Yes the summer we got Cabaye, Ba etc turned out well but look at all them deals - all gave the slant of opportunism and bargains. He's far better when he is advanced imo. That's when we see the best of him.

I wouldn't use the word massively, but imo he is overrated. He can be a deadly player at times but when he's not in the game he really goes into his shell. As tidy as his passing usually is his long balls are often dreadful, swinging around all over the place in the air and never reaching supposed targets. And his delivery is just plain poor. He's a good player but he got elevated to silly levels after his first season with us (imo) Undoubtedly if he leaves he will look far better than he has here recently and will evolve as a player but I genuinely won't be that gutted to see him leave.

He's not spectacular but he's very useful - if we get a rake of injuries again this season players of Perch's ilk are ideal. I thought he was one of very few to come out of last season with any credit.

Very controversial but i think he's more creative than Hatem, i have never seen Hatem pick out the passes that Marveaux seems to be able to do quite regularly. Shame Pardew doesn't seem to start him very often. Edit: Ron's beat me to it Suppose, maybe meant in terms of Hatems ability to pluck something out of nothing. Marv is a seriously underrated player, one of the bright spots in our shit season just gone.

Think they're effectively poaching young players to avoid other clubs getting them and if they don't turn out as planned, they get rid. Money hardly an issue.
