Not at all, he was a very adequate squad player. I reckon we will miss Perch next season too when Williamson is up against someone quick or Gosling is getting games in midfield/Tiote is giving away easy passes or playing up to his Chuck Norris persona. You're right but I do understand his point. When Best left quite a lot of us perhaps stupidly accepted it as we thought we were moving on to better things and that he would be upgraded suitably that summer. Also I think even the most negative of fans didn't envisage JFK turning back up and casting his spell. I wasn't to sad to Best leave but given our circumstances at the moment he'd probably be welcomed back.

Best was a decent player, as said had very good feet. His reading of the offside rule was almost as bad as Cisse's though.

The talking bit is basically him having to beg / grovel to Ashley putting a bid in.

They'll need a good start with such a new set of players. At least they're are getting them in early enough to get some training time together. If results go tits up I wouldn't be comfortable with someone as volatile as Di Canio to try and sort it out amongst a group who are practically strangers. Huddleston isn't all he's cracked up to be either imo. The only player i'm envious of them signing is that Italian one who's name I can't spell. Mannone in place of Mingolet is baffling to say the least and Altidore has lots to prove. You could argue all their new players are risks. These always have one eye on us no matter what they do, it's why they persistently fail. They are enjoying the fact we've signed nee one rather than them signing loads.

The Thiago link to Bayern has been mentioned before, but still a bit odd if it goes through.

If we get a rake of crocks like last term, we'll see how good the squad is. All depends on how full the treatment room is. Best we can hope for this window is one striker and maybe a wide player. Two extra players. Squad depth to me is about seeing what the alternatives are to the problem positions. Now take away the player's we haven't got yet out of that list and then take away our key players. It all of a sudden looks extremely weak imo. It's all ifs and buts granted. I'd love to put faith in our kids and but they need to start showing something soon if they're given the chance.
