  1. To folk who don't understand goalkeeping, sure. He been OK, at best. That's a more than fair appraisal. He makes some things look pretty flashy, but that's mainly because of slowness/poor positioning in the first place. He's been fine. He has proven me wrong tbf, I didn't think he would be an adequate PL backup, but he has been. Well done Rob. Now go see Derek. Yeah i never thought he would reach ok standards tbf

  3. More about the approach as well tbh, would have been smashed in both games games under McClaren. Not that it matters as the bloke is clearly on a windup and not even worth discussing further tbh.

Used to like Milner a few years ago, he's been crap for a while though imo.

Yep. Scored 7, 1 pen. Scored 1 every 3 games in the league, which some would say is brilliant for an attacking midfielder, others would say it's s***, but only when Rooney is the topic of discussion. Wouldn't say it's brilliant personally, it's not s*** either though. Probably would be somewhere in between. Which is essentially my point. He shouldn't start ahead of 20+ strikers in the form of their lives, but he's still a very good player and it would be ridiculous if he wasn't on the plane as some are suggesting. He'll do well enough this tournament IMO. Couple of goals, couple of assists. Well i agree, my stance is that he should definitely go but not start because there are players who are more clinical in front of goal at this point and i'd rather play actual midfielders instead of a striker who can play deeper because he has the ability to do so.

I clearly stated that i was on about midfield and strikers, defense is pretty obvious at this point.
  8. It's quite obvious what i'm on about And explained it quite clearly.

Agree that Lallana is not great, but I'm not sure there's any point playing Rooney on the left. Smacks of accommodating him for no real reason. That said i have no idea who should be picked in the midfield roles and strikers tbh, part of it is figuring out what formation we are going to pick as Hodgson has used various different ones recently. All i know is that Ali, Dier and Kane should start, the rest is up in the air imo.
  10. In fairness friendlies don't mean much, i expect the usual teams to come good when the tournament actually happens.
  11. Colback isn't even the funniest thing tbh. Wijnaldum through the middle and Perez on the wing where both are more ineffective than if you swapped them round is more humorous tbh. Not that it matters because i trust Benitez more than i do any formation or set up i can think of.
  12. Pity he'll never be good enough /mole I guess we'll find out My problem has always been that his link up play and movement off the ball isn't up to the standard necessary. To use an example Kane's movement off the ball and ability to create space for the midfield behind him to allow them to excel is leaps and bounds better IMO and that's what seperates them as strikers.

Was gonna say, Kane has been the best CF in the league this year not just English either. In no way shape or form is he a gamble.

He deserves to be there, the problem is i wouldn't start him and would he be a problem to the squad from a chemistry point of view. Not that any of this matters as he'll be there and starting.

So instead of dropping an in-form striker, we simply shoehorn another striker into some stupid position in some stupid formation to accomodate him. Yet i very much expect that to happen scared of it being a reality sadly.

It did last time after the Italy game, i was so happy with how we played despite the result that i started to believe. Never again though.

Gonna be a laugh when Sturridge is actually fit for a couple of weeks and both he and Vardy are on the bench while Rooney is passing back to the keeper.

Foster is capable at this level imo. Hart, Butland & Forster are all top class keepers. Nowt to worry about. Except they aren't, Hart can be but he's inconsistent as hell. There's a difference between facing the best at international level and performing well in the Premier League. A lot of these players are an example of that gulf in class.

Think we do tbf, it's a harsh lesson but it's an apt one considering that's what quality teams do.
