So basically, he’s worst than Targett both defensively and technically? Interesting trade offs.
-
Is he better than Targett?
-
Sadly we will be lucky to get one of those names.

Penny for Reiss Nelson, Balogun or ESR thoughts.

James Maddison (now playing for Tottenham Hotspur)

It does in the circumstances you’ve described yes, but if the player wants to stay and the club doesn’t want to sell then the only mechanism would be to trigger the release clause and offer terms the player can’t turn down. -
It does feel that way doesn’t it? I think it’s partly due to our journalists hanging on about FFP none stop.

I think Guler is an interesting one and I see it going one of two ways. either he goes to a stepping stone club like a Dortmund or Ajax and tries to enhance his reputation/value that way. or he jumps straight to an elite club and ends up being sold off in a couple of years time.

Aye, didn’t make a splash at a World Cup so definitely doesn’t have the same reputation. player prices are so high currently, it feels as if some form of external circumstances are required in order to get what we deem to be a fair price. -

I’m not so sure, the reports are they will be getting 100m for Gvardiol so zero pressure to sell and a club which is used to get top dollar for players. -

Rbl aren’t easy to deal with, rarely get a bad deal. Also, they are under no pressure to sell. -
No, the contract length can be whatever but it’s only calculated at a max of 5 years for FFP reasons.

No interest in any player that doesn’t want to be here mind. -
They are meant to be getting 35m for Koulibaly

I think the problem with say a 4231 for us it means you are somewhat locked in to playing Bruno and longstaff as the two. Basically only Bruno is suited to being a pivot. -

That was my first thought and I think it’s due to Maddison being a very good player who would undoubtedly improve us. He just doesn’t quite fit unless we were willing to let say Joe Willock go. -

He’s be cutting inside onto his weaker foot if he played from the right. Also defensively with Bruno as the 6 being flanked by Maddison and Trippier it’s a bit suspect defensively. we suffered without Longy towards the end of the season. -

George makes good points here, in a 433 he only somewhat makes sense as a LW. problem is, that’s the position which is portably our lowest priority given the investment in Gordon and having ASM, Joelinton and Isak. -
It’s actually mental how little you get for 100m these days
-
Kwp would be great. I think we will be left weak on the right flank with this approach though. I think we might be left in a position whereby we have to sell ASM to get a new RW in.
-
Clearly won’t be getting Barella
-
Yeah just read the piece, more of the same. we like all the players listed but it’s difficult.
-
Given Man united are being quoted 100m for strikers what we paid for Isak is an absolute snip.
-
According to Ornstein Chelsea are also in for all of the midfielders we’ve been linked with Hope we don’t end up missing out on all the actual good ones and left with Mctominay
-
Kim, but he’s off to Bayern by the looks of it.
