On the basis of what exactly here? I'm assuming if he was a better CM than winger, a club, manager, coach would have picked this up and played him regularly in this position before the ripe age of 29. Because he has lost some of his pace and now CM suits him much more. His close control, ball carrying abilities, possession recycling, tackling, interceptions, quick and incisive passing all suit a CM. He does fantastically well as a defensive winger ala Ramires but going forward he doesn't create enough any more so he's suited in the middle a lot more. Doesn't mean he's useless as a winger ( far from it in fact) but his skill set suits a CM more than a winger.

Yep, practically all his attributes are better suited to CM. Although his work rate cannot be underestimated and against a team that heavily uses the wings he will be important.

The mere fact the Dutch media reckon Van der Wiel turned us down while were negotiating for Anita tells me that regardless of the fact Anita can play fullback we still want an fullback and a attacking one at that. Whether we get Debuchy or not i don't know but i'm confident we will get a fullback in before the end of the window.

If Tiote is indeed injured, i still think he will play personally but if he is then i'm sure Pards will have no problem chucking Anita in. It's not like he's had no pre-season or is lacking fitness of any kind.

Jonas I reckon. Front 6 of Cabaye Tiote Anita HBA Cisse Ba With Cabaye pushing forward more helping the attack and Anite/Tiote sitting back. Sometimes we might have Jonas in a carrier role against weaker teams. IMO. How i see it too, hopefully we get Debuchy in as well to add some extra width. Also before anyone mentions anything about Jonas being dropped. (because there will be at least one) Due to the amount of games, suspensions, injurys,rotation etc etc he will still play a massive part and i'm certain he will play 30+ games.

All these formations are basically showing what our very best team could be and what system could fit them all, but we don't have a squad of super human's with so many games there will be injuries, suspensions, rotation etc etc. I will be shocked if Jonas still doesn't have more than 30 appearances come the end of the season, especially considering his versatility.

Pardew wouldn't do it but I would have Perch in for Simpson and that would be my formation also. You say that but we played that exact system in one of our pre-season friendly's....
