  1. Read...rarely post....but that is very good news, man. Watch yourself in Rehills, though....incredible selection of (pricey) beers but narrow as fuck....went in a few weeks ago where everyone queued patiently at the correct distance but, as I was looking at the cans fridge, some fella came and squatted down on his honkers right next to me and began to browse Haven't been back since.
  2. ♬ We didn't start the fire .... That's very good Although now I've got that bastard song in me head all night!

I'm either reading it wrong or he is in no way pretending? It's a Newcastle United "fan" painting the takeover in the gloomiest light possible and lauding Ashley as a good owner. Even says NUFC were a "proper club" under Ashley. It's either a Mackem pretending to be NUFC fan. Or a NUFC fan, pretending to be a Mackem, pretending to be NUFC fan. That's what it's like on there. This lad posted on our forum (Footymad-yep, we're still going ) under various guises for years and this was always his line about Ashley. He's from Hartlepool but I think he actually is a Toon fan. He's banned now and hasn't come back with a new name (yet) so we don't have to read that sort of frontier gibberish.
  4. Nope. Funnily enough, I was talking to a bloke who works at our place who said 'if we get a few wins in a row ( as if! ) would I be back. He's missed the point, tbh. Most of us have seen enough shite and still gone back for this to be nothing about the quality of the football or about the quality of the players. Let's be honest, if cancelling was about that we'd be, well, sunderland, wouldn't we.
  5. I just said I'd had a season ticket for years but wouldn't be back until fatso (didn't use that word had gone.
  6. I was leaving it as late as possible in case the takeover actually happened but I think it was actually the Allardyce thing that finally pushed me over the edge I'd been teetering on for a long time. As it became clear that they were pursuing a 3rd rate, second division, first-class chump, meaning there was no takeover, the decision became a firm one.
  7. I cancelled mine last night and emailed the club to say why (well...filled in the contact form where they say they'll get back to you...zzzz)' Had our tickets since the Ardilles/Keegan season (just after we'd all left Uni and got jobs) but had been going since being kids....been with the same lads ever since so end of an era. Currently I just feel f***ing gutted, tbh.
  8. It isn't the last year though, everyone got a 3 year extension on the original 10 years. What, what, what??? How the f*** did I miss that??
  9. Right then. Bit of advice needed, folks. We're not sure on Footymad so I've popped over here to see if you can help. I'm entering the last year of the 10 year deal and want to cancel (I know, I know...been part of the problem, club you deserve, etc...but I'm on board now). So...where do I stand as far as cancelling my direct debit goes? I'm not going again until that fat slug f***s off and Ii know that i'll have to write off anything I've already paid but I'd like to contact the club with at least a bit of credible info in case they pull the legal angle. If I cancel my direct debit, are they entitled to take the rest of the money 'owed'?
  10. Sorry, man...took it from the Swiss Ramble and, frankly, it makes my head hurt. This is the link, though:
  11. Greetings from footymad Only up to the season before last but commercial income will probably show a growth of about 3p in fatso's time here.
  12. Unfortunately, this. We didn't deserve to go in losing at the break...but neither did we deserve to equalise in the second half. At half time it was like that scene in Airplane where everyone yer man talks to is topping themselves. I was quite optimistic that we'd get something from the game based on what I'd seen in the first half. Silly me...
  13. First tackle wasn’t a yellow (if it was then the majority of the Everton team should have been sent off for their challenges). I don’t think his 2nd foul was much of a foul or even a yellow card. The thing is though we can’t be having a go at players trying their best to win the ball back deep into stoppage time when we are losing. From where we are (Strawberry Corner) it looked like he had got the ball for the first but, whether he had or not, the fact that he was on a yellow made the second challenge moronic. A cynic might suggest he didn't much fancy the next two games...
