  1. I'm foolishly optimistic about the close season tbh. The two touted ones will leave (for big money) and we'll sign five cracking players for just under a tenner. Must be the dizzying height of fifth place making my head light.
  2. Not sure what Kean has over those Venky's boys but it must be Epic. There's "No Way" he's leaving Blackburn apparently (according to himself). That's going to be a fun place to watch football next season.
  3. Well there you go, we'll just have to agree to disagree then We'll play in Europe next season and we'll go out of Europe next season at some point and that'll be that. Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted for all concerned, it'll be a blast but we ain't going to win it so really it's just a jolly, nothing more. Indeed you could argue it'll make progression domestically, that bit harder (injuries, tiredness etc with a small squad). Anyhoo, I just fancy seeing us win a Cup with my own eyes, can't and won't deny it. I would consider that success.
  4. do you get it now ? cups are nice, but they aren;t proof you are any good, good teams don't go down the pan like those you've listed. to me football is about seeing who's the best at it, cups don't come anywhere near proving this. what does winning a knock out cup prove ? They're proof positive you're the best team in that competition surely??? Good teams/squads come and go, but my point was that there are some pretty lowly clubs out there that have mustered a Cup win, done the Wembley thing, Open top bus tour around the town etc and for me, it's disappointing that we haven't managed it in my lifetime (I'm 37) Seriously, are you telling me you weren't watching the FA Cup final today thinking "I wish we were there" I know I was.
  5. Surely it can be retagged as St James' Park? Not sure how to do it, but it must be possible. Just did it. Said changes will be made after it's reviewed. Probably not going to happen. If you type in "Saint James' Park, Newcastle" it takes you right to the ground now. Not sure if that was you or not
  6. That's quality right there. The collective madness of a bad decision right in front of you (goes out of a corner, ref says goal kick. WFT ref The (rare) moment of a lobbed goal between it leaving the player foot and dropping into the net, that surreal "time stands still" period, Class Ironic "Yea" cheers of every pass when you know a game is won and you're mugging them off in injury time Seeing someone get crunched who's been "putting themselves about" earlier in the game. Nicely done
  7. Regardless of what happens in these last two games it's been a remarkable season. CL or EL football will be a great experience for all concerned, fans, club, players etc and certainly feels like progress in the right direction. However, for me, I just want to win something, . . . . . . anything. Quickest route to that is a Cup. This current squad is capable of Silverware, imho, and that's what I desire more than anything else. Swanning around Europe will be a absolute blast, no doubt about it, but we're not going to win anything there. Leicester have won the League Cup three times ffs. Luton Town, Oxford United & Swindon have all raised that trophy above their respective heads once since it's inception. Football is all about winning things. That's what marks you out from the herd, Silverware. Simple as.

    NUFC Kits

I'm pleasantly surprised by that kit actually. Burgundy according to the official site. Hopefully the home kit won't turn out to be a complete abortion. Not really a fan of Puma but the current kits have really grown on me over the season. Question? Would it be Puma that "create" the badge for the kits? Really don't like the current version with the white surround. Looks cheap. The badges on the Adidas kits were mint.

  10. It's just all so natural to him (or certainly looks that way to me), it's effortless. I don't honestly believe you can "train" that into someone, you've either got the natural ability or you don't. As has been said, his quickness to strike and calmness within those strikes is just mindboggling. Also, I'm extremely impressed by his movement and positional sense of himself on the pitch. To hit the "sweet spot" of the goal (the place the keeper can't reach) can only happen if you know exactly where you are in relation to the goal before you hit it. To do it time and time again is just crazy, crazy stuff. The more I think about it, the more it hurts my head. Half a season and he's already a Legend.

  12. Been reflecting on how well we've been playing recently and Sir Bobby has crossed my mind more than once. He really would have loved how this side are progressing. Can't wait to get over and see the statue for myself. Nice gesture and a fitting tribute to a great footballing man.
  13. :kasper:Kieron Dyer . . . . . WTF !!!!
  14. Are we likely to wear our new kit this season? (last home game?) Seriously hope it isn't the one in this thread. It's total tripe. :'(
  15. Terrific news about SBR's status. Funnily enough, was just thinking about him the other day, and how much he would have relished our current situation. Lest we forget.

    Mackems always make me laugh
  17. Have found myself looking at it, time and time again today. Even compared BBC with Sky just to make sure this wasn't some sort of giant piss take. Absolutely amazing. Come the lads, in the last four games, let's go for it 100% Happy days!!!
  18. Wigan have played very well in recent weeks but I think we're just to hot to handle at the minute. Fancy us to win this and really put the cat amongst the pigeons
  19. Certainly it's hard to see a better opportunity to really go for it. It's all about us at the minute, and all for positive reasons and that brings it own pressures and benefits. Good players will want to be linked with us, that the most obvious one for me. Bring it on!!!
  20. If we can keep our key players and strengthen the weaker positions then I think we've got legs. It really hinges on keeping the spine together. That's my main concern. Yes, we've done extremely good business lately but I'm not sure you can continue to chop and change every season and keep the whole thing rolling along. CL or EL football would (I imagine) keep everyone on board. It's going to be a very interesting summer.
  21. He's a handsome devil is our Yohan. WHAT a pass and finish for his second. Real quality
