He's very limited and players like him aren't a necessity in the game like they once were. That being said he's come on leaps and bounds from last season and I think that's down to him keeping it simple whilst in possession ans cutting out them holywood passes.

Everton have shown that it is possible to be both solid and play exciting attacking football this season, and without major investment. Pardew as a rule has two ways of setting us up: a) against a bottom half team - try to score early then defend for your life a) against a top half team - defend for your life then try to score late It's working well for us this season, as it did when we finished 5th. It's also incredibly predictable, pretty dull and goes completely out the window when the other team score first (unless they have two men sent off). Can't quibble with recent results but it's certainly not how I think we should be playing. There's no long term place for any sort of flair in the team and that's not how NUFC should be imo. Absolutely. Spot. On. Couldn't agree more.

Chelsea playing with lots of flair, brilliant to see
-
Exactly he who dares wins and all that. After all we were playing at home. I think Liverpool's selection away at Chelsea now emphasis this

Bit unfair. Pardew's approach to this game was essentially the same one he used against Chelsea - keep it tight and compact for the first half then go for the kill around the 60 minute mark. It was only really undone today by the one defensive lapse. No-one was complaining about the attacking intent on display at Chelsea; I think it's unfair to do the same for today's game. It's also a tactic I feel is fundamentally flawed. Why? Because when the other team score we revert to lumping it up to Shola? Spot on and why we nearly never come from behind, once or twice in 50 odds games tells the story like. We also hand the initiative to our opponents in the process. Especially this sort of tactic tells our own players we aren't good enough to compete with the other side.

I think he was trying his regular keep it goalless and bring attacking players on thing but unfortunately they scored at the exact qrong moment for that. I think so too mate but I hate that flawed tactic it doesn't work and is the definition of stupidity as we saw today. We go behind and revert to lumping it long.
-
I agree mate but when he did have the ball he has no one in front of him because we are everyman behind the ball.
-
The point I'm trying to make us we didn't create anything nor did we go out there playing to win. Pardew's tactics show that he would have taken a draw and for me I want to see us go out to win every home game.
-
Not good enough, Didn't create anything and reverted to lumping it long when we went a goal down.
-
Drop one of our best players and wonder why he plays with a chip on his shoulder.
-
We haven't had Arsenal on the back foot once. If you don't create chance you don't score and we haven't created fuck all.
-
We've only cheated ourselves by not going for it from the start and showing them too much respect
-
I hope next time we try to win from the first kick off and not wait for 60 mins before deciding to attack
-
Would love to see Hatem come on the right hand side. Arsenals left side is suspect for me
-
Aye "Cabaye came close to joining Arsenal" I don't count 10 million as close.
-
Because Ben Arfa > Sissoko
-
Pardew is a fucking coward.
-
I'm sorry but it makes no sense to leave our most dangerous player on the bench whichever way people would like to spin it. Ben Arfa should start and sissoko should be dropped.

We should look to shed people like Obertan, Marv and Jonas as said. Would like to see us bring a couple british players in just for balance really. I don't like the 10 non-british players in a team stuff. Yeah, as Disco said though, who's going to take them off our hands on their wages? They'll end up being loaned out until their contracts are up similar to Xisco, or we'll end up paying some of their wages if they leave anyway. I guess Obertan still has "Man Utd/Fergie so much be alreet" to the untrained eye and Marveux is very much a YouTube player. Jonas...naaaaah. I don't think Marv is tbh. Our whole side struggled last year and many players who were bad mouthed have shown good form this season Marv just hasn't had the chance to do so. I mean he provides the odd highlight which looks good but for the most part lets the game pass him by. I see your point mate but personally until I see more of him in a side which is functioning I'll reserve judgement.
