1 point from the next 3, and if Burnley need something on the last day, especially if they are in the driving seat, probably 1 from 4. 4 if they are already down (which they probably won't be). It would be nice if we continued the momentum, and we can certainly give Arsenal and Liverpool a good game at home, but I'm not too fussed. Obviously 4 straight defeats wouldn't be ideal should that happen, but we've done amazing to get to 43 points. and the dizzy heights of 12th / 13th / 14th would still be fine for where we were just a few months ago.

I really like Leeds the city, and don't mind them as a club, and they definitely add something to the PL, so I want them to stay up, and I hope they beat Palace tomorrow, as while I'm not overly fussed where we finish given the main hard work has been accomplished, it would still be nice to finish as high as we can, but given our remaining fixtures, I think we will be relying on the likes of Palace, Brentford, Southampton etc. dropping points as much as us picking them up, so hopefully that's what happens, starting from tomorrow. Maybe it's the pessimist coming out of me, but I think I'd still rather be Everton than Burnley. I get Burnley have the extra points on the board, and that Everton are now the slight faves to go down at the bookies, like 5/6 (Everton) vs 6/4 (Burnley) vs 4/1 (Leeds), but I can see them picking up around 9 points from their final 6 matches, which would mean Burnley would need 7 or 8 (depending on GD) from their last 5. It will likely go down to the final or penultimate match of the season, and those 35/36 points we were seeing prior to the Wolves match look a fair bit lower than what will transpire. I'm just buzzing we're no longer a part of it.

The Gas lads will obviously know far more than me just looking at things completely from the outside, but they are around 4/1 for automatic promotion, so still looks a fairly long shot. I guess Rovers could batter Scunth0rpe, but realistically, Northampton just need 4 points from their 2 games (to pip Rovers), and while Exeter could still be going for the title, if they beat now safe Barrow at home on Tuesday they will have secured automatic promotion which will be their primary objective achieved. Plus Rochdale have only lost 4 of their 22 games at home, so that will likely be a tougher match than it looks on paper, and even Mansfield have it more in their own hands than Rovers, so 4/1 looks about right from the outside. Hopefully they will sneak a top 3 finish, but if not, then there will be 2, and hopefully 3, Rovers matches on the telly, and a good chance for some of us to watch him play a professional game for the first time, outside of the very odd cameo.

This was absolutely glorious.

It just shows how fortunes can change quickly at this stage. Loads were saying 'Burnley have only won 3 of their first 28 games, they're not suddenly going to win xxx...', and here they are with 3 wins and 10 points from their last 5 matches. Hopefully they can get a few more, and I'd like a Leeds win tomorrow as well.

Yeah, think it's just 13 conceded in 15 games, and 5 of them against Spurs.

I've posted this before, but this Twitter search is glorious: https://twitter.com/search?q="newcastle away"&src=typed_query&f=live Imagine even thinking of seeing those type of comments 6/7 months ago. Amazing. Both Arsenal and Liverpool fans sweating.

I was meant to say 'as many' , but the general point still stands

For all the struggles we have had this season, it's insane to think we've now got more points than Norwich and Watford combined.
-
Hopefully we get at least a point here, because while I'm sure we could pick up a point from the next 3 very tough games, we will be clear underdogs in them all, especially the title challengers, so it would be a bit of a downer to head into the Burnley match potentially on the back of 4 straight defeats. I'll go for 1-1.

It must be class to be Mark Gillespie. Fairly limited, relatively, but has had a decent enough career in Leagues Ones and Two, most of it at fairly nearby Carlisle, and a spell in the SPL, played almost 300 games, but then (re)joins his hometown club where he will surely be picking up north of 10k a week. No matchday pressure, and will first hand be experiencing the change of mood and atmosphere. He has one year left on his contract, and not sure if that will be extended, or if he'll look to head back down the lower leagues, but for now, as a fan, he'll be loving life.

If Burnley are 1 point clear of Everton on the final day, and it's only between those two, then I may well want Eddie to lose a Newcastle match for the first time ever, even if it might cost us a couple of places

"Newcastle away" is a decent Twitter search. You've got Arsenal and Liverpool fans concerned, and Spurs and Man City fans pointing to that fixture as banana skins for their respective rivals. I've been lurking on a few forums since full time and Eddie finally seems to be getting the credit he obviously deserves.

Everton injury time equaliser. Hopefully doens't follow here.

3 mins injury time. Hold on...

Leicester ahead! Barnes
-
Leicester team a lot stronger than it was against us, hopefully they'll perform.

Aye, think it's just the two games, Spurs and Cambridge, although could be wrong - I was thinking he'd have been thinking 'what have we gotten ourselves into' after that Cambridge match

Yep, Forest down in 1999, Sheff Wed a year later, and neither have been back since, and they must have had at least 10 years between them in the third tier since then, so a whole generation won't have seen them in the top flight. It looks like Watford will be going, which is kind of a London club, but not officially, but Fulham going up will mean SEVEN London clubs in the PL next season, that's got to be a record, 7 out of 20. At the moment, there are seven northern clubs, three Midlands, and ten southern clubs, and that will likely be similar next year, with possibly a midlands club replacing a northern one, although Luton could make it 11. I'd personally like to see more Midlands / northern clubs, who were in the top flight when I was growing up getting there, although saying that, I do very much want Everton down this season.

Got to be the 5-0, although I was at my Grandma's who didn't have Sky, so had to listen to it on the radio. I did get the Howay 5-0h video (and 7th Heaven vs Spurs that same season). Great times.

It's certainly got more interesting with the remaining fixtures. Rotherham will be delighted that Oxford have got a winner against MK Dons so that they stay 2nd, but at the same time, that Oxford win just about keeps them in playoff contention, and up next it's Rotherham vs Oxford which will now be tougher, especially when Rotherham have lost 4 of their last 5. They then play Sunderland before ending the regular season at Gillingham, who will almost certainly still be playing for survival by then. Their GD might help them and they only need 3 points from 3 games for Suderland not to be able to catch them, but that's far from certain. MK Dons, who after a 15 match unbeaten run, have now lost 2 in a row and have Morecambe and Plymouth as their final fixtures.

Rotherham were 9 points clear of third with a game in hand, and a huge GD advantage on Feb 26th: https://www.11v11.com/league-tables/league-one/26-february-2022/ But, assuming they lose today, they will have only picked up 2 wins and 8 points from their last 9 league games, and may now miss out on the top 2.
