Agreed - SBR was just as interested in money as KK ever was, hence the reason he turned SJH down when he was asked to take over from KK after he resigned in 97....SBR knew Barca were going to fire him and appoint LVG, but he wanted the pay-off. It was the second time he turned NUFC down as he was asked to be manager after Joe Harvey in 1975 when he was at Ipswich but refused again. He may have had good reasons but the fact that he turned us down twice takes away any claim he may have had to be on a par with KK ; SBR was a self-confessed fan from boyhood too but he was past his best as a manager by the time he joined us although he did a great job in stabilizing the ship after Gullit. He was almost as old as Harry Redknapp is now and nobody on here would dream of having Redknapp as manager. Was also waiting for an upstairs job at Barca too.

Fair play to the landlord (Hunter) for at least trying to prevent the recalcitrant debt dodger from fleeing the scene, like a thief in the night. So from reading all that, he's cut his empire's overheads by running a minor profit turning company into the ground, deliberately by pulling funding - including not paying warehouse rent? Ya, a business restructure alright. I hope the employees receive some of their entitlements. There are some stories out there about Ashley (back in his humble beginnings) ripping off suppliers, by resorting to strong arm tactics (preventing delivery trucks from leaving his shop premises) in order to alter previously agreed to terms. This guy does have thick skin, and seemingly no conscience either. Isn't he still the only sporting clothes mogul who refuses to sign to the anti-child/sweat shop labour treaty?

I think most of us are well prepared for that, Brummie - you would have to be an excessive optimist, even by NUFC standards, to expect anything else from the people running Newcastle United, especially at this stage of Ashley's ownership. He has said himself that he may sell in 2016 so he isn't going to break the piggy bank to get a decent manager now. I have followed the club for 50 years and I cannot recall so much mutual detestation between any of the previous regimes and the fans as there is currently. Ashley clearly treats the fans with contempt, views them that way and his feelings are returned with much higher interest than you can get even at a Bank in a Third World hell-hole. This is NOT a recipe for even a modicum of success and more likely to result in relegation. "Ashley clearly treats the fans with contempt" I've sometimes thought about if he sells up, and a hypothetical scenario of having two consortiums submitting offers that peek his interest. 1. A consortium whose interests lie in the business of football, and results - and harnessing the club's potential. 2. A hedge fund type (or investor) who may look at the club's profit margins, and view Ashley's way of running a club as a blue-print for success - sit on the television rights money, reap the returns, do enough to ensure top flight survival and give nothing back in return (hope) His grudge against Whelan was taken far. This spiteful individual would take a small loss on the chin to deliver option 2 to a supporter base he hates.

So Pardoo is looking for an RW/auxiliary Fb, who occasionally & ridiculously moonlights as a targetman upfront and is expected to deliver twenty plus strikes (moments of magic) from bugger all service?

Rémi Garde and the case of the missing art galleries

Man, I love Wenger. Wouldn't surprise me if it's true. Wenger did urge Robert to sign for us, when Barca were also courting him. I have a shitload of time for Wenger. -
Minor windfall for Ashley, should clubs come knocking on the door for his services - in the event of Ashley selling up. If Carr goes, with Ashley clawing back some money, it could be an indicator that Ashley is on the verge of fucking off, because Carr is a pivotal & influential figure in the current continental management set-up.
-
Sell 10-15m this window and load it up with extra instalments (raising it 25m), especially if Arsenal or Manyoo qualify for the CL. There's definite prospect of international caps as well, so throw that add-on into the mix as well because he'll fire under the coaching of somebody like Wenger. Arsenal will make a profit when the kid moves to a Real or Barca He won't be here long, we're a mid-table feeder club at best under the current regime. May as well get it over & done with right now (if he can put in some storming performances over the course of the window) , and coax a club into gambling on his ceiling of potential & fulfilling it.

Jack Flash, as an excavator of dirt, owes it to the footballing world to join the Crystal Palace forum and spread the good word (and any other future club forum, depending on where Pardoo lands next)
-
Now that he is gone I guess from a purely football & coaching standpoint the 13 step recovery programme begins, for those with technical ability. Actually enjoying a training session, by not having stats rammed down one's throat, is a first step in the right direction. I genuinely believe he coached the fun out of the game, starting on the training paddock. Palace fans should organise a sweepstake, as to which youngster he destroys/Pardews first.
-
Condolences should also be extended to the coaches of Palace's youth academy. It's a productive academy, and it will be heartbreaking for them to view Pardoo ruin their better prospects.
-
Normally he sort of sits alongside whoever and has a bit of license to get forward now and then. f*** knows what he was trying to do today. Did a passable job when put at LB. He's our Mr Versatile...... err Mullins. Pardoo is great at spotting these adaptable & multi-functional cloggers. Presuming he wasn't Carr's signing, and one of the first names included on the team sheet.
-
Moments of instinctive 'magic' have produced enough three point results for Mr Pardoo in spite of his nothing game plan, and tactically clever (well he thinks they are) formation switches. Kids' awareness & decision making are developing, and he slaughters them for notepad worthy indiscretions - publically. Football philosophy (sit back, defend for your lives, but don't gamble on the counter) aside it's another reason why this man should never be in charge of kids who will take a risk, like Aarons
-
Our corner delivery & set-up is counterattacking opportunity for the opposition. An incisive outlet ball, and out lack of pace is badly exposed. Nice to see us concede a late winner. Enough late scores have given Pardoo enough reason to celebrate like an idiot, for selfish reasons. Good to see his arse on the receiving end.

