I've been known to let slip the odd bit of colourful language in pubs while watching the football, but it's usually due to one of those socially awkward penguin-type situations in which everyone goes quiet just as you're about to swear. I wouldn't say I ever do it unnecessarily loud or anything. I remember calling the ref a cunt once during a match and this old woman started going off on one demanding I apologise, was absolutely kicking off because I stood firm and said the only thing I felt sorry for was uptight people who get so easily offended by a stock four letter word. I mean it's not like I was acting consistently belligerent or anything. I probably would have apologised if she'd politely asked me to keep the language to a minimum but her attitude was fucking stinking, hugely ironic really considering she was getting high and mighty over respect and good manners when I wouldn't talk to a dog in the tone she was talking to me. Tbh don't go to a crowded watering hole full of drunk blokes on a weekend when the football's on with emotions running high and not expect to hear a few bad words, it's not rocket science. Messi, the real Ronaldo and Zidane have to be the three best players I've ever seen in the game. Can't comment on the likes of Maradona, Garrincha, Pele and all them lot because I've never seen them play a full match, and I get a real kick out of laughing at people my age who claim that they actually know enough to talk about it. Messi really is phenomenal, C. Ronaldo doesn't even come close to him. All this stuff about how you can't be the best if you're a one-club man is garbage as is the myth that he doesn't perform at international level. What winds me up the most, however, is when people come out with fatuous, trite remarks like "oh he'll only be the best ever if he wins a World Cup", fuck off man he's one out of 11 players, hardly the lad's fault if his team mates aren't good enough. When I went to Serbia I was absolutely floored by the consistent quality of the fanny on offer. 90% of them were at least an 8/10 when I was walking round Belgrade, can't remember half the landmarks as a result, hell they were the fucking landmarks. Blokes were on the whole canny ugly as well like, so you had these absolute stunners walking round with average as hell guys, couldn't believe it. Aye fair comment. Wigan in particular we just seemed to forget that work ethic that we'd displayed most of the season, the forwards weren't doing the necessary running and even the likes of Tiote were just walking around the pitch, horrible to see when you've become used to such a hard-working team ethos.

Yeah I've heard the unsuitable for gigs thing bandied around but I don't know why either. I suppose this year's fair enough because we've got the Olympics but why not other times?

Four matches out of the full Premier League season - Norwich(a), Spuds(a), Wigan(a) and Fulham(a) - accounted for 18 out of 51 of our goals conceded. Take away those aberrations and we conceded 33 in 34, which is very good. Like some other posters have said when we have a bad day the roof really seems to cave in on us, hell against Fulham and Wigan all the opposition's goals came in one half. Mental. We'll be looking to address those problems this season no doubt, but on the whole the defence is very good. I'll have even more confidence when Taylor comes back and we get someone else in so we don't have to rely on Williamson who, despite being likeable, is ultimately a liability.

With the Ben Arfa deal, his ability far outweighed the supposed baggage he came with. Taarabt is the exact opposite, has some talent but is an absolute arsehole and totally not worth it IMO.

I agree with Ben Arfa that there were other players worse and it's hugely frustrating for him to have been on the pitch all that time and barely being passed to by Ribery, Benzema and Nasri, but he should have kept his mouth shut on the issue. The fact that Nasri supposedly also fell out with Diarra would suggest that he was the main aggressor. Fucking arsehole Nasri and he's demonstrated it on numerous occasions, cocky cunt. In fairness only Blanc and the French players really know what went on.

We switched him to the right for a couple of halves if I remember rightly and he cut inside all the time then too but onto his weaker foot instead. I think he's absolutely fine on the left, played there for Inter when he had Ronaldo in his pocket. Needed a bit of time to adjust to the league that's all, and has taken to it like a duck to water all things considered - 20 years old when signed, different league, surroundings, language etc. Pardew obviously believes that too since we're going for Debuchy.
