  1. Ya just looked up some quotes of his, he is a genius really in terms of football. Beckenbauer is mental though
  2. Isn't it the same thing with Aldi and Lidl too or was that a myth?
  3. Is Beckenbauer and Cruyff informed enough to make that decision? Because none of them think of Messi ahead of Maradona or Pele. They are both pretty mental to be fair
  4. I never saw Pele live but ive seen enough of him on film and listened to countless men whose knowledge I respect to make a decent enough judgment. The first time I saw Maradona he was 18 and tearing apart a fair Scottish side at Hampden. I've seen him many times and indeed saw him play at Wembley in 87. Fair enough on Maradona so, if you saw both him and Messi play and think Maradona was better then fair enough. On Pele, what was his club career like? I know he scored loads of goals but were Santos winning a lot at the time or what was their situation? Santos under Pele was the best club in the world in the early 60's.

  6. How many people here have seen Pele play a full game and how many games of his did they see? Even with Maradona you would have to be 35 or 40 to have watched him play live at his peak. Maybe I'm wrong but I doubt many people I'm this forum have seen Pele play and I'd say about maybe 50:50 have seen Maradona play at his peak yet almost everyone here is saying that Messi isn't near as good as them. All anybody can say is that a certain player is the best they've seen and for me Messi is the best I've seen
  7. I still think Robben should have won it. Just on Germany for a second, a lot of their players didn't play that well in the final. Kroos, Muller, Hummels were all average enough. Boateng and Schweinsteiger were their best players yesterday IMO
  8. I don't disagree with you really, but that's just the way he plays now. He waits for the ball to come to him and then tries to use his pace and skill to beat defenders, like the way he burned Hummels with pace on a few occasions in the first half
  9. Haven't seen it for the final but in all the other games Messi was way down on the rest of the team so I would presume it was similar again
  10. Phill Neville won more than Shearer... who was the best player? Shit argument I know, but for me its about indivdiualsim at the end of the day when debating these things as that's what we are building here, the individual. Not a team, not a match, not a season, but a player. Messi is undoubtedly fucking great, the best player of his generation and one of the best of all-time, but as individuals go, for me Zidane was better. I can't explain how or why, he just was. Its the way he played the game, got himself involved, how he applied himself during games, be them meaningless games or WC Finals. Its about aesthetics and style too, well for me anyway. Not that I know owt Well maybe now Messi isn't involved as much but if you judge him from his peak of 08-12 he used to be involved a lot more in the build up and run around a lot more. Since he started regularly getting sick on the pitch he hasn't been able to run around as much IMO
  11. Good signing. Khedira, Ospina and Sanchez. Just got to hope for Özil to coming back to his best. Ozil was fine last season till Ramsey and Walcott got injured, there was nothing wrong with him he just found himself in a team that wasn't making runs. A playmaker who looks for the killer ball with players who don't move off the ball properly is pointless. hope Khedira has the freedom to get forward like he did against Brazil last week
  12. He wasn't particularly awful or anything like,I just thought he lost possession in very bad areas at times. And your opinions are just as mental as mine a lot of the time. For example, you think Ribery is a better player than Robben
  13. Never thought I'd see you stand up for me thanks Ron
  14. Had a great semi final but I thought he was poor yesterday, he lost the ball several times in dangerous areas I'm glad it's you who is posting that, because while I don't think he's an excellent player he was very very good in this World Cup. He was the soul of the team and yesterday he had a very good game, glad all the Argentinians who were interviewed on telly agreed. What us that first sentence supposed to mean? As I said he was great in the semi final but I don't think he had a great final, hr lost the ball several times in dangerous areas. I actually do think he is an excellent player and one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. Just as a matter of interest, what did the Argentines interviewed think of Messi's performance? That I'm not surprised you thought he was poor yesterday. You seem to think differently to everyone most of the time. They thought Messi didn't deserve the golden ball and thought he was rather disappointing in the final. They didn't want to blame him but they said that if anyone from their team deserves the golden ball than it had to be Masch. I don't think anything I say on here is that outlandish to be honest. Just because I give an opinion that isn't the same as everybody elses doesn't mean its wrong

  16. He always walks around like that,I said it a few weeks ago here and everybody had a go at me you heard it on a podcast and said his movement was poor or something. I think it was me and KI who corrected you on the fact his movement is only shit defensively when the opposition have the ball before you changed your wording. Not that I'm bothered like but there's no need to rewrite history. I changed my wording because I realised I had worded it wrongly the first time. I'm fairly sure some people still disagreed with me after I made the clarification

  19. It wasn't a fucking no show like, any other player plays like he did yesterday and they will get praise
  20. Why should it have been England? Its less than 20 years since England last hosted a major tournament
  21. I would have thought people would have rated Higuain above Garay before the tournament started, no? Higuain had the likes of Arsenal and Napoli battling for him last summer while Garay has gone to Russia this summer
  22. The post I was quoting said they have some very good players on paper. I said that their best players on paper apart from Messi, Mascherano and Zabaleta were poor such as Aguero, Higuain and Di Maria. I agree that the likes of Garay, Rojo, Demichelis, Biglia etc. played well
  23. It's their players that would have been looked on as being brilliant before the tournament I was talking about so that doesn't include Rojo, Garay, Demichelis etc. who did play well. I didn't think Di Maria was very good at all
  24. The dynamic of the PL is as different from typical WC football as it gets. I couldn't care less, frankly. There just isn't that many absolutely outstanding players in the premier league IMO, even more so now with Suarez gone
