Breaking on Sky: “Tonali to travel to Tyneside to finalise the deal after the end of Italys participation in the ongoing tournament”
-
The issue being that they’d have to replace Kane with someone who hits the ground running and can contribute nearly as many goals as him (I’m presuming Maddison will contribute obviously, and the manager will get more from Son/Kulu). Without Kanes goals last year, Spurs would be well down the table.
-
If we’re building a ‘fluid’ midfield with Bruno/Tonali/? all interchangeable, we might also be trying to do the same with the front three, and have no recognised ‘front’ CF at all.
-
Can’t see Wilson wanting to go. Nor Howe wanting him to. Financially for the club though, yes, I guess.

James Maddison (now playing for Tottenham Hotspur)

But also is much younger and potentially has greater resale value to consider. -
Italian transfer window only opens on the 1st too. (Not sure if that means outgoing deals can’t happen until then?)
-
If it means that much to him, you’d think he’d want to get it done as soon as he can and whilst he’s still relatively young and fit. He might not get the chance to come back to the PL if he suffers a bad injury etc out there- the chance diminishes the longer he’s away from the league. edit- obviously it’s all ifs, buts and maybes though!

The likes of which Barca have never ever done? Especially to referees? Surely not.

It was always unlikely given his supposed wage demands which are beyond what we’re currently paying. Plus, although he’s a great player and would undoubtedly increase our creativity and attacking threat significantly, I don’t personally believe he’s an absolutely ideal signing for our particular way of playing and formation. -

Balanced against the prospect of relegation. Completely different circumstances now. -
No one else bid for him?
-
Numbers would seem so, but the value of getting promotion back to the PL outweighs what they will want in a ‘reduced because of relegation’ transfer fee. If they can afford to pay the wages (I guess a lot of ‘lower’ level clubs will have relegation wage clauses?) it’s a no brainer to try and keep your best players. Or else try and get as much as possible to replace them.
-
I’m sure at some point before the season starts the club will offer personalisation via post- they normally do it at intervals and are probably just getting initial shirts out at the moment to try and cope with demand.
-
You can via a personal visit to the club shop, but not currently by post/website.

He’s got an active 20m Euros clause. (Around £17m)

Mount is similar to Maddison, yes, but I’d say that Havertz doesn’t fill the same position. If Man Utd have decided on Mount when Maddison is available then they clearly want other qualities that Mount possesses over Maddison. That simply doesn’t mean that Maddison isn’t an elite player. I’m not particularly keen on signing him as I’m not sure about the fee/wages as well as his work rate comparatively to how we play, and where he’d fit into the team, but his stats clearly suggest that he’s one of the top midfielders in the PL. Tonali THE most creative player in the CL, or just Milan’s? KDB had the most assists last year and Leao had the most assists for Milan? -

Because those clubs have different transfer priorities and require other positions filled? -
Still no reason to sell cheaper than they’d like to. See Maddison for similar and only having a year left.
-
Levy will be happier he goes abroad than stay in the PL and play against Spurs, even if that means taking less money than PL clubs are offering. Imo. Whether that means Kane himself would like to go abroad is another matter, especially with potential records in front of him.
-
Why not? They’re under no obligation to sell cheap. He’s got a few years left on his contract- they’ll obviously want to get as much as they can, whilst they can.
