You can't imagine Bristol City being too good, but the following does sound encouraging (from .com): But the breakthrough finally came in the first minute of added time when Fernandez tricked his way into the box and pulled the ball back for Vuckic to thump home to make it three in three games since his return from being out on loan. It took just 43 seconds of the second half for United to double the lead when Fernandez wormed his way into the box and somehow managed to stab the ball home from a tight angle. And it was that lad Fernandez again on 53 minutes, setting up another for Vuckic with a cross from the left that gave the Slovenian his second with a simple finish from six yards.
  2. Thing is they've been pretty consistent since the start of December. We obviously beat them in crazy circumstances at the end of September and they won a couple after that, they did go on a 5 match losing streak in the league from the end of October to the end of November which also included a league cup exit as well but since then they have been pretty consistent - they are just very good at home but pretty poor away. We couldn't have played them in that Oct-Nov period as we just played them in September and you'll never play someone twice before December, and since then they haven't lost more than 2 on the trot. They've won 6 of 7 games at home since the end of Nov (the only defeat being Huddersfield), whereas away that win at Cardiff the other week was their first away since October 1st, and in their 10 away games since then they have won 1, drawn 3 and lost 6. Their home record is better than ours, we've played the same number of games, and they've won more, lost less, scored more, conceded less. Away to Norwich is always a tricky game and would have been whenever the game was scheduled. I'd definitely take a point and hopefully that is backed up by 2 following wins at home
  3. After going on a decent run, you'd expect a degree of confidence from fans and a messageboard, but a good % of those on the below forum think they have a great chance of automatic, and it would be us not Brighton who they are most confident of catching - that will be more down to them still having to play us and our other remaining fixtures: http://downatthemac.proboards.com/thread/103570/automatic It will be very interesting to see how they approach their game against City on Saturday. They are a step further and playing at home unlike Leeds, ourselves and Brighton in the last round o you'd think / hope they'd play a fairly strong team and attack the game, but then again, they probably do think they have bigger fish to fry this season. Mooy, one of their better players is ineligible as he is on loan from City. It's a shame this isn't televised as it is one of the better looking games to me. A full strength team and a televised replay would be decent.

I see the U18s lost 4-0 at Man Utd the other day with pretty much the same team used in the FA Youth Cup run. Obviously a decent crowd backing them at SJP may help to some extent vs Spurs in the quarter final but the result doesn't bode well.
  5. Full round of championship, league one and league two games on so think i'll put a bet on and watch SSN and hopefully they have the goals as they go in again rather than watching PSG vs Barcelona
  6. My mate had a bet on at the start of the season for all our matches to have at least 1 goal in it. He can't cash out, but reckons he will cover 0-0 for the last 3 games if it is still going at that point

I do this pretty much every season and have made big money in the past few seasons. I saw they were 9/2 at 365 before Palace but thought i'd wait until after that game, they obviously must have shortened significantly after that win but come back out a bit now. Think i'll wait until after their next 2 games as they are Eveton A and Man City H. If they get 2, 3, 4 or 6 from those then i'll probably have lost my chance, but if they get 0 and others (who play each other) put a few wins together then they might go out to 6s and then i'll lump on. I always want them to still go down, but if they do stay up then at least i've made about £100+ out of it.
  8. Yep, the seasons completely over if we came away with a draw

What do we reckon is the worst outcome for Sunderland in the Swansea-Leicester game? A draw will be best for them, but not sure which will be worse if either win.

  12. What would you guys think is the main NUFC forum, not necessarily the best, but the main one, the one where most opposition fans would browse? I see this board has currently got 30 members online and 70 guests, whereas RTG has currently got 420 members and over 1000 guests. Obviously that is their main one and pretty much the only one i'm aware of and we do seem to have 5 or 6 ones of similar membership numbers.
  13. Blyth now 2-0 up at Warrington with 5 to go. Potentially tough away game there that they look to have negotiated. On course to play Darlington next season.

Going further back i can remember going to the 2006 QF games against Brighton where we won on pens Krul, Cowan, Deverdics (Morris 82mins), Marr, Huntington, Cavener, LuaLua (Little 87mins), Doninger (Godsmark 100mins), Carroll, Troisi, Critchlow. Subs n/u: Reay, Forster. Krul, Forster and Carroll all went on to have very good careers. Huntington, Lua-Lua, Deverrdics all still playing league football. Troisi ended up at Atalanta and incredibly Juventus and is now playing for Melbourne V in the A League. Don't think any of the others made it

Was massively highly rated as well. His next (permanent) club will be crucial. Back to Rangers? Possibly, they do seem to have an ex Newcastle young contingent, not including the 5 that went on loan the other season. Trying to persuade a mate to go to that FA Youth Cup game and was saying how i've been to a few in the past. Interesting to see where players end up at. http://www.thejournal.co.uk/sport/football/match-reports/newcastle-united-u-18s-0-aston-4460514 I went to this one in 2010, a 5,000 crowd and the line up was: Alnwick, Tavernier, Dummett, McDermott, Henderson (Nzuzi 46), Folan (McCorrigan 90), Ameobi, Inman, Airey, Newton, Adjei. Alnwick and Tav both at Rangers. Inman and Peterborough, Newton at Cambridge United and obviously Sammy and Dummett still here. Certainly didn't think Dummett would be one of those starting for us 7 years down the line, he looked pretty limited then and struggled with controlling the ball, was thinking Tavernier, Sammy and McDermott may be most likely. Airey was also highly rated but he didn't amount to anything - think he was at Blyth then nothing since, maybe playing in the Northern League or something?

From .com: Newcastle U18s will face Spurs in the Quarter Finals of this season's FA Youth Cup competition at St. James' Park on Monday February 27th - and entry is free. Kick-off is at 7pm and a result must be achieved on the night, via extra time and penalties if required.
  18. Stourbridge currently 3-0 up at half time so they'll go into second and 7 behind Blyth having played the same amount of games. They look the only team consistent enough to realistically threaten Blyth. Grantham are in great form but have to much ground to make up IMO. February is a big month though Blyth away at Warrington tomorrow and then Stourbridge have a tough away game at Grantham on Saturday. Blyth go to Stourbridge on Saturday 18th and then go to Spennymoor on Tues 28th. If they come through those 2 fixtures and still have at least a 5 point lead then i'm sure they will win the league
  19. Brighton salvaged a draw there and fair play to them, i've lost count of the times they have come back from being behind to draw or usually win, whereas we have done it just once all season - that Norwich game. That said, after they beat Fulham and we lost to Blackburn on Jan 2nd, we were 2 behind them having played a game more so potentially 5 adrift. Since then we have got 10 points from 4 games, they have got 7 from 5 and are now 1 point behind. I'm still more concerned about Huddersfield, Reading and Leeds' results though.
  20. What are you blathering on about now? Nut said it was like Chelsea and Man City - I said it wasn't. As their squad is nowhere near as comparable. Nobody said it was a definite win. You do realise that Chelsea have a bigger gap to the likes of Spurs and Man City than we do to Huddersfield despite playing 5 games fewer? Before yesterday we'd lost exactly 25% of our leagues games - we're not some untouchable force. Provided we don't have a shocker with some of our other tough away games this month, i'd happily take a point at Hudersfield next month
  21. Wanted a draw, but Hudders win is better than Leeds, so not too bothered with that tbh
