Fucking hell, I'm going to have to stop reading this thread, it's depressing as fuck
-
The change is quite noticeable - I remember when he first took over one of the things I liked best about him was he never complained about injuries - would say it was an opportunity for another player instead. Get the impression this season is really grinding him down - the approach he knows isn't working any more and he's really struggling to adapt. Good thing is that if he does get through this spell he should be a lot stronger/wiser for it, but the signs aren't too good right now.

Well this is disappointing. Even if we match West Ham's bid they're almost certain to offer higher wages. Think our transfer model needs to do some evolving, and pretty sharpish too.

Stat from Twitter: Nigel Adkins has best win % of any manager in So'ton history. Rise of 48 places in league pyramid in 26 months under him -

Such strange timing - they're unbeaten in 5, including draws with Arsenal and away at Chelsea. -

I think it would TBH, not many people outside of this forum are even talking about sacking Pardew. That's complete utter bollocks. Thanks for that measured response. Obviously the only Newcastle fans I really mix with on a day-to-day basis are on here, my feedback is mostly from fans of other clubs. Sorry Ian but I'm sick of people saying that this forum is the only place that NUFC fans want Pardew sacked. Yes it's probably higher on here but plenty want him out. I think the true position is pretty much as stated in that nufc.com article - he still has widespread support thanks to the success of last season but it really is close to running out - he needs an upturn in results, and quickly. -
Never saw him play, he left Newcastle a couple of years before I started going but he lived up the road from us and I used to hang out with his son a bit. Was a canny lad, and always had all the latest toys - motorised car and shit like that - was epic stuff back in those days.
-
That's what I'm pinning my hopes on!
-
Aye, think they've got it about right. Not strengthening sufficiently in the rest of the window will see a lot of fans patience snap, and Pardew will have to take his share of the blame as even if he has no direct involvement in incomings he simply has to be making the case in sufficiently compelling terms.
-
Now you're just being greedy!
-
Why the panic, he's just saying we're not too good to go down - would be accused of complacency if he said otherwise. And QPR do have a stronger squad than us, have you seen the size of the bastard, they've bought dozens of players lately!
-
Gouffran's a left winger/forward so would be much more the type we should be going for IMO. Although we should buy both really. Not a bad call. Unlikely, obviously but would give us a lot more options
-
5 million makes him about the same price as that Gouffran chap, and about the same age. So do we want someone proven in the league who will play his heart out for his local team and can hit the ground running or a French lad who might go up in value...

Weather forecast for the next couple of days has improved, not as much snow expected now so should be fine I reckon
-
To win something before I die would be just lovely.
-
Fucking hell man
-
Well it could be a good sign, but it could equally be a very, very bad one....

So what are everyone's expectations of what constitutes a decent transfer window from here? I've already said I think we need a striker and a CB - if we get them (and one of them isn't David N'Gog ) will people be generally satisfied?
-
Broadly agree with that - after the Reading game (which we should be able to win with what we have available) there's a 10 day gap to Villa at which point the window is almost shut anyway, so we'll have the perfect opportunity to conclude some business. Think we'll definitely get a striker and a CB, but they may be stop-gap options in the Danny Graham mould rather than our top targets. If we don't then everyone will be rightly pissed off - fwiw I think we would still have enough in the squad to stay up, but would be one serious injury to Cisse away from shit creek.
-
I would argue that what QPR are doing is the opposite of fair play - their wage bill is already double their turnover, an option most clubs just don't have. Plus, the actions they're taking now could potentially destroy the club completely if the rich benefactor decides to walk away, not a position I would like to be in.
-
Be interesting to hear what he has to say tomorrow as I would imagine he's just as pissed off about the Remy situation as the rest of us. Good that there's a 10 day break after the Reading game I reckon, give us chance to do some more transfer business...
-
QPR vs. NUFC to stave off relegation will be like the South Park cripple fight. Do we still have to play them at QPR yet? That could be embarrassing. Second last game of the season....
-
In their last published accounts (2010-11) their wage bill was 183% of turnover. That didn't include any of the ridiculous overpaid "stars" they've signed in the last 12 months. I think it's safe to say they don't give a fuck about financial fair play.

He's scored 40 goals in 78 games in the last 2 seasons. By way of comparison Shola has 34 goals in the last 8 seasons Looks like he might be just a little more proficient than wor Shola!
