mistaken but I'm pretty sure I was watching Newcastle way before the 90's. We had a brief hiatus of decency in the 90's with KK and then subsequently later under SBR, we've been way shitter before those spells than we are now, it's not even close.

Thread title should be The Rangers FC, that is the current football club playing in Scottish second tier. Rangers FC died in 2012 remains in liquidation. (the immature genius who changed by posting name has made the same mistake)

He doesn't really need to buy Rangers, he's positioning himself now to own all of the assets (and he already has the retail tied up) he can own everything of worth and let someone else run the troublesome football side whilst having to pay him for the privilege.
