I understand that managers value tactics differently and sometimes too much focus is put on it, but I’m actually so frustrated at what he’s saying, or not saying, that I feel an urge to e-mail him. Just to ask him if he does analyse games and situations at all. I don’t think I’ve ever heard him do that in interviews. Most managers, even the PFMs, will do that now and then, say something like we gave them to much space there and there or our back four fell too deep or they were compact and we didn’t move the ball quickly enough or whatever. I can’t remember him delivering anything reminiscing of a tactical analysis. With him is always an excuse and then ”back to basics, we have to roll up or sleeves”. I want managers to be able to at least pretend that they know what went wrong and what should be done about it. Maybe it’s just me.

I dunno, Almiron is more of a wide player/forward for me. I want him to start every game though, so if him occupying a central playmaker role is better for the team, so be it.

Fact is VAR and the ref combined got all the major decisions spot on today.
