  1. It's not just since Kinnear has been here that Pardew has uttered these sort of things before. It's every transfer window. At the start 'we need 3 or 4' then as time goes on it wittles down to something like 'if we can get one over the line before the window closing we'll have done well' Pardew has such a cowardly persona when it comes to this stuff. I will repeat it though, working for Ashley must be nightmarish.
  2. It's absolute rubbish. Players have been moving everywhere for a few weeks now and we aint done anything.
  3. What the fuck is he talking about man? I don't think he knows himself now.

Agreed he hangs on to the ball far to long, doing these stupid swivels and then losing it. His confidence seemed shot all of last season.

He should watch Jack Wilshere play. The kid is going to be phenomenal if he progresses in the right way. Different type of player. Wilshere is a footballer for starters who is up and down the pitch and can pick a pass. Tiote attempts these things and makes a total mess of it usually. Tiote needs to go back to doing what he did when he looked an excellent player. Sitting in front of his defence, winning possession in a strong and aggressive fashion and then distributing possession in a sensible and tidy manner. He did it so well and it worked in it's simplicity. It's since he's attempted to be something he isn't his game has gone totally pear shaped.

Eh? I'm not disagreeing with you.

Jonas is shocking in the middle of the park man come on. He and Tiote are as bad as each other.
  8. What about the stature of our club? I know it seems hard to believe now, but for a couple of seasons around the Keegan era they were looking up the table wondering how they could achieve our CL position. that was nearly 20 years ago man christ oldham were in the league not long before if we're bringing stuff up that far back. They've won a fair few trophies since then and should have won more, had amazing sides, and are in the champions league annually. In that 20 year spell since Keegan they'v done far more than we could ever dream of whilst we have plodded along in the farcical manner we generally go by. They'd done quite a bit before then also, excluding that wobbly spell they had when we were flying.
  9. Expectations at Arsenal are of going for trophies and winning them. Something they haven't done in a while. They have money and an exceptional manager, yet they never seem to go for the jugular in the transfer market to make a statement to their rivals. Their frustrations are understandable imo when you look at the stature of the club.
  10. I find it hard to believe they know much about it, although the conclusion is probably not far off even if it's guesswork. This summer is a glorified version of last summer. Kinnear is a ridiculous and ludicrous person to finalise transfers, but Ashley will have known that when he appointed him and will no doubt be comfortable with it knowing little will likely get done in the market. It's all Ashley, everything bad seeping through this club is down to him.
  11. The most unsolvable of mysteries.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

They should probably stop releasing pictures of him looking like Fatty McBurgermuncher then. You'd have thought someone at our press would have looked at that and told them to take another one like. Even common sense stuff we cant get right at the minute
  13. It's both. The mediocre club feeling has been planted by Ashley's ways but there is absolutely no need for the fuel Pardew keeps throwing on the fire.
  14. I like hearing away fans from the opposite side of the ground when their team scores. On Tv this, not when i'm at at SJP obviously.
  15. Well said. Clubs are trying to make a difference and look at us doing nothing. Not suggesting we blow money on shit players but fucking hell do something.

    Football pet hates

Proper love players appreciating a team mate after a goal. As you pointed out Nobby was fantastic at letting the everyone know who created that chance. One of my favourite ever Newcastle players.
  17. Yellow kit is ok but again Wonga just destroys anything good about it. Think we've beaten Sheff Wed and Chuppa Chups with shite sponsor that ruins rest of shirt look.
  18. Fairly obvious thing to say but whilst Ashley's affection for this club is as low at is the spending will be minimal from now till the day he finally fucks off. This is probably the start of it.
  19. fairly sure they said deals were already agreed for gouffran and sissoko for the summer (on frees) and were brought forward due to the situation. debuchy was a hangover from last summer, not sure where mapou came into it. wey if we're not spending this summer because we were forced to spend relative pittance in order to bring forward what would have been a couple of free transfers then that's even worse The deals were done to avoid the drop. I think Ashley saw Reading game and it forced his hand. If he can get away without spending money he will, if we'd been cruising he may not have felt the need to spend. thats the bit where i disagree with most as i think he would if, like mapou, he believes theres enough value in the deal. Perhaps, but if say during January we'd been something like 7th or 8th and comfortable, it's quite possible MYB wouldn't be at the club and we'd be going through the same tedious stuff now with trying to get him here. It's maybe a cynical view but not unlikely.

  21. imo that money still wouldn't have been spent had we been higher up the table. Ridiculous really.
  22. Still think that our spending was done in January is a terrible excuse.
