  1. Cheers all. So follow up question: does anyone know whether I can buy a membership on my current supporter number (which already has a season ticket attached to it). Or do I have to create a separate account just to have a membership
  2. I've got a question, apologies if already covered. I'm a season ticket holder, but my dad is a member. Previously I would get him a ticket next to me (or as close as possible). Am I right in thinking there's no way I can do that now? And that we can't go to the match together anymore? Or, is it possible for me to buy a membership, and apply with him at least, and forward my ST to someone else if we are both successful? Which is a pain in the arse but I'd be willing to do
  3. Mates that were in tier 3 thought it was decent atmosphere. Lads who were in tier 1/2 said it was shocking Kind of matches up with what's being said on Bluemoon
  4. Tbf I think it depends where you are. I was at the back of Leazes level 4 last year, and spent all last season whingeing about how quiet it was, even for big games like the semi final it was like a morgue. Whereas today I've moved to the strawberry corner and it was bouncing, but my two mates in the Leazes said it was dead apart from the first 5 mins and last 5 mins.
  5. And for anyone worrying about miserable folk refusing to move out the corner and wanting to sit down, didn't happen. Maybe 7/8 people across the full front row of the corner sat down, that's it. Thoroughly enjoyed "we're Newcastle and wa gonna win the league". Been too long since we've heard that
  6. Cant comment on atmosphere as was in the corner which seemed excellent, but no idea what rest of ground was like. Was belter like, concourse was bouncing at half 4
  7. Nah, pretty much the entire of the gallowgate upper was empty. No more than 200 across the lot and that's being generous. Majority of Leazes level 4 corned empty too
  8. Fair enough mate. I was near the back of the Leazes level 4 for the semi and the ground was pretty silent for most of the first and the second half. We must beg to differ
  9. I was abroad for the quarters, but the semis were horrific in the Leazes end.
  10. I like to have a good whinge about atmosphere, as people probably know. But there was a better atmosphere today than all cup games at home last year, think the standing section made a big difference. Hoping it does the same in the league game
  11. I don't know any in group 1. I know 6 in group 2. But I know 4 different individuals that couldn't care less about football never mind Newcastle until the takeover, who have tickets for villa...

  13. I think it's massively unreasonable to not be able to choose a seat you want. Would be fairly straightforward to implement a ballot to get access (authorisation), but then join a queue once successful in that ballot to choose your seat. There will always be some people successful in the ballot who's payment fails, or who ask for a refund (the club often releases small numbers of returns close to the game). Anyone in your hypothetical scenario would just be added to that category. Or put on the seat exchange (which we haven't seen implemented yet). No extra legwork required. It's also a bit shit that as a season ticket holder, I can't attempt to even sit next to my dad who's a member. He could be whacked anywhere in the Leazes/gallowgate assuming he's successful.
  14. Oh completely agree, small ballot and checking ID seems sensible. Our away ends will suffer as a result like, there'll be less groups of daft lads who get their tickets on the bus. I just strongly object to trying to get everyone to 'have a fair turn' for away games. The chance was there for everyone under Ashley, with the exception of young fans coming through now, to build up points. They just didn't fancy it then, cos we got beat every week.
  15. If you look at getting as many fans as possible into away games then our away ends will be utterly horrific.
  16. I mean without limiting memberships (say you must purchase by the start of the season), you are virtually guaranteeing that fans of any big club like Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool etc will be entering the ballot and sitting in the home end. And if someone couldn't be arsed to purchase one in that time frame then i can't imagine they'd be too bothered about missing matches.
  17. That's completely different though mate. In fact our online seat selection tool already had that exact rule baked into it for the last few years. People literally can't choose what stand they are going in, or whether it's a 74 quid ticket versus a 44 quid one. Never mind the actual seat!
  18. Even if we accept that the price increases are needed (still not convinced). Doesn't explain why people can no longer choose the area of the ground they'd like to sit in, or the Seating Category (pricing) they can afford.
  19. This is absolute nonsense though. Compare the income that the club gets through TV revenue/sponsorships to that of regular (non corporate ticket sales). They utterly pale in significance. The club is choosing not to insulate supporters from rising costs when it could, in favour of squeezing out every last penny from fans in a deprived area. And for what it's worth, as a season ticket holder unaffected by the membership fiasco, I don't prioritise success on the field over looking after fans off the field. Why is assumed that every fan wants absolute, instant success on the field - regardless of the cost off it? It's certainly not true for any match going fan that I know.
  20. I reckon we will finish 8th/9th but have a stronger than expected run in Europe. Either CL quarter finals, or Europa League semis
  21. Site seems knackered today. Constantly telling me that I have a 'bad queue id'.
  22. Aye some of the pile-ons I've seen on Facebook etc. today towards people questioning the price rises has been pathetic.
  23. £55 for a champions league might ticket might look good value compared to other premier league clubs - but I think it's steep, and tbh quite unnecessary considering the proportion of income that is generated via tickets sales VS Television money. The club could absolutely choose to insulate supporters from those sort of rises when necessities are rising so steeply - but have chosen not to. I also think it takes us a step closer towards getting the sort of crowd that we laugh at Man City fans for having. Tourists galore with cameras etc. Maybe not the coming season, but once the novelty wears off...
