Tbf if you've ever spent anytime in Sunderland you can literally feel your soul leaving your body, like living in a post war black & white film. Just grim all the time.

Hasn't been much solace of recent either tbf I'm on the fence for this one, derbies really do bring out the worst sometimes. They're not Liverpool and won't be exposing us with one pass, but equally they're not chumps and do carry threat whenever I've watched them. Early goal(s) and ride it out singing about decorating their stadium for us would be ideal

I'm with Howe for another couple of seasons tbh. (Barring a freak relegation tailspin and no signs of life) Saturday has no bearing on the future of the club, just a lot of bruised egos should the unfortunate happen.

Tbh for 500 quid a pop they better have painted the place! I've accepted this season is going awry and we just need to keep ourselves in and around top 10. EH has my patience to have a poor season, he needs the time to work through the shit times/unlucky breaks. Obviously I'd be happier if the performances weren't so off but thems the breaks. Sure lfc fans were wounded last season with how off they were, but you've just got to bunker down and pray EH and the team can work through it.

It is, but I think it being the final nail in Eddie's coffin would make us one of the biggest laughing stocks in football. Would make us Sunderland actually

I mean we looked pretty fucked a couple of seasons ago and he somehow got that team playing in a way to keep us up? He's going to have bad games, even the very best have poor runs. Eddie howe is not world class, but he's very near the best of the rest and has potential if can learn how to grind out results during times of weakness like this. I'm still 100% behind them all, but second half today was as grim as it's been since the dark days.

I mean, you're not guaranteed a win every game. Hell, not even a performance of recent Feel like injuries and rotten luck has derailed us, and now we are in a good ol' slump and struggling to pull ourselves out. You'd hope January could deliver something like a Bruno to reinvigorate our season but I think it's just free hit time at the season now.

Anyone think we have really regressed in our aggression at getting the ball back and under control? Just seem ponderous when trying to tackle and make it stick. Wonder if players are worrying about injuries or something.

It's attritional like but there were some shoots of life in there. Watching Gordon/almiron/longstaff run through treacle is a hard watch considering their playing style is all about intensity. When it's gone we look decidedly average out there, with only really Bruno with a bit of guile on the ball.

Villa to win this. Based on sheff absolutely bottling it from these positions and it would be canny funny villa losing to these. Exactly like Newcastle when a club needs to kick a bad habit they do so against us.

They had their derby wins, we got a takeover, LC final and played in the CL. I'm happy with my lot. No point denying there isn't more too it, but does it fuck define our season, but a win for them would probably be on par with your country winning a world cup. Absolute pinnacle of their existence
