Is that pounds or euros? Rubles. 170K quid. Sounds right.

Didn't really seem like it yesterday tbh. Players aren't blameless, but they don't deserve as much stick as ownership/management. I'd be demoralized too if my team's best player was unceremoniously shipped out and ownership made zero attempt to replace him. Or zero attempt to encourage success.
-
It'd be one thing if the team was shit, but trying. Happens all the time in sports. I've never seen a professional sports club so opposed to success. If they don't even try, why the hell should I care?

Spot on. We will of course though see in this thread the vacuous argument that being a supporter means going to matches regardless of any circumstance and that it is even somehow admirable to actively enable those who take the p*ss out of you. Which is akin to some sort of retarded old military romanticism like charging at machine guns. Nice analogy.

At least Hitler enjoyed going on the attack.

Same. Seems he's really matured this season. Giving him the captain's armband might be one of the only good things Pardew has done. It's made him more accountable.
-
Also, the sarcastic shouts of "SHOOOOT!" aimed at Tiote every. single. time. he touches the ball are completely worthless. If you're among those match-goers responsible for perpetuating this stupid chanting, kindly shut the fuck up. Thank you.

As I said yesterday in the match thread, albeit a bit crudely, I have zero patience for hypocrisy among fans. I was under the impression that a sizable population of SJP faithful are supportive of the status quo to some degree or another (generally to the extent of supporting Pardew as manager). Which makes the shouts of "BOOOOO!" raining down on Pardew, the players, etc., impossible to stomach. You don't get to be critical while simultaneously lapping up the stale milk set out for you by ownership and management. Now, I've also been reliably informed that perhaps this particular group of people isn't as large as it seems. Which is good to hear. I'm not a season ticket holder, nor am I in a position to be one in the foreseeable future. Everyone has a different reason for attending matches and it doesn't make sense to lump together and demonize every person who goes to SJP. I can't say I'd give up my season tickets if I had them, so I personally can't expect others to do so themselves.

Smart kits. Can't wait to see what they look like when Adidas takes over next season. Could have some of the nicest kits in MLS.

Fully deserved today but still think they will be right in the mash at the end of season and next weeks game is vital if you look at the games after that Nah I think they'll be safe. This win will give them a massive boost and I'm pretty sure there are three worse teams than them. Your probably right but they are not going to get many points away from home (possibly Norwich away) and all it will take is one bad result like next week (Hull can be a funny team) and then three straight defeats off an City, Arsenal and Liverpool (there next 3 league games thereafter) to put them right back down the bottom and confidence shot. There not going to play teams managed by Pardew every week that's for sure. A lot of wishful thinking there. Well can you see them getting anything off City, Arsenal or Liverpool as I can't, so not really. On paper, no. But the PL very rarely operates based on what *should* happen. I hear what your saying but these clubs are gunning for the title and/or Champions League and will flip over a poor side like Sunderland as they will with us also when we go to Arsenal and Liverpool. Fair point.

They don't need to be the best team over the remainder of the season in order to stay up. They just need to be better than 3 other clubs. Which they certainly are at the moment. I think they could drop points to City, Chelsea, and Liverpool and still finish outside the drop zone, incredible as it seems. They are rather fortunate that there's a race to the bottom in the league this season. Everybody wants to play in the Championship next year by the looks of it.

Its why you can pick the top 6 every year before the season starts. Well, yeah, unfortunately. Bit different over the long-term though. On a game-by-game basis, no way. It's why the top 6 don't end up with perfect records!

Every single Newcastle player was a liability today. No one should escape criticism.

I genuinely can't stand him. Thick as fuck and his antics are utterly deplorable.
-
Play like we did today and we won't get any.

I'm waxing lyrical about Ellis Short, fuck's sake. You know shit's bad.
-
Ellis Short has ambition but always seemed a bit thick. Seems he's struck gold with Poyet. Would definitely have him over someone who's just using the club as an advert for his business. He's definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he's shown a willingness to make changes when things aren't going right. Poyet was a shrewd hire and whoever's in charge of transfers since Poyet arrived has done well imo.

We'll flirt with the relegation zone over the first few months, buy a few token players in January, and barely scrape by come May. All the while avoiding Europe and keeping the net spend in the red.
