I've been impressed as hell with Beckham's performance in MLS. Technical deficiencies aside, it's not an easy league to play in. Very similar to the premier league in physicality and pace, add to that the fact that every single MLS player loves to take a hack at Beckham and he has held up remarkably well, especially playing as a center-mid. For a past-his-prime 38 year old English w*****, the guy is pretty damn good. Yeah I remember reading somewhere that he has been very impressive the last few years, especially since he moved to CM or something like that? Another reason i'd have liked to see him play in the Olympics to see him play for the first time in years.

Yeah I suppose i've just almost always picked a team that i'd support in a tournament that England or Newcastle aren't in, and almost always some kind of tenuous link like the one above. Assumed everyone did but guessing not!

That's what someone (Anita) that can cross from deep can bring to a side. Whip it in early before the defenders are set and let the forwards attack it. Highlights how much Simpson (Santon's not great at it either) is holding us back. It's actually painful to watch Simpson in the final third. One thing i've noticed is unless we are on the counter the defenders are always set, we seem very slow on the attack, although it could just be that teams are showing us more respect than i'm used to seeing.

Is there much money in the aussie game? Always interesting to see big names passed their prime go off on mega money moves. Becks to LA, Drogba to Beijing, Owen to Stoke.

Not read much of this thread so sorry if giggs. I think this transfer window has been more of a missed opportunity than a failure. Pretty pissed at the management, cba to expand and everyone knows what I mean anyway. I realise we have a business model but it has really been laughable.