Yeah let's offer a kid, who is nothing but regularly unfit potential right now, £20K a week. He's probably on maybe a grand a week or so, he's got 18 months (plus a years option) to run, a) I don't blame him for knocking it back, b) I don't blame the club for the offer, which is likely a substantial rise for him, surprised they even made any offer given his remaining deal length anyway. Non story If that offer is 6k p/w, without graduated rises bases on appearances & caps, then it is embarrassing. And those incentives have to achievable for the lad, in the short term. Then it's clearly been drawn up to keep the expenditure to the bare minimum for as long as possible until that big money transfer offer rolls in, if he's able to beat the odds and progress under Pardew. The club would also bank on somebody gambling on his potential, afterall the market is a speculative one. Skarare's sentiment is entirely understandable
-
I Yes Perversely funny it is. With some quality coaching, I hope it bites us on the pitch as well. Well & truly on the arse - he returns here and shreds the seven shades of s*** out of a Pardoo managed fotball team.
-
aye he's done, abeid has just seen the end of him imo Done & Dusted. Mentally too, you would think. It would be merciful to move him along in January.

^^^^^ Pardew once spoke that football is all about straight lines.

The Guru of Anti-Football preaching & sharing his clogger philosophy. Like how he lays a f***ing turd on a club that has proud tradition of producing technical & smart footballers (anti-Pardoo players) whose coaches instruct players where to move, what channels to run, to knock weighted passes into space because a player anticipates there will be movement. What a stupid f***ing arsehole. Of course the lad felt he had control of the game, and alot of more time on the ball (over 90 mins) at Ajax. They value f***ing possession football, and that doesn't mean a short bursts of deck passing in the back 1/3 followed by a backpass to the keeper. What an ignorant piece of s*** he is. As for Anita. No ill feeling for the lad if he has lost his mojo now. A two year dose of Pardoo Football Culture Shock must be disheartening for a footballer with technical ability and a brain.
-
Re: Mapou singing Garcia's praise, and taking a pop-shot at Pardoo's football philosophy. I remember seeing clips of Mapou in France. Looked comfortable taking the ball out from the back - quick bursts through the middle. Had the pace beat a forward team press, providing there was passing & movement to drag the forwards around. This aspect of his game reminded of Gallas. I'm sure Pardoo would have destroyed a 'young' Gallas too, if fate had somehow deposited Gallas to the doorstep of Pardoo's brand of career guidance.
-
Play him at LB. Pardoo's new Mullins. Gotta use him, even if it means shoe-horning him somewhere ridiculous.
-
according to Steve Taylor the preaching of statistics to players is a prominent component of Pardoo's weekly preparation, so some time spent away from Pardoo's football & training ethos is a good thing for the kid. Mike Williamson may disagree but it's got to be a toxic teaching/learning environment for any player with actual football ability. Pardoo strips for fun & excitement out of the game for a 'green' and raw kid with stars in their eyes, with enthusiasm to match. Even worse when they have alot of ability. If Pardoo is going nowhere I'd prefer to see the lad sold, and placed under the wing of a manager who respects youth development. I hope his parents have a similar agenda. Don't want to see this kid become the next Bigi - started with a burst, but ultimately not trusted. Let's face it he's not going to learn the finer points of running the channels on the break, working the one-two around the box etc, and other fundamentals which would take the kid's game to the next level.

Couldn't agree more. Good post.

I looked at the starting line-up yesterday, and based on ability alone most people would think Anita must be nursing an injury - the rational applied to Colback's selection. And then I remembered who the manager was, and Anita isn't exactly a shit-kicker - too small in Pardew's book, doesn't boot it long enough, moves forward/looks for space after releasing (a crime in this manager's book, shit scared of players not holding a defensive position). Who would of thought that a player could be punished for showing smarts off the ball, when the team s in possession - he hasn't been successfully Pardewed, and he is paying for it. Another kick to the guts of Anita. He really should have put in a transfer request during the Summer. Enough occasions this manager has demonstrated that he doesn't trust him.

Logs-in>>>>> Pardoo is still hanging on>>>>> Yawns>>>>> Logs-off

Rehabilitation, on the training deck, begins if Pardoo is shown the door. Same applies to many of the Carr Signings. The manager had a fair portion of the Summer to Pardew him, unfortunately.