  14. Yup They always become 'hit n run' posts too, so the ITK poster will disappear for a number of hours/days and it'll become forgotten about 'Not a bullshitter' always features somewhere. Ah right, that's okay then. That's a fair point. Having read his posts for years, it's how I see him but I get your point. Here's his original post (just to show I'm not trying to be ITK...just wanting it to be true, really. ) http://boards.footymad.net/showthread.php?t=38208476
  15. I think that should be my line. Mind, the bugger's logged off so there's nowt else to go on!
  16. Not sure what to make of this so came over to see if any of the good folk on here had heard of anything. Lad on our site (Footymad) who isn't a bullsh*tter has just posted that Ashley's sold the club; expect an announcement soon. Is the fat lady clearing her throat??
  17. Not least because it calls it a 'mini crisis'
  18. Agree with this. We're in trouble and am concerned, but we had a good run earlier so still hope. Lascelles needs to return ASAP and then hopefully he can help firm up the defence. Merino needs to find form again and with Gayle and Murphy showing improvement then might have enough....obviously a couple of incomings wouldn't hurt! I'd go further than that and say a couple of signings are imperative...without them we'll go down, imo. The team that went down last time had far more quality, albeit this team doesn't share their sh*tty attitude and we have a much better manager too (that was McClaren's relegation, not Rafa's). Much as you could make a case for strengthening every area on the pitch, if we're looking at a couple of signings only, I think someone to stop almost every single team taking the piss out of our midfield and a goalscorer would be the priority?
  19. You in the Strawberry Corner, mate? Can remove 'em if you prefer?
  20. Sorry they're huge-don't know how to resize them on here. Just took them off my post on Footymad. Huge congratulations and massive thanks to the folks who organise this-I'm proud enough to support our club but things like this just take it to another level. Brilliant job...hats off. Well, not yesterday, obviously-it was far too cold! http://i66.tinypic.com/4lsp6c.jpg http://i67.tinypic.com/27xggo3.jpg http://i64.tinypic.com/2iv1n5c.jpg http://i64.tinypic.com/2qs77gg.jpg http://i65.tinypic.com/28khwe0.jpg http://i66.tinypic.com/2easahf.jpg http://i68.tinypic.com/2gsn1qf.jpg
  21. Anita is a better midfielder than he is a rightback...and he's a better rightback than Colback is a midfielder so aye, I'd go for that. It's a bit 'would you prefer one kick in the bollocks or two?' but it is what it is.
  22. Shelvey was worse than Colback because Colback is largely only capable of shite whereas Shelvey is capable of so much more but fell so far short.
  23. Happy enough to come over to the Strawberry Corner when we've won or had a good comeback...sloped straight off the pitch today along with the rest of the useless bastads. Apart from Lascelles who came just over the halfway line and applauded.
  24. I doubt Rafa told the players to stand off and not to bother even putting in the slightest effort, I doubt Rafa told the players that they shouldn't bother to pass to our own players and I doubt he told them to constantly hit the ball long for Gayle. I hope he was smashing their heads off the changing room walls, they deserved it. Well, no, I'm sure he didn't although we persisted with the long ball stuff so much it looked like a tactic to me, tbh. But-we've played like this an awful lot at home this year and I think part of the reason is that we 'let' the opposition have the ball too much.
  25. To be honest, this result has been on the cards for quite a while now. We hand the initiative to the opposition by the negative way we're set up and you just knew a decent footballing team would come along sooner or later and hand us a lesson. Maybe Rafa hasn't got the players to play the way Fulham played (although I don't see why not-simple, quick passing and movement shouldn't be beyond us) but our tactic of hoying it long, straight down the throats of central defenders who only have the diminutive Gayle to worry about was never going to work today (and all the other times we've done it) yet Rafa persisted with it. Standing off them didn't help and neither did the fact that every player played like a drain today to a greater or lesser extent. Someone made the point earlier about us as a crowd only responding to attacking football-maybe there's an element of truth in that when you look at the second half but it's hard to lift yourself when the stuff in front of you is so poor, so negative and also looks like it's not about to change. Ah, bollocks. Sorry to be so negative-knew I shouldn't have posted so soon after getting in. (this little raincloud of doom was brought to you courtesy of no-one being on Footymad at the mo. I shall slope off back there now )
