For me it's a pointless signing simply because he thrives on service and our chance creation last season was abysmal. Aye, he'd have the same struggles as Cisse had this season.

I think i'd sooner keep Williamson than sign Thomkins like.

Aye thats why the press are running with it So you don't think Pardew wants Darren Bent? What does that matter? I dare say Pardew wanted Carroll & Falcao but as its not in his hands who cares what he wants? The club indicated to the local press that they wont pay his fee or wages so quite why the national press and gullible people think we will is beyond me really. This changed imo as soon as JFK came in. He will likely listen to Pardew's english targets over Carr's french names. If they are reviewing the strategy or blueprint then I wouldn't be surprised if they manage to sort a fee out and knock Bent's wages down a tad. Not gullible, just can see something in it since Kinnear came in. So you automatically assume the worst without any proof? I mean like the club actively going for Carr's targets as i type if you believe the media who would know more than me and you? Fair enough, gullible wasnt the right word then really I said it's likely, which imo it is. Nothing concrete, no assumptions and aye no proof. I only go off what I read. It's not exactly the most outrageous claim to say I think Darren Bent will end up at Newcastle. So you prefer trusting stories with zero quotes in them which go against everything the club does in the transfer market? Fair enough Ah man. No. I'm looking at the season just gone and think they will alter the strategy slightly if Pardew and Kinnear have their say. I shouldn't have to look for quotes to make an opinion if a player is coming. That's for one player, i'm not suggesting they are going to bin the blueprint altogether and ruin all previous work. I'm sick of arguing. I think Bent will be here, you don't.

I didn't say we were hoying out the transfer strategy btw, I said we may see some deviation from it for one player.

We've just brought Joe Kinnear in to personally run the rule over signings - I think it's entirely possible we will see some deviation from us signing young french players, wether that's right or wrong. We don't know what was said in that meeting a month or so ago. That's why I still think it's quite likely we'll see Bent here, if Pardew & Kinnear put their bonces together who knows who we'll bring in.

The Ashley to sell rumour refuses to f*** off as well. It means nothing here in the real world. Think Bent coming for 6mil is more likely than Ashely selling up for 267mil though. Being hit by lightning is more likely than winning the Euromillions, doesnt mean it will happen. Ok.

I'm against it in the main, the way we play would seriously need to alter if Bent comes in as he's limited in certain areas of the game. I'd probably take him if we got someone else in to support him but that's wishful thinking us getting 2 in. Pardew obviously wants him here, since we first got linked it's been a daily running story.
-
With Pardew as our manager he would get those assurances and be part of 'Plan A'. Cisse's future is still far from clear.

Atmosphere inside the Velodrome always looks pretty mental when I watch Marseille. Long time ago now but the noise their fans generated when we played then in the UEFA semi was very impressive. Seemed to send our lads hiding.

Still think Bent will come actually. Rumour refuses to fuck off.

If Anzhi are in then we can really be hopeful player desire helps us in our favour, and even then it might be difficult. As mentioned their money does make players think otherwise.
-
Interesting the lines on .com, lets hope someone decent comes in soon. Was very surprised when I saw this supposed figure we bid. Very high.

Indeed. Purely on numbers, the finances are vastly worse than they were before he arrived. The difference is that we owe (hugely more) money to him rather than the banks, so we aren't going to be called on it. What some people don't seem able to grasp is that the financial success of football clubs isn't about a lack of debt, it's all about profit and turnover. Man United and Chelsea's debt dwarfs everything else in the league but the banks don't care because they generate vast profits through on-pitch (and subsequently off-pitch) success. As long as they can keep on paying it comfortably, the more debt the better as far as the banks are concerned because it generates more interest for them. The clubs that get the plug pulled aren't the behemoths with mountains of debt, it's the ones with piddly little amounts owed to HMRC who can't pay because they bring absolutely f*** all in. Boggles the f***ing mind that some people think "financial success" as a football club is based on being on an even keel (even though we're not, but ignore that for a moment). Do these people live on the same planet as the rest of us? They want their football club to run like their own household finances. Our revenue is pretty shameful for a club our size.

Such a baseless rumour that Gignac article. Mention powerful striker who is french and apparently like Shearer then cover the rest of the article with news on a bid we haven't launched on someone else.

Have to agree.

Tevez is still class, it's his desire that holds him back. He doesn't give a shit.

Ian Holyman @ian_holyman 3m Belhanda reported to be in Abu Dhabi to negotiate a move to Al-Jazeera Club. What a waste if he moves there.

Still trying to convince myself this is all one really bad dream.

Inclined to agree with Saints fans if they're not happy. What's the point in getting rid of the stripes?

Another season of loans would be of benefit to both as at least they'll get games. Ferguson by all accounts was impressive at Birmingham. Agreed Ferguson needs to more advanced to get the best out of him, his delivery is very decent imo. Just think Sammy is canny clueless when he has the ball, attempting endless dribbles with no end product.
