  1. Next season, after the rebrand under new ownership.
  2. And so begins the countdown of Flip's "Reasons Brazil is the best and will win the World Cup" series. Part 1: best manager.

  4. Nary a "U.S. soccer ball-in-motion" patch in sight makes it a winner in my book.
  5. It'd take several years of them being out of the CL to have an effect on their ability to attract the best players IMO. Agree to an extent (in terms of top players from mid-tier clubs wanted by big clubs), but to leave a club like Juventus for Man United right now? Better league and the possibility of a bigger pay cheque? CL would be the only question mark. Juventus's style of play is pretty much a perfect fit though.
  6. Re-designed WC kits: http://imgur.com/a/K6rkx#0
  7. Tbf, if were actually playing well for them, I'd have been banned a long time ago in retribution.
  8. http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1739462/manchester-united-boss-david-moyes-paris-scout-antoine-griezmann-paul-pogba It'd be hilarious to watch them dish out the big money it'd take to get Pogba back. But at least they'd be willing to spend.
  9. Anyway, it's moot point. He wouldn't get near the same amount of abuse if he played for any other club and if he were any other nationality. He'd just be some other guy.
  10. If he were 29 years old, you'd have a point. However, he's just now 24 and only started to get regular playing time when he went to the Eredivisie two years ago. He left MLS way too soon and it stunted his development.
  11. This is it really. He's never going to be a striker who can make things happen on his own.
  12. Sorry like, I was reporting what I saw in the flesh last night. He runs around a lot, but has zero effectiveness as a forward. The way he was played last night he looked to me like a very modest battering ram who has no clue what to do once the ball has come to him. He does give a mean lay off, but offered nothing else. To be fair, the US were absolutely woeful going forward in general. As someone mentioned (Deuce?) that Johansson looked quite handy coming on, and I remember him getting hold of a first time volley that was blocked on the line? His movement alone when he came on caused Ukraine a lot more problems than Altidore did the entire match. Should Altidore continue to struggle, it might necessitate a tactical switch to 4-4-2, which the U.S. has had success with in the past couple years. Pairing Altidore with a player just off his shoulder like Dempsey, Donovan, or Johannsson would probably benefit him. But it would leave us thin through midfield against teams with very good midfields at the WC. In a perfect world, Altidore regains some of the confidence and form he had last year, when he was capable of playing as a lone striker (and could score). But I don't know if that's going to happen between now and June. Altidore is having a Papiss Cisse type decline in form; where absolutely nothing is coming off for him in front of goal. Look at the type of goals he scored when he was playing in the Dutch league, but more-so for USA when he was in his rich vein of form. He was scoring headers, poachers, screamers, volleys, and even free kicks. He's actually perfectly fine holding the ball up, laying balls off and being a link-up player at the moment but he's worthless in front of goal. IMO, Johansson needs to be starting as he seems the most unique, explosive and classy goal threat we have at the moment. I'd like to see a Donovan-Johannsson-Zusi front 3, with Dempsey given a free role behind the line. We sacrifice physicality and hold-up play for movement and fluidity, but Johannsson is more technically proficient and in far better form than Altidore. I just don't know if Klinsmann will drop Altidore any time soon. He seems to favor having a big target guy up top.

  15. I respect the teams who don't opt for European-inspired names. Chicago Fire S.C. is probably the best mix between traditional European football and American sports naming conventions. D.C. United (wasn't a union between two clubs) Real Salt Lake (not royally endowed) Sporting Kansas City FC Dallas/Seattle Sounders FC/Toronto FC/Vancouver Whitecaps FC (FC doesn't stand for Football Club) FC does in fact stand for Football Club. Not in those cases though. They're just letters, not initials. The full name isn't "Football Club Dallas", for instance. Edit: it appears Seattle does expand their name to include "Football Club" on occasion.

  19. Rooney is one of the best pure footballers in the league, hands down.
  20. I'd take Besler, Gonzalez, Goodson () with Cameron as the swing guy. People hating Jozy for playing for Sunderland should be happy he was so s*** playing for Sunderland against us or else they'd have put 2-3 more back against us and it would have been a 4-0 or 5-0 at SJP. When it comes to World Cup time, I'm supporting my country - and Jozy is an American who just 12 months ago was playing the best football of his life scoring for fun - I've said how much I'll dislike him in that s*** f***ing Sunderland kit, and how much I think that move to Sunderland has been bad for him (even before he went there) but when he's got the American shirt on, I'm defending him fully as he plays for my country. So nah, not going to take this har har look at Jozy bull shit when he hasn't scored dick and looks off his shit - I'd still take an off form Altidore over many useless players who've played for Newcastle this season who couldn't conjure up an assist or trap a ball or whatever.
  21. I'm not even watching this match but good god, have a word, son.
  22. I'd take Besler, Gonzalez, Goodson () with Cameron as the swing guy.
  23. Howard is the only defender we have on the pitch
